Hotels are always a big topic. I have never been in Rio during New Years (pre-pandemic), let alone during the pandemic. Anyone know of any good spots to hangout at during the countdown, any fireworks spots, or simply any good spots to go partying at during that time? I'll be in RJ and was hoping someone can shine some guidance for that day.

The fireworks takes place in Guarabara Bay, so the place to be is Copacabana beach. The fireworks are literally on / over the bay so it can be seen from all of Copacabana.

Not sure if there will be fireworks this year though.

Well, I slept well last night having stocked up on some ambien. There's a place at Barata Ribeiro, not far from Cantagalo Metro where I picked up some.

I haven't heard anyone mention about things closing. Seems business as usual but they did just have an election and one girl told me they really don't know what will happen. This was my first time exploring the boates here in Brazil, the concept seems nice, but the overall vibe not so much due to them being mostly empty (might have to do with the coronavirus). Casablanca seemed to be the better place with the most girls that night, although I didn't see any stunner there and they seemed mostly bored.
