Just came back from a dozen days in Rio. Was my first time in Brazil.

Thanks to the 2 ISGers I met there, hopefully I'll meet you guys again, like in Germany; o).

For the logistics:

*) Lodging: I had booked an hotel in Copa 2 blocks from the beach near Posto 5. I concur to what somebody said: it's a good idea to stay in Copa and travel to Centro for hobby rather than the other way round. Centro at night looks like a No Man's land. Copa at night did not feel particularly unsafe. I did not feel threatened walking on the beachfront. On the other hand, saw a couple of incidents involving kids stealing from people on Atlantica Avenue in broad daylight and cops chasing them.

*) Taxi to / from Airport: When I arrived, somebody hailed me and quoted 100 BRL for the ride to Copa West. I was jetlagged and dying to get to the hotel, so I paid just that. On the way back to the airport from the hotel, I just hailed the first cab I saw, and I paid 60 BRL.

*) Currency Exchange: I used the 2 small shops on the beach end of Rua Xavier de Silveira. Got 3. 35 BRL per USD which was more than the official xe.com quote at the time, and also 3. 35 per EUR which was a bit less than xe.com.

Now for the good stuff:

*) Monte Carlo was my favorite place. So easy to reach by foot from any Copa hotel. Definitely not cheap (North of 700 BRL for Ingresso + one hour session), but the 3 girls I got there were good performers: Luana (with firebird tatoo on her back), Kaitlyn (Young blonde w / pink dress) and one I think her name was Gabriella w / fake boobs, but very serviceable. Even when I showed up at opening at 3. 00 PM because I had a plane to catch on my last day, they still had 3 or 4 very doable girls ready. Never saw more than 4-5 customers there, and music not too loud, which made an enjoyable atmosphere to me.

*) 4 x 4 was also good. Much cheaper (like 360 BRL for 60 minutes). Best 2 I got were Luna (not to be confused with Luma which was a bit mechanical), and Lara who fucks like a pornstar on a mission. Much more packed w / guys than Monte Carlo, and louder techno music. Getting out of Centro at nighttime can be a little frightening however.

Visited Centaurus and did not partake. They have this stupid thing that a girl will stay with you from the time you step in, hoping that you'll buy something from her. Very annoying even if mine was quite sexy (Brenda, I think, from Amazonian descent).

Cancun, we were in and out in less than 15 minutes, must be some kind of record.

Prives:

*) The best I found was Bel Prazer: Clean rooms, can't-be-beaten prices (150 BRL for one hour), sexy girls but most of them will do CBJ only though. The hard part for non-portuguese speakers is that they follow each other introducing themselves to you, most times you don't even understand their names, and then you have to choose one. In three visits, the best I got was the black girl with long dreadlocks (forgot her name).

*) Tried Onyx, sale building, same floor. Let's just say a place where I have to kill a cockroack to get into the shower will never be high on my list. Took Winnie who is featured on the website, and honestly looks better on the website than in person, but at least she did her best to please.

I'm not really into taking a girl from a bar to an hotel, but Barbarella has very nice ones, plus they have a stripper on stage for eye candy.

Mab's, I woulnd't really say they have good looking ones, but you can consider that as a lender of last resort: if you go there, you'll always find somebody to take home.

Arrived in Rio yesterday.

After a little rest, had a sweet amiga that I met on a previous trip come to my place and "matar saudades", LOL.

Had a buddy in town and he wanted to meet up at MABs.

Though it's not my normal hangout, and it being a Sunday, I was expecting just the usual suspects to be there.

And of course they were there, LOL, however, there were a few good lookers that I hadn't seen before as well.

We invited a very pretty garota from Florianópolis to our table and drank and talked a while.

Though I was bantering much more with her due to my buddy's lack of portuguese skills, I passed her over to him for the bedroom fun.

Called an Uber, and off I go.

Of course it was fairly slow, being Sunday.

I liked it though. Very few guys and at least a couple sweet mulatas for me to choose from, which I did.

I avoid Carnaval personally but if I were to go, ID be grabbing non-pros in the bloccos. Ridiculous amount of girls out there.

The regulars will definetely hang with you-especially if you live somewhere close to good parties etc.

Mind you every day can be a carnaval for you in Rio if you do the footwork! LOL.

I generally do not recommend coming here during Carnaval with the goal of meeting many GDPs at termas or privees. There are a lot of gringos in town, and while sometimes that means more GDPS (increase in short-term supply), in my experience over the past several years it results in poorer treatment / atendimento. Also places close during the holidays, and girls go absent 1-2 days before and after.

On the other hand, if you have "regulars" you enjoy hanging out with, they'll easily spend the day with you during the festivities and you can have a great time. But that requires having a connection and portuguese. If you start your search now, you'll be able to find 1-2. I went on a Patmar-style recon mission to the "dark side" with Fmadig a few weeks ago, got some numbers, and already have 1 whatsapping me every few days after 1 visit. To my great surprise she was 18, which made that visit so much better.

Bobby is very resilient, I saw him the other day in his laundromat, may be broke but still in business. I got some laundry done.

Bobby is a good guy. Seemed like he had a pretty good thing going. Unlike many, he even invested in infrastructure and staff. The big robbery certainly didn't help. I wonder if Help's closure hurt business. There are certainly far less mongers traveling to Brazil. Perhaps the recent years devaluation and the Olympics has helped Rio tourism.

I also remember a guy named Kenn who operated EZ-Riorentals. He was easy to deal with. He doesn't seem to be in business anymore. I did realize over time that all the apartment bookers were booking the same exact apartment inventory and just marking them up. That's how the apartment business worked back then. Ironically, an internet site like Airbnb probably killed an internet business like Kenn's that was good in the beginning years of the internet.

There was also a guy named Don who kind of steered newbies around town. I liked Don, but thought his clientele were a bit clueless and / or just wanted someone to hang with in Rio. I myself kind of initially jumped into Rio with just some internet intel and a Portuguese phrase book. I was relatively young, decent looking and figured if I was lonely I could find a girl to hang out with a few days. Don even brought his sister down to help (no pun intended). She could care less what all the guys were doing. She was a friendly and attractive woman, but how do you compete with the half-naked teenagers on Copacabana beach that will do anything.

Anecdote: I remember this hot American girl staying at my hotel the Rio Roiss which used to be around the corner from Help Disco a block in from Avenida Atlantica. She wanted us to take her into Help. She was intimidated to go herself. I forget why she was in Rio by herself. Anyways, about an hour in the club she is generating no interest from men. As hot as she was, she still had that American female body language that she was in control and that men should come to her. She sat on the stage for awhile moping and then she said she was leaving. I never saw her again. I don't think she was expecting the level of talent available in Help back in that day.
