No worries. It's a common monger thing, not just limited to Rio termas. If it helps, I just plan ahead. When you're wearing a robe (eg in 4x4) it still has pockets. Or if you carry nothing, you can ask the barman for a pencil and a piece of till roll to write a phone number down.

I've done this in the past when just popping in spontaneously. But for a planned visit I generally have either a small bag (that will fit into a robe pocket - something the size of an airport liquids bag) or a small waist bag.

Let's say at the outset that you should never take a camera (or phone camera) out in the main public area. Don't try to con 4x4. Just play by the spirit of the rules. My small pouch, which I would only ever take out in the private room with the girl, contains things like my very compact camera, pen & paper, my own favourite brand of condoms, and anything else I might want for the up-close-and-personal time. If I plan to use a pen & paper in the public areas, I generally just keep them separate - and loose in a robe pocket. (In venues where you keep your valuables, I have a miniature pen that fits in my wallet.)

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Making my second trip to Rio this year. Hitting Rio for Memorial Day weekend (May 28 to 31 in the US). Getting into Rio Saturday morning the 29th. Since the centro termas will be closed, planning on visiting Uomo. Can't go wrong there. Thing about the termas is that they are really only open 4pm onwards. I'm hoping to find some action on a Monday from say Noon to 4pm. What do you guys suggest?

Was thinking of trying Karlas Models or Divas RJ or something like that, booking a room at say VIPS for the afternoon and hanging with a girl for a few hours, then head to GIG for the flight home. If I wanted to do this, could I just go to one of the motels and have them call the agency?

He should know if he is being scammed or not and if a keylogger program can give him the answer he needs, I say go for it. I guess I understand why someone would want to use one of those programs to find out what a GDP was up to makes sense. But it has always been my policy to assume that they are ALL up to something and they are ALL scamming every guy they can. That is one of the reasons I do not send GDPs money.

I have a few GDPs that call themselves my girlfriends and they tell me how much the love me and how they want to be with me. It feels great at the time but I have no doubt that the moment I walk away one of those girls could be telling you the exact same thing. It doesn't make me mad at all because I realize that these girls are doing what they need to do to survive. I don't judge them but I for damn sure do not send them money. But that is an old discussion that has bee hashed and rehashed here for years.

I love this forum because it allows for the sharing if information and some guys will love it and some guys will not. without fail, every single garota has snooped into my laptop to look at pictures and to read my email as well! as most of us know, when you log into msn or yahoo im, it will show you how many unread emails you have in your inbox, without fail i would return and there would be less unread emails! every single girl has entered my emails or went into my c drive and looked around. now i am sure some of you guys will say that leaving a girl alone in my apartment with my laptop, is entrapment!!

I have received a few PMS asking about KL applications. I downloaded two from CNET. KGB & ALL IN ONE! I only installed KGB and it has worked great so far. It records all their keystrokes, so I can see usernames, passwords, websites visited. I can even see entire conversations they have on Instant Messenger.

What I usualy do is let the GDP see me surfing on my email and they start feining like a crack head. They love to check their email, orkut, facebook and seeing a laptop with internet access is too much for them to resist. I then make up a bullshit excuse like "I am going to go buy minutes for my phone or I need to buy water. I will be back in like 25 minutes". They always ask me if they can use my computer and I respond with a big "sure, no problem". 25 minutes gives them enough time to get confortable and open all their email addresses and launch MSN or Yahoo IM.

I should have done this YEARRRRRRSSSSSSSS ago, I could kick myself in the ass for not doing it before. It would have saved me thousands of dollars and alot of stress. I even used it with my non gdp girlfriend and was able to find out some secrets she had hidden in the back of the closet.

(Now if I could just find out how to log into GMAIL without it recording my IP address, city and time I logged in) LOL

The only email you have to stay away from is GMAIL!! I actually got caught by one of the girls because she uses GMAIL for all her dirt. When you log into GMAIL, it actuall shows the date & time you were last logged in and most inportant, it gives the IP ADDRESS and city from which you logged in!!

I was going to mention that about the gmail. Although I figured most people never notice that "last account activity" status line at the bottom of the page. One would think your average brasileira would not understand what that info means but it just goes to show how sharp some of these gdps are. If you really want to be sneaky, you can turn off alerts of unusual activity in the preferences, then wait 7-8 days before you snoop again (it takes a week for the feature to turn off as per google). Still, I think the "last account activity" alert remains on the page no matter what security features you turn off.

Be careful snooping around though. It can come back to haunt you. I've thought about doing the same thing myself, but sometimes ignorance is bliss and it's better not to know all the grimy details of these gdp lives.

Anyway, guys are supposed to know at least half the things a hooker tells you are lies or exaggerations. Some of their sob stories are true as many of these women do come from screwed up backgrounds (what kind of women you think enter and stay in this line of work for more than 6 months?).

But the sob stories that end up with a request for money you should automatically suspect. It's up to you if you want to send anything but you should assume it's money spent down the drain, some guys might want to send something just to keep the friendship going.

