I just happen to return from a trip to Rio de Janeiro and the trips are just getting better and better. The women were smoking hot, the sex was without parallel and the value was unquestionably without comparison. The problem in this forum is that if I dare report some of the deeds that were done, some of you will definitely hate what I did and how I did it.

What I can tell everyone here of the situation on the ground as I observed it was:
1. Balcony was a a big rip off. The girls were not of the same caliber that could be found at Help when it was open. Even though I did not like Help, at least it was a viable option for the late night.

2. The best bang for the buck is found in the Centro, Barra de Tijuca, Largo de Machado and many other spots around the city. I takes some searching, but there are plenty of 8's and 9's and from time to time some 10's hanging out at these places. The prices ranged from 1 real a minute to 2 reals a minute (60 reals to 120 real per hour). The service was always outstanding.

3. I spent a lot of time in my favorite Terma: 4 X 4. There hasn't been a price increase since my last trip, which was surprising, but the place was relatively speaking empty. On Thursdays and Fridays it gets more crowded, but from segunda to quarta feria it was really empty. Still, lots of choices available from the extra super thin, to the most voluptuos brickhouses anyone could wish. The service and value there were always beyond reproach.

There were rumors about a new "Help like" disco opening in Copacabana very soon. Until it is up and running, IMHO I believe it is part of the mythology that makes Rio such an awesome place.

There is no one twisting anyone's arm into spending their hard earned cash. The catch is to know the difference between "value" and getting robbed blind. I like getting my money's worth, plain and simple. I still find that there really is nowhere that offers what this city, this country has to offer in comparison to the many other places that I've had the priviledge of visiting. Needless to say, I will be back. Soon

Funny, ten years ago there were a lot of complaints on how Brazil was much cheaper in the early nineties.

Brazil isn't cheap. However it's up to you how expensive it will be. Get a good deal renting an apartment, use bus/metro, buy sex in centro, eat at cheap restaurants etc.
Want to save more money? Leave Rio and enjoy other cities in Brazil. The other cities have also become more expensive but the living will be cheaper than in Rio.

Copacabana have become boring after Help closed? Propably, if you're a Copa-monger. Skip Balcony and try Centro.

I don't see the point of complaining on how Brazil has changed. If Brazil doesn't suit you anymore, stay home or choose another destination.

Judging by the very few good reports on Rio the last year it seems that sex tourism have gone down. The forum have become a battlefield between besserwissers and Rio-experts acting aggressive attacking other posters. I found it very funny.... that a monger going to Brazil-Brasil where he will pay hookers, eating at restaurants, staying in hotel or expensive flats at very expensive total final bill.... is so cheap Charlie he really has to save 10 fucking bucks at airport to have his suitcases closed in the film-nylon ( sorry I do not know how to call it correctly ) ?

I am pretty sure they are not gonna to cut it and even if they do, you have insurance that pays you until something of 3-400 euro if they steal something, so if they rob you cheap stuff, you are gonna probably to earn money too, declaring they steal you more expensive stuff.

I always use it and I never had my suitcase opened in 16 years of travelling in all the world, but I also saw that only 5-10% of suitcases had it.

Be wiser: drink 2 caipirinha less and invest better your 10$ LOL

I was out at JFK international airport this morning terminal 4 where Tam leaves from. They had 2 spots doing this plastic wrap around the suitcases for 3 prices, $9, 12 and 38. If TSA opens it then they rewrap for free, the more expensive wraps include insurance where if anything is stolen or damaged they pay for it.

After that I took the train to Penn station NY. Brasil day was going on in NY, I followed 6 asses from 34th street to 46th street, since it was NY I wished it was even overpriced Copacabana but it wasn't. It was just some fine ass and me being invisable.

Helprules: maybe it's time to change your name. Good post and real, I will be in Rio soon and have increased my daily budget to minimum $400 a day, some days I do more, some days I do less, so it's average.

besserwisser German. Meaning "knowing better". And that's exactly what it refers to, like the more common "smart ass" or "wise ass", or even "smart elick" (smart aleck). A besserwisser - or wise ass - is a person, often intellectual, or at least pseudo-intellectual, who thinks he or she has more general knowledge about things than most others. It can be correcting language mistakes in grammar and spelling, or it can be within a specific topic like everything from politics, geography and baseball to history and science - anything you can imagine!

Let me start off by saying that things have changed for the worse. Sorry mongers, but brazil is no longer a cheap destination. Everything was more expensive. Went through money like water, and I had a budget of 250 a day!

Come on over to Pattaya brother. We will be happy to have you. $250 will get you through 3 days at the very least.

Nice apartment with cold a/c: US$20/day
Rented scooter to get around on: US$6/day
Plate of Thai food to fill your belly: US$1.15
vc gosta de fresh suco?: US$.50

....and at least 10 clubs just like Help filled to capacity with no cover charge and women that will go with you for US$30 (normal rate, doesn't even need to be discussed) until you decide to put them out.

