Fortunately, you are. 24-HR Antigen test is now accepted.

Normally the "shit" swinging is done by kids, with shoe-cleaners standing conveniently nearby. And yes, you won't see them coming. They once got me twice on the same trip. Not real shit though.

There is a small chance that governor Castro can make Eduardo paes change his mind. It wouldn't surprise me if carnival is cancelled.

I also feel sorry for all the tourist going to celebrate New Year in Rio. 80% of the hotels are fully booked. I got invited to a big private New Years party in Vidigal today so I'll have fun anyway.

    Proof of Vaccination

My impression is that Rio started these new restrictions because they weren't allowed to demand vaccination proofs from foreign tourist flying to Rio. Right now the covid situation in Brazil looks good, less new cases (but I guess they will most likely enter a new wave in February / March) and many vaccinated. The last thing they want now is a wave of omicron spread by foreign tourists. Rio doesn't want to risk the good health of cariocas because of unvaccinated gringos. These new restrictions are made so the unvaccinated gringos might cancel their trips. The cariocas in general seems to be fine with the restrictions, but if too many businesses looses many maybe they will remove some of the restrictions? Nothing is ever certain in Brazil. My guess many bars and restaurants will go easy on the new restrictions.

I'm vaccinated and I have no problems with the new restrictions. In less than a week I'll be in Brazil. For unvaccinated tourists it might be a pain in the ass. Can't stay in hotels or visit bars, restaurants or clubs. They'll be better off having their holiday outside Rio.

I'm looking forward to pass another New Year in Rio, but I'm starting to believe the celebration will be cancelled. I'll have fun any way, but it's a pity paying expensive money for an apartment during a New Year that might be cancelled.

    https://www.meiahora.com.br/geral/20...e-omicron.html
I have been vaccinated too, and I assume my CDC Proof of Vaccination Card will be sufficient. I will carry a copy along with a copy of my passport (As I usually do) while moving around the city. If I am not mistaken, Brazil is still asking for the PCR test 72 hours prior to the flight, however, to re enter the USA, I think now the new rule requires Proof of Negative result 24 hours or one calendar day before return flight.

I am very fortunate in that I will be staying at a Brazilian friend place during the next few weeks, but I do feel for those those tourists that paid those high prices for apartment during this time of year, and be limited to certain options. Hopefully, same time this week, I will be in Rio, writing an update on my trip experience entering RDJ, Brazil. Postive vibes!!

You can get registered (no need for cpf) sim cards at central metro / train station for 10 reais.

Add credits if you need them at any kiosk or pharmacy.

    Covid or The Malady:

You can take a simple antigen test within 24 hours of the embarkation to get into Brazil (please note, your airline system will show time in Brasilia, the capital). Don't be late for the gate as airlines check the digital copies of the documents and exchange the tickets to 'ready to travel' ones prior to boarding of follow similar procedures. I needed a PCR test back. Paid 300 BRL. The nurse visited me at the residence, and I got results exactly in 24 hours by e-mail. (send WA message to a promoter at +56 9 5077 0405. The test was done by Biomed Care Medicina Diagnostica +55 21 97913-0613) Connecting through the US with the recent change that requires a test within 1 day may cause some to take both tests, PCR and an antigen to comply with the US and domestic rules. Check the requirements for travel here: https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php You have to complete a declaration prior to travel and get an email back from them: https://formulario.anvisa.gov.br/ (Use a mobile device only; it's in Portuguese).

    Transportation:

Took GRU to SDU on Azul. You can buy a 'duty free' and place in your check-in luggage before a flight to SDU. There are ATMs on the way to Bossa Mall (turn left) and Uber station, including Bradesco. You should have data plan on your phone to call Uber. Taxi SDU to Copacabana is 35 BRL. The lounge at SDU is very basic. This time I've been at the MC Black lounge in GRU, - complete zoo. Uber is a transformational way to travel. Given the metro extension of 2016 you can take metro to any station and uber from there. Here are some tips for using metro (cash): line up for a machine that takes cash (billetes, cedulas) and dispenses change (troco); consider buying 2 separate 1 way cards if you plan to come back by metro, as often the only machine that sells cards may have a temporary issue, or available only at another metro entrance, or have a line up of people (and here you will have a chance to dance at the spot when you hear a jingle as machine dispenses you a card); familiarize yourself with the map near the metro station, as often the exit you needed is closed, especially during weekends; every station has a post with the map, snap a photo of it. You can also draw a picture of let's say intersection on Vargas and Branco, metro stations Uruguaiana and Carioca, and a few streets, like Buenos Aires, Rosario etc.

    Banking:

At the moment I'm out of 3,000 BRL with Bradesco – my institution has debited my account when Bradesco failed to dispense. So, what can you do? Avoid rush hours on banks, especially mornings after holidays, avoid weekends, avoid hours when your home bank system may be closed given the time difference, avoid withdrawals when you see other customers ahead of you have issues to withdraw cash. You can also increase your daily limit, take out money is small sums, take debit cards from different institutions or use cash to exchange. Exchanges may be close early on Saturday and closed on Sundays. Vinitours Cambio at Av. Nossa Sra. De Copacabana, 420 - Copacabana, is open till 4 pm on Saturdays. Changing back BRL into USD is cost prohibitive. All my pleas at Safra Bank for a better rate for 'family and friends' remained unanswered. You can pay also with your credit card. Some public places don't accept cash payments (like Museo de Amanha). Cash withdrawal from ATM using a credit card has the same problems as using a debit.

