Since I am very familiar with the culture and location, I was also thinking about how the metro is crazy full during rush hours, people coughing and not covering up, filthy streets in general. It's propably a very bad time to be in Rio right now. How fun can it be if they close down everything (cinema, theater, shows, Maracana, shopping centers, beaches etc)? I read an article yesterday that mentioned that Rio is closing down brothels, but I found no local information that confirmed this. I wouldn't have any desire to visit privées as long as there are a corona pandemic and I wouldn't be surprised if many privées will close shortly.

In Europe people are very aware of the coronavirus and do their best to behave properly, no way I would travel to Rio de Janeiro at the moment. I often take the metro around 9 AM and I know how full it is. A problem is the lack of education among many cariocas. It's normal to cough and sneeze even though you're in a crowd.

It seems like the cariocas have no interest in following the recommendations about not going to the beaches etc. Maybe the carioas will do their best to avoid gringos? Rocinha wants a foreigner ban so no gringo will spread the virus in the favela.

I'm having problems getting back home. I have a business class ticket with Lufthansa and few days ago they changed my connecting flight from Frankfurt to a flight which is 7 hours later than the original flight. Today they cancelled that flight, but the original flight is operated. The return booking disappeared from the app. When the online check-in opened, I got a notification to do the check-in. When I try to do that, they urge me to rebook myself to flights with waiting list and more connections. I have to wake up at 2 am to start making calls.

What is waiting for me, is two weeks paid quarantine at home. That's a lot of Netflix.

Whatever you people do, try to have fun, stay safe and keep other people safe.

I've visited lots of prives until the 5:th of March (I left Brazil a week ago). I noticed several girls with a cold. On my last priv-visit at Copa583 one girls was tossing a lot in the presentation. I didn't notice a lack of girls because of the coronavirus.

Got an early start (to my surprise) my friends were going off for some regular tourist stuff but I decided I wanted to explore some Prive's today.

The advice I had read (mostly Sperto's) was that late morning was a good time for the Prive's as all girls should have arrived by then but before the lunch time rush kicks in, I arrived at Carioca metro at around 11 am. Just a word on the metro there are at least 2 or 3 different forms of pre paid metro card. The most popular one is the Riocard Mais which covers all forms of transport. Unfortunately at Siqueira Campos Metro there are only two machines that you can top up this card on and you can only buy the card on one of those machines so the cue was huge. I suggest biting the bullet on the first trip and then figure out how to top up online after that.

My stomach was playing up so Sperto's previous post some time ago about a toilet in the Rio Branco 156 basement was priceless. Are $4. 50 charge which seems excessive for a Brazilian public toilet but beggars can't be choosers. .

Decided to visit Bel Prazer in room 2114 Rio Branco 185. Was a line up of about 10-12 girls. I was there around 1 or 2 pm and it was very quiet. I knew there had been the fire issues but I read one report that the place was up and running again so I am not sure how much was actually open because it was so quiet. Sperto's article he posted the other day suggestions that some perhaps wasn't reopened. I also stand out as a tourist (think casper white) so I was getting started at a lot. I walked down one of the alleyways but very little life and I couldn't find the entrances to the other alleyways. I decided it was so quiet that my exploring was not practical so I was going to head off.

In the end I got beckoned over by two girls in the pink bar (one of the first bars on the right walking east on are. Sotero dos Reis (possibly it might have been the bar two doors to the left).

There was deep friend fish, prawns, banana. To be honest it was too much of a good thing to enjoy. I was ill the next evening and I wouldn't rule it out that this was the culprit.

Some of the group were flying to Sao Paolo the next day so headed home early but myself and another were staying in Rio so we explored around leblon but very quiet during the week. Later on on this trip a girl told me that Rua dias ferreira is the place to be in Leblon. Got an Uber to Ipanema and looked around there and again very quiet in the middle of the week. Ended up having a drink in the restaurant opposite Garatas de Ipanema. The lack of sleep over the previous few days really hit me here and I could hardly keep my eyes open finishing the drink. Fell asleep in the Uber home.

I had been before but cannot find my photos from back then so decided to go again although it was cloudy so I tried to suggest that they reschedule to no avail. Went up by van (I think $40 return trip) but that only goes about half way and then it was around are $32 for the other half of the route up so I costs about the same as the train in the end. (some of our group got the train but but the time we arrived the wait for the next available train was over an hour).

I like the Santa Teresa area, reminds the most of anywhere in rio of Lisbon, the Trams the hills etc. I liked the restertunat / cafe here as wkk, a certain charm to it.

Sugarloaf

Most of us decided to hike up Urca rather than getting the cable cars all the way. The sun came out by this point so we were all sweating heavily. But a cool thing to go up this together. Its not the hardest of climbs but no walk in the park either and some of it gets quite slippery as well.

By the time we had taken photos on top of Urca etc and was heading for the cable cars to sugarloaf it started to rain so we didn't han around on sugarloaf very long. To be honest the view from sugarloaf was not really any better than Urca anyway but going all the way up is one of those "I have done that" things.

Got an Uber back to the apartment, got cash at Bradesco. Got cleaned up rested for an hour or so and then headed of to get the trip statrted properly.

My first ever trip to a Termas. I expected that this would suit my preferences. Of all the different Mongering set ups I have experienced my favourite until now had been the Thailand Go'Gos and the Termas share two of the most important factors in common.