Hmmm. That adds up to almost $58. Better throw in another $30 garota (or 3 $10 ones) to bring it to $88/day!

Perhaps another topic but....

where I do think Brazil is getting worse, is that the WGs are getting fatter every year I travel to Brazil!

Personally I like thin body types. To me that is a whole lot more sexy than those overweight 1m65 tall ladies who weigh 70+ Kilos as I am seeing more and more.

The first time I was ever in Brazil I still saw many thin, elegant and sexy ladies.

Now (2010) it seems the western consumerism life style (eat, buy things you dont need and then eat more) is really THE thing now. I know this is a personal thing and some of you may like you garotas big (gorda) but I am not one of them.

I think Obesity is really becoming a BIG problem in Brazil. I see the trend in the Termas, Escorts, the beach, everywhere.

Anytone else who agrees or sees this trend...or am I the only one?

It depends. That would be my answer. I am not such a fan of the Termas anymore. I have been to a few (in Rio) and 4x4 is the one I visit once, every time I am in Rio. But just once. Termas are not the best deal IMO. I do not understand why they have gotten so expensive. In a country like Germany, where the average wages are 3x to 10x that of the Brazilians, a german FKK offers MUCH better value for money. Really MUCH MUCH better. Believe me, I know. For 50 Euro entrance (Düsseldorf/Köln area) you get free drinks, food and entrance ALL day. 1 hour in a (nice and clean) room, with an lady of your choice (stunner can be found), can often be arranged for Euro 75.

IMHO if you have an apartment in Rio, the best deal are the escorts. Besides the obvious ones (Karla and Scort which will cost you some 150-170 for 2 hours including taxi) there are some really good ones where nice ladies (7-9 score) will stay 2 hours for 250 R$. I know no place in Europe or the USA which offers anything close to this. I think Brazil still offers the best there.

For instance this one is not bad: www.vipgoldrj.com. There are plenty others like that in Rio.

I personally think that spending 2 hours in my apartment with a very nice and good looking 22 year old (as I have met from such agencies) is a great deal.

Went through money like water, and I had a budget of 250 a day! The only good thing was the subway. I saved plenty taking the subway to centro every night.

The termas were still great. I tried to save money by trying some of the other termas in centro, but they were complete TRASH. There is a reason why the same 5 or 6 termas are mentioned here over and over. 4x4 and luomo were the best for this trip. There is a girl with braces at luomo that has a legit 10 for a body. Could be in playboy. 20 years old. The termas are now no smoking which made it so much more enjoyable. 4x4 dumped the restaurant upstairs and put more rooms. I missed taking girls up there before fucking. Anyway, you can expect to pay about 270 reals for one gir/room/entrance. That is going to be your average when you visit all 6. Thats 150 dollars at the current 1. 80 rate. My advice to anyone coming to brazil is to bring 300 a day MINIMUM. 250 was not near enough. My rankings this trip: 44-luomo-monte carlo-solarium-terma65 and Cancun was last.

If money is no object, than brazil is still the best place to monger. If you are on a budget, I say pick a new place. I think its time that I try Colombia. The girls are knockouts and it has to be cheaper than brazil. I asssume 250 a day will get me 3 girls a night there.

You must learn the art of negotiation. Don't ever agree w/the first price you hear. I've bargained R300's down to R200. I almost always get R200's for R150 (and that's a whole night and morning). And R150's can be had for R100/night. Easy. And bring some little gifts for your favorite girls (lotions, perfume, lingerie) and watch how far they go the extra mile. But always negotiate with a smile and if they don't budge just say, "No obrigado bebe" and walk away. Within one minute she'll either change her mind or you'll find another one willing to take your dinheiro. But NEVER go w/the first quote!

As for Colombia you are way off. I just returned from Medellin and had gorgeous Paisas for 30-50 COP (Colombian Pesos). That's about US$15-25! One night I went crazy and had six lovely ladies ranging from 18 to 26 y/o. No bullet or stab wounds either, all Bonitas. Colombia is absolutely the best bang for buck right now. Mainly because most Gringo's are scared to go, so the pricing is low. But Rio girls are just as beautiful, if not more, and give the best GFE hands down.

By the way, I do agree with you.
Though I dig Colombia and have been there countless times, I easily rate Brazil as the best, mainly due to the attitude and energy of the Brasileiras ... and ... if you can make contacts and stay away from touristy, high end places, Brazil doesn't have to break the bank.

Nightlife really sucks since help closed. I went to balcony for the first couple nights and never went again the rest of the trip. The place sucks! The club upstairs is tiny. The girls are fugly! I decided to try barbarellas and the club across the street from them. It was better than balcony, but still too expensive. The good looking girls were asking a minimum of 300 reals plus the bar fine and entrance fee. I decided after 3 nights that I would just go to termas every night and try to get numbers. Unfortunately, the good looking girls are no longer meeting after work for 200 reals. I couldn't close any deals at that price.