    Mobile:

I have got my Brazilian tax number. It took maybe 40 minutes to get a SIM and local number at Vivo. The cost was 112 BRL including 3 GB of data and 15 BRL of minutes. Vivo reps didn't want to issue a new number, so I had to convince them. Make sure you have reais loaded for calls and international calls are unblocked. You will also need a reliable own data plan to make sure you can upload all the documents on the way back and not depend on the outage in your hotel or residence at the last hours of your trip.

    Safety:

Police is on every corner on weekends. Things drastically change when you leave Rio the city into the state. For amusement, watch this one Bacurau, 2019 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2762506/ and you will get the idea.

    Hobby:

The girls came from Monte Carlo, 4 x4, W65, MV30, NY (Cancun), Onix Terapias, Eden Spa and MABS.

Only one girl's performance was lacklustre. Only one girl was rather plain in looks but complemented with excellent performance. Everyone else was above average in looks with own followed Instagram accounts. I would even rate one girl as 8. 5 (given her superb looks, Fellini and time spent at sunsets between Posto 8 and Posto 9 in Ipanema). What is really important that on this trip all girls really liked me (no theatre on their part), and I had top performance myself.

You can organize your list of venues using a local gparena.net. Word of caution: the posters mostly post below the median price range with higher end underreported or not reported at all. The absolute low range gets also underreported.

Generally, I look for value, and may suggest developing your own adjusted Pareto Principle plan for Rio (the initial Pareto principle for this hobby will mean 20% of girls take 80% of your budget, and 80% of girls take only 20% This way you can see what a higher end can offer. When you take your girl into Boteca Belmonte in Ipanema to watch a sunset and a fucking containership polluting the horizon, and you can talk to her about HER trips abroad, you will realize you're not here for scraping the bottom at the office buildings in Centro.

The above room has got great views of the city. The building does not require an ID to enter.

Entry: From a passage called Beco dos Poetas turn right into the building (Block A), then left to an escalator / staircase and make one level up to the elevators. Take an elevator to Floor 32 and then one floor of stairs up to 33rd. The elevators got a conductor inside, well. To get from let's say 32nd floor to 21st you have to get to 22nd floor and then down a staircase.

So, this building at the moment has at least the following:

    Centrobellas.com.br – Room 2102.

Delicias do Centro – Room 2101.

Maybe they are wonderful people and great performers. But judging by looks / age and lack of facilities the only explanation to indulge in sex there is a budget, where a fuck starts at 40 reais. If you like mornings you can call an escort, and every filthy dream can be realized for a pence at better turf and with more attractive partner.

Sundays you can schedule in advance with a vetted online girl. This is not my mode, I like to get what I see, to chat, to have fun etc. However, on a longer trips it may be an option.

    Tourism:

Just a couple of recommendations of many if you have not yet visited them:

Botanical Garden: https://www.gov.br/jbrj/pt-br/assuntos/visitacao/15 are $60 cash only Mondays: from 12 pm to 5 pm, Tuesday to Sunday: from 8 am to 5 pm. Rua Jardim Botânico, 1008, Jardim Botânico– (take guided wagons are $20 cash only).

Floresta the Tijuca: https://parquenacionaldatijuca.rio/o...-de-15-5-2021/ https://parquenacionaldatijuca.rio/locais/ many locations! You can take this one for the starter: Estrada the Cascatinha 850, Alto the Boa Vista, Rio de Janiero – free visit – Walk up to a waterfall and up – this is an uphill walk.

Petropolis: visit Bohemia Beer Plant (take an organized tour).

    Clearly explore the beaches:

"The beach's beauty is so peculiar that since the end of the 1950's people have been ritually applauding the last minutes of the sun, from Arpoador to Leblon – a common occurrence during summer that amazes visitors and locals that pass by. No one knows for sure when this habit began, but it became so popular among locals that it is now one of the trademarks of the cariocas and their love for the sun, the sky and the sea. ".

The suggestions are simple, avoid the weekends (anyone building a skyscraper of washrooms and lockers near the beach can become a rich man) and mind the Sun as UV gets to insane levels, which leaves you safe levels of radiation at sunrise and half hour before and after sunset. Water was 21 degrees Celsius with waves 1. 4 meters to 1. 8 meters. You can plan it on windy.com.

For sunsets use this one: (here is a plan, for example, for Sunday November 14th, 2021 in Ipanema):

    https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/braz...h=11&year=2021

14/11 rise 5:01 am 110 the ESE, Meridian 11:37 am 0 the and, set 6:13 pm 250 the WSW.

So, the sunset should be seen over the ocean in Ipanema, but not Copacabana.

I hope my post may help you to carve a piece of this future in Brazil for yourself.

My advice? Stay in shape, both physically and mentally, stay in top 1% of earners for Brazil and share your wealth, improve your Portuguese, be kind, stay crazy and horny, and keep your faith.

Very simple, I only used Airbnb for the first time this year in Rio. Airbnb has capability to message the owner of the apartment, every apartment I was interested in I messaged the owner with my questions and one was am I allowed to bring guests into the room? They all responded with yes but no big loud parties. Try it you might like it.
