Jamie, I commend you for being adventurous and going to these off the beaten path places. I can highly recommend the following places as their talent pool was pretty good only a couple of weeks ago when I visited.

Sperto: The Tijuca addresses are correct, except Mix Massagem is located in #506. There was a note on #402 announcing they have moved & to call a phone number but I believe they moved to Rua Conde de Bonfim, #246 cobertura 03. I took the elevator to the top floor then walked up a flight of stairs. The pricing was 50R / 60R / 80R but the talent (4 girls) was not to my liking. Let me know if my recommendation of Alice & Raissa at Anne's meets your standards. During my recent trip, Anne's was the only place in Tijuca that I sessioned in.

Its rough to find a place that will only rent to you for 3 days. Damn near every apartment owner wants to to book a 10 day stay. I have been to Rio for 3 New years Eve celebrations, its fun, but it isn't worth the high costs that you have to pay. After the fireworks, everyone just wanders around the beach drinking and eating, nothing to write home about.

I am really suprised there isn't any big name American acts performing this year for NYE. Does the meridien hotel have its own seperate fireworks display anymore? (I know the hotel has a new name, but I can't remember what it is)

Meridien is Windsor. No waterfall fireworks going down the building (that was cool).

I spent plenty of New Years in Rio and I can't imagine a better place to spend the New Year. During the day you enjoy the beach, look at the people coming down the beach lightning candles, bringing flowers, liquors and candy as gifts for Iemanjá. I love the atmosphere full of expectations, people preparing for the night of the year. You have a churrasco with friends and in the evening you head down to the beach. Watch the shows. Admire all the lovely beautiful women dressed in white. At midnight it's just fantastic to be in the crowd on the beach. About 20 minutes of first-class fireworks. Popping bottles, everybody hugging, kissing dancing and greeting each other. Afterwards more shows and party. I enjoy the New Year in Rio a lot.

I've been thinking about flying down for maybe 3 days around new years. I've never been in Rio for new years and I heard it's pretty cool.