My advice would be to have a sob story of your own! You "confess" to her that the reality is that most gringos are no better than brasileiros, that many are deeply in debt including you, that this is why the world financial crisis started and that you too were hit hard by the crisis; and you can't possibly send her any large sum right now but maybe in a few months when your financial situation has stabilized.

If you want to keep the relationship going, you throw in that "maybe later" line and/or send no more than 200 reais. I personally wouldn't send any money unless I REALLY liked her and want to continue being with her on my next trip, but with some gdps this kind of bs won't occur. And I would never send more than 200 reais which for my situation I consider throwaway cash, sort of a "don't bother me for awhile" money transfer.

The part about gringos being in too much debt is of course partially true, but it's a way to indirectly tell the girl you're not her ATM or her ticket to financial freedom. But you optionally send a little amount of money and mention "maybe more later" to try to string her along/maintain her interest in you (if that's what you really want).

It's also a way to stroke their egos sociopolitically and try to gain some brownie points with the brasileira this way. Let's face reality: many Brazilians have at best conflicting attitudes about Americans (maybe Europeans too).

The gdp in particular suffers a lot of cognitive dissonance: she looks down on her gringo sponsors for being so gullible with their money, yet how can someone so naive have so much discretionary income to begin with? She ends up resenting not only the gringo, but her dependency on him. That's a recipe for some very interesting and intense interactions with your gdp!

I'm curious to hear what others think about these deceptive gdps although I don't think it's worth the potential trouble keeping tabs on them.

watchman - my apologies - i don't really recommend any tier one termas in rio except for the novelty value. and as novelty value goes, 4x4 has more bells and whistles, that's all. :d

one can object that you have had sex with a gdp, formed a 'relationship,' given or promised her money, accepted her pledges of faithfulness etc. this is a pretty poor argument on at least two counts. a) it is part of the game for her to make you feel special, that's what she does. like telling you you're handsome and you have a big dick - it's best to get over it. you don't keep pet crocodiles and expect them not to eat your chickens, it's against their nature, damn it! b) even if she was not a gdp / promised to cease being a gdp: most normal middle class brasilians have affairs. it's normal. they do not have western hang-ups about it. the only rule is, don't get caught. not to accept that, is simply forcing an unevolved aspect of western morality onto her. if you want her to stay faithful, rely on your ability to judge character, your ability to keep her interested, and above all your ability to be open with her without exposing yourself to risk. if you expect her to give up being a gdp and come to the states and marry you for instance, expect her single-minded devotion to start from when she moves in with you - that's day one in her books. believing anything else is, with due respect, dumb as they come, even with a brain the size of a cosmic intel processor.

the very valuable thing about the posts by sangue bon and bravo is being aware of the technology so you can avoid it happening to you. as someone pointed out some time ago, if you are entering private info such as credit card numbers or crucial material onto a computer not your own, you might want to open the microsoft on-screen keyboard to do so. not complete protection, but a good piece of trench warfare against keylogging.* or some people's laptops .

i'm not saying for one moment that you should accept my morals - as mr wilde would say, if you don't like them i have plenty of others. so please don't bother flaming me - we just disagree on this point, that's all.

I know what you mean about 4x4 but it is still good value considering the girls there. My favorite terma right now is Solarium. It is better on weeknights as it still has the party atmosphere that is now lacking in other termas like L'uomo. What can be better than a lot of half naked girls mingling, dancing and teasing.

I asked for curiosity and for recommendations. Like I said, I have been to 4 x 4 several times and I wanted to know what people thought was the next best place to 4 x 4. I actually think that 4 x 4 is a little overrated. Don't get me wrong, there are some incredible girls there but the girl to guy ratio is [CodeWord140] poor pretty often.

For example, I went to 4 x 4 tonight. There were some beautiful women there but my God there were atleast 4 guys to every hottie. That place just gets so crowded that it gets tough to take all the half naked guys all around you.

why do you ask though - curiosity? recommendation?

My direct answer would 4x4 - even if the ladies, by some chance, disappoint, it is still an impressive phenomenon, the show, the nooks and crannies. And if I leave, it is walking distance to some other establishments or (if those are disallowed), a short hop to VM.

But the obvious answer if that is the only one you've been to is to try a different one. L'uomo is less of a ripoff IMO than many and is convenient (central Copa, so walk, or get a metro snd it's next door from anywhere else.) I find it lacks atmosphere, compared to say, Cancun. But it has many, many fans. There's a couple of slightly less pricey ones in North Centro. Rua Mairink Veiga 30, for instance, is very reasonable, though sometimes the number of girls on has been small. Just round the corner, at Rua do Acre 61, Aquarios is cheaper still, yet nevertheless has the look and feel of the expensive termas (varies with time if day) and is handy for the likes of Florida if you fancy trying your luck when the sailors bring the girls out to play. But these north Centro places don't compare to the best upmarket termas for luxury. If they only improved the food, I could happily spend 14hrs in 4x4 (as long as someone else offers to pay bill )
