I have never been in Rio during New Years (pre-pandemic), let alone during the pandemic. Anyone know of any good spots to hangout at during the countdown, any fireworks spots, or simply any good spots to go partying at during that time? I'll be in RJ and was hoping someone can shine some guidance for that day.

The fireworks takes place in Guarabara Bay, so the place to be is Copacabana beach. The fireworks are literally on / over the bay so it can be seen from all of Copacabana.

Not sure if there will be fireworks this year though.

I haven't heard anyone mention about things closing. Seems business as usual but they did just have an election and one girl told me they really don't know what will happen.
