I will be having a lay over in Rio starting Dec 30 to Jan 1st & will be by myself. I had visited Rio with my fami ly the week before but didn't have a chance to sneak off to a Terma Then. On the 30th I was planning to Visit Monte Carlo in Copacabana because I was told by some locals that 2-3 million people will be in the Copacabana area for New Years eve & they didn't know if the Termas would even be open then. My Hotel this time is in the Centro Area so I was thinking maybe Cancun or MV30 on Dec 31st & Jan 1st. Does anyone know if any termas will be open Dec 31st and Jan 1st?

As long as I know, no way that any Therma is open on both 31&1!

Oh for sure thanks for the info! We are currently in Buzios for next 4 days but I will definitely check out some of the Termas when we get back. It is funny because we live 2 blocks from the Solarium one. I remember the last time we were in Rio my wife pointed it out to me and said there are hookers there. Wondering if it is too close to home.

Is it safe to assume there is no action in Buzios?

It was the case a few years ago, but it seems that some indies have decided to fill the void. Yes I agree with you it's better to stay in a hotel you know is GDP friendly ahead of time to avoid any problems.
