I would gladly stay the rest of the winter with the exchange rate being what it is, but changed my flight to get back in the USA on the 25th, just in case something ridiculous like a test result positive for covid, or some other more restrictive rule change gets put into play. By the way, United still has open seats in Polaris, but they're not likely to last much longer.

Posts: 1540Places to take a covid test in Rio?
After January 26th, everyone (including American citizens) must have a negative Covid test in order to enter the USA. Does anyone know where in Rio, you can take a rapid test? (I think the results have to be under 72 hours). If you test positive, I assume you must be quarantined in Brazil until you test negative.
Testing positive is going to suck for people who can't work remotely and must cover room and board for 2-3 weeks. We won't even mention the torture of seeing hot girls every day and knowing that you can't indulge because you are supposed to be quarantined.

Stick to the tried and true when doing tourist stuff. Corcovado (the Christ statue) is a must in my opinion. Sugarloaf Mountain is fine, but if you choose one choose Corcovado. I like taking the old tram up to the old Santa Teresa neighborhood above Centro for lunch. Bring a date! She will be impressed. If I remember right, some restaurants have views. The now well-known Selaron Steps are in Santa Teresa. The Lapa Arches and the Modern Cathedral are all near where the Santa Teresa historic tram line begins.
Secondary recommendations: The modern Rio Cathedral, the Sambadrome, Niteroi Contemporary Art Museum (a bit far). If you like old cafes you can go to Confeitaria Colombo before hitting Termas 4 x4.
As other members are guiding, prime time at Termas seems to be from 5-6 pm to about 9-10 pm. Their bread and butter clientele (especially outside Copa and Ipanema) tend to be businessmen who drop by after work. They tell their wives and girlfriends they are going out with work colleagues. That is partially true because the locals tend to make termas a social thing with work buddies. They don't mind foreigners.
I would advise hitting up 4 x4 on a Friday evening. You know the girls will have Saturday and Sunday off as 4 x4 is closed.

Vagabundo recommends it for first-timers. I still think the Copacabana / Ipanema corridor is best for Rio newbies. Most newbies seem to visit for a week or less. I want to walk to the beach and have dozens of restaurants around the corner. There are also easy to get to sex venues.

Posts: 160Really appreciate you taking the time to share your stories. Looks like Centaurus might be best for me too; I speak mostly only English. Perhaps like the guy below says that going mid day would give you more girls to choose from is a good idea. Did Centaurus have a valuables safe that seemed secure? I am a little concerned about that. It's funny they laughed at you buying non alcoholic drinks. That's exactly what I will be doing too. So far have blowjobs been without condom? I am used to German FKK's so this is going to be all new to me. Thanks again!

Just came back from another late night exploring: proven worse than the 1st. Thanks to Oldbelly69 that could change so thanks in advance!
1. Monte Carlo.
Heard a lot of great things about this club so got there at 10:30 pm and it was pretty dead. There was 5 girls and like 4 guys and didn't really like any of the girls. I go to the bar and grab a soda because I knew I wasn't going to stay very long and even tho my Portuguese is non existent for the most part I could make out the fact that the girls at the bar were laughing that I ordered a non-alcoholic drink which was pretty rude. There was a branca that looked ok but I didn't like the vibe and wasn't going to settle just because. Left after maybe 10 mins. Really disappointed and don't think I will be returning. The fee to get in was 120 girls were like 400 or so with room for 40 mins. Sorry I completely wrote this off my head after my experience. 100 for just a massage. Was thinking about just getting a massage from the branca as someone else stated here you are better off going to a real massage place or terapistas. 1st floor you get your locker and change to robe. 2nd floor is sauna and bathroom. 3rd floor is bar with girls. Bar area is kinda small again that seems to be the case all over. All you can really do is order drinks, talk to the girls and order them drinks. Seems the girls here only speak portuguese unlike centauros where they spoke some spanish and a bit english. Better selection of girls over there too.
2. 4 x4.
Got some food near monte and headed to 4 x4. Got there around 12:30 am. Entry was 70 and you pay when you leave with any drinks you ordered plus girls. If I remember it was 290? Or so for a girl for 40 mins with the room. Again pretty dead. Only 5 girls and 3 of them were with other guys and the last two weren't exactly my type. Had kinda a nice vibe to it. I can see it being good when it is busy. The bartender went over to one of the girls and made her introduce herself and have her tell me if I had any questions or whatever to let her know. Pretty friendly. Was going to talk to a cute spinner but two guys friends of hers came and she started smoking and drinking and talking to them, so no girls were available. After a few minutes I called it a night and started to leave. I went to pay my entrance fee and the spinner comes running to me asking me why I was leaving. Told her I was tired and she tired her hardest to get me to stay but wasn't worth it to me. I'm in Barra so it's a good ride home and I called my uber already.
Kinda slow but at least the management seems to care that you don't leave completely disappointed. Guess it's better to come around 8 pm or so?
So far it seems that things die down after 11 pm or so. Solarium closes at 12, which I will go tomorrow to check out. Centauros seems to be the best termas so far. All the girls seemed very doable and friendly and they have a girl bring you up and show you the ropes. Good amount of girls too. So far from what I read from LLT and others it's really hit or miss and you have to bounce around sometimes which is a bit frustrating to say the least.
Will be doing more tourist stuff so any recommendations would be nice! Want to explore this beautiful city as well. SP really got me longing for some Sun and Beach.
