This IS utter nonsense. Have stayed at many hotels around Rio sometimes for months and never had any issues.
Guys who know how to handled themselves, are friendly with the staff and don't bring in trash, will have no problems.

You are giving misinformation TOO! I stayed at Premier hotel near Siqueira Campos metro station a few years ago. I met a cutie and brought her back in the late afternoon. The asshole at the front desk stopped us and objected when I was rolling in to the elevator. I told him to check my booking!! I booked for 2. Fuck him. I took her up and enjoyed myself. He was mad because I was about to fuck her sweet her ass.

And the asshole gave me a dirty look when I walked her out a few hours later. I'm American, and I came back and ask if there was a problem in Portuguese, he didn't say shit.

Rio Othon Palace also frowns on that. So do a few other hotels.

That's not a bad deal. A lot of guys don't go three time each year! Especially for a guy who wants to try it out for the first or 2nd time. He can go check it out for 3 or 4 weeks on HIS vacation. Then, if he like it (which he will), he can get the 10 year visa and pay more. A 10 year visa is $160 (a guy can go 1 month on vacation, each year for 10 years). If he had a $40 visa he can go 1 month for 2 years and check it out first. Not a bad deal at all for a newby or a guy who travels every now and then!

Not good for me. I need to stay 4 - 6 months per year and I still have to spend money to renew a fucking European passport.

Is this "girl hostility" thing unique to hotels in Brazil? Been mongering high and low around the world, and never ever been in a situation of having to worry about such nonsense.

Could be a few reasons I have seen through the years. Allowing girls in in this business lends itself to a lot of drama. Late at night too much alcohol, he doesn't want to pay because she didn't deliver what his expectations were, whatever but now we have drama. Yelling, screaming, fights, police, many hotels want to avoid this and maintain their reputation for regular tourists. Also many hotels do not want to be part of prostitution, many hotels have signs up against prostitution and again want to maintain a good reputation. Some of these girls steal and slip drugs in your drinks to knock you out and steal your stuff, hotels want no part of this.

So you are doing the right thing by doing your homework. I know FAMD has stated many times that IBIS is a good option and I just recently stayed at Pestana and was allowed to bring in as many girls as I wanted one at a time.

I'm planning my next trip to Rio. It took forever to get my visa but now this will be trip 5- I think. As usual I'm researching the crap out of it I like to hit the ground running. I hope to stay in Copa but not yet confirmed. I hope to stay 3 weeks.
