The woman who handles the bills (Some say she is the owner's daughter) is a rip off artist. The way a girl explained it to me was, the club doesn't charge the girls an entrance fee, so they try to make up for the loss by charging the gringo 50 R if he walks out with a woman for the night. If the manager or security sees you hooking up with the girl in front of the club and you didn't pay the 50 R, they can ban the girl from going in unless she pays the entrance fee. Thats why you don't walk out together, you give her your address so she can take an uber there.

I tried telling the board about the fact that the girls receive a cut of your drink bill and got flak from other mongers who said it wasn't true. I used to be one of those guys until I saw it with my own eyes. I watched on multiple nights as girls took slips of paper from the bar to the cashier and she gave them cash.

They have a million ways to pad your bill in DV. Like charging you 200 R to sit in the VIP section. If you order a bottle, there is no VIP service charge it's supposed to be free. But they will add it to the bill in hopes that you don't know any better.

The week has been a complete blur, I'm only now recovering from a day of unfortunate food poisoning that had me visiting the toilet every 10 minutes and can now look back to consolidate my experience with a modicum of lucidity.

Our adventures one night began at T 65 where I resampled the spinner from the week before, who was still quite tasty, but as often happens- the thrill was gone. Not sure I will repeat a third time. After that we stopped by New York (formerly Cancun). The vibe here is more dinner club / cosmopolitan. It's certainly not a place that exudes carnal abandon and so might appeal to the more sophisticated monger or older gentlemen. I did not see a lady that suited my fancy, but I'm sure others would. Not sure what the take-out fee is and I do not believe they have on-site facilities although I could be wrong.

New York was followed by a quick trip to 502, which was dead and depressing but Beenbob and myself felt compelled to by drinks for a few sad garotas and we had some interesting conversation. I had briefly visited T 116 before and described the ambience in probably a much more well written Hemingwayesque posts- and all that still holds true, but now I have a sense of familiarity so the experience was not so fraught and much more quotidian. I will say unequivocally- the scene here was bumping- all kinds of fully naked bodies slinking around, writhing, gyrating, humping and bumping. The air full of moisture, the smell of pussy, beer and body odor. A surprisingly high quotient of completely doable ladies. Senhor Vagabundo1 has been on to something by hyping this place up- it really is an "undiscovered" gem. My issue here would be that I would not be totally comfortable hitting it on site- its just seems too sketchy. Centaurus

The following day after a trip to Parque Lage, Beenbob and myself did the Centaurus / Solarium two-fer. Starting at Centaurus, we vowed to only stop by and not get sucked in, which as the time went on became an increasingly difficult task to accomplish. I felt like Ulysses tied to the deck of the ship passing by the deadly and beckoning siren songs. That being said, I'm just not really impressed with this place- there were not a whole bunch of girls and although there were a few doable specimens- its not really the quality I was expecting for a 160 r entrance fee. I will say the majority could speak English fairly well and the interior was well appointed and opulent. For a well-heeled monger who wants a more upscale environment and is willing to pay a premium for comfort- Centaurus could work. For the average monger its really just a box to check and move on. Luckily Beenbob held strong to the mission and pried me from a bad decision and we made our way onward to Solarium.

Solarium

I had been to Solarium previously but man what a difference. This has got to be the premiere Terma in Rio hands down. The quantity, selection, and vibe on this occasion were the best I've seen and totally different from my previous visit. All the girls were decked out in cute little red and white festive outfits, and the mood was sexy and carnivalesque. I spotted at least 4 girls I would do which is somewhat rare, usually I will find one or two. My session with a provider who looked like the pornstar Jasmine Byrne was excellent. The 50 reals for taking out a girl of the club is normal. Consider it as kind of a "barfine" as we all know it from Asia. Also, the girls in there get drinks for free from the bar, so I think that might be the attempt to transfer the costs of free drinks at least to a certain part to the happy monger. The thing with the Red Bulls in fact is something what they try from time to time when they think there is someone that they might rip off. There is another club around the corner of Dolce Vita. Kalabria is its name. Great talent there but if you take a girl out there, they charge you even 88 reals. And the entrance fee is 80 reals but fully consumable. I have been there now five or six times and each time, really each time, they forgot about the prepaid 80 reals entrance and tried to charge me when I left the place the full amount of that what I've consumed. Ridiculous and annoying because they really think that you're stupid enough to be cheated that easily.

An option to avoid the barfine thing would be perhaps to tell the girl she should leave the discotheque just like ten minutes before you do and make an appointment with her at a different place. Never tried that out though. Good luck & happy holidays.

Checked the bill on leaving and noticed five red bull drinks had been added to the tab. Apparently added to drinks I bought. What the hell is going on here. These are freelance ladies who walk in and use the club, they aren't paid by the club and don't work solely for this club.

I wouldn't pay the 50 and advise others not too. I didn't see any signs downstairs clearly stating this was the case.

I appreciate and understand the 50 real charge that applies when leaving. This was explained to me as a minimum bar bill you have to ring up in the club. If your bill is under 50 you pay the difference. A type of entry fee but you get the drinks. I don't have a single problem with this.

So I am left wandering what is going on, are these genuine mistakes on behalf of the bar staff or behind their friendly outward appearance is there actually a more sinister motive. I saw other customers looking as confused as I was and everyone seemed to be having issues with what was on their tabs at the end of the night.

If it happens again me and the guys will start using the other club down the road. It's a real shame as apart from the smoke it was a great little place.

A summary of these three buildings: Many of the privées have closed (or moved), with door bells and signs gone. Two of the top privées in TDM33 are definitely gone. Some privées had not open yet when I passed around 11-12 AM. Quite a few privées were filthy and quite disgusting. There are a few doable girls. I didn't see any gems in any of these privées mentioned above. What I did see was much lower quality on the girls than I've ever seen in earlier years, a bottom low record. Might have been better quality if I had visited a bit later today.
