Howdy guys. I stopped going to Rio right before the World Cup / Olympics madness, but am hopping back into to the mix and going back to Rio soon. Are the same Termas still up and running, eg. 4 x 4, Monte Carlo, T65, Solarium, etc. I heard that Centaurus was shut down but reckon it's back up and operating now, yes? Any new good venues pop up in the last few years?

Just out of curiosity, how much does an hour session at a place like Monte Carlo run now? When I was last in Brasil inflation was out of control. Just want to know what to expect.

BTW. It seems I had been away from the site so long that my old user name no longer works so I had to create a new profile. I see some of the old crew are still active in this forum like Sperto.

This evening there was a car accident on Av Atlntica, in Copacabana. The car ended up on the beach. 15 people got hurt. One baby died.
I passed by right after the accident happened. Incredible that it took way more than one hour to get ambulances to all the victims.
Sad story.

A follow-up on the accident in Copacabana when a car hit a crowd on the calçadão. One baby got killed and 17 people got hurt. Among the badly hurt was a gringo, australian.

Barra is south of Copacabana about 30 minutes by taxi and I believe since the Olympics the metro runs out there so you can get to Copa easy and centro too if you want. It's a relatively newer neighborhood than Copa or Ipanema but much more residential but in recent years there are now several good hotels. It's sort of modeled after Miami beach with new high rise condos along the beach and American type shopping malls. Plenty of restaurants and dance clubs and bars packed with middle to upper middle class young women same as the beach praia do Pepe.

Barra the tijuka is big, the clubs I mentioned are far away from the Barra the Tijuka stations. Only a taxi trip to Paris Cafe from the last subway station of Barra the Tijuka, costs 70 reais. Avenida das Americas is a very long avenue stretching From Barra to Recreo, Paris cafe is in Recreo. You can also take BRT buses from the Jardim Oceaanico station. To go to swing clubs you need to have a girl with you.

One good thing about Brazil is that unlike other Latin American countries such as Colombia and the DR a gringo can walk around with a local without being looked on as a sex tourist so the garotas are much more inclined to date foreigners.

A gringo has no problem walking around with a local, because they look like Brazilians, Brazilians don't recognize gringos until they open their mouth. Many regulars avoid going to the Ipanema beach with gringos just because they don't want to be seen as garota de programa.

Lucky you if you hooked up with Brazilians with only google translate. Hooking up with Brazilians from upper class backgrounds is another story, you need some command of Portuguese to get laid with these women. Better to stay in Copacabana because it is easier to go to many different spots from Copacabana. It is very easy to go to Centro by subway.

If you stay 10 days in Rio. Hit every terma and the clubs I mentioned above. In centro " Cancun, 4 by4 and T61" and in Zona sul " Solarium and Monte Carlo" in Barra " Pariscafe and Perolanegra".

On Saturdays, Solarium and Monte Carlo are open till 2 am, Perola Negra is open till 5 am and Paris Cafe is open till 4 am.

On sundays, meet a terma girl or hit Mosaic or some clinicas.

I am thinking of booking Brazil for Oct or Nov. The rate today is 3.40 to 1. Can you guys update me on 4 by 4 and Monte Carlo rates. I want to be able to pay the entrance fee, room, and girl for 40 minutes for 340 reals or less. Is that still doable or have rates gone through the room since 2010 when I was last there. Also, since help is closed, I was thinking of staying in Centro near 4 by 4. What hotels there don't charge for guests as long as you check each one in for under 50 a night?
