Dude, we said nothing about getting dressed. Why can't some of you guys stay on point. We're talking randomly walking around Rio, and not about social affairs and nothing about dressing like a slob. We're talking casual wear.

If I were going to a social event I, of course, would dress different. Damn! Like talking to women here sometimes.

Totally agree. And Rio is not different than Buenos Aires, Moscow, Shanghai, Bucarest or Jakarta in that respect. Brasil, as all emerging countries where a whole stratum of the population has dramatically improved their lifestyle, is very much a class society, where people want to show (particularly by the dressing style) which class they are in. That said, to each its own, many guys here only "deal" with faveladas, so being dressed like a slob is not really important. But to say that in Brasil, you HAVE to dress "down" is simply silly. There is hundreds thousands of mid to upper class Brazilians who dress up to go out.

    Saindinha de banco

It is not really the way you dress that attract the thiefs but the fact that they know that you carry money on you. This is why the crime called saidinha de banco is a plague in Brazil. When they see you retreiving cash from ATM you may be an easy target. Thiefs called from their cell phone accomplices waiting outside in order to tell them that you are carrying money. THis is the reason why, in São Paulo, cell phones are forbidden in banks or near ATM.

    Prosal,

I hear what you saying I too like to dress VERY well with style and class when I travel anywhere no matter what city or country it may be being that many people won't ever go to the USA and see different type of people from other parts of the world, I like to try to dress very well when I go overseas BUT then again I like to go to nice night clubs and private parties when I am in Brazil and deal with chicks that isn't from the Balcony Bar or hood rats. And order to get into nice clubs you have to be dress up. Many of the girls I have met and hook up with when I am in Rio were from off of Facebook and other social media outlets and most of them have commented on how much they liked and on how well I was dress on many of my pictures when I went to different events so I can't show up looking like a bum and not groom well LOL

I would also say and add if you only plan on running around going up and down stairs to at those private apts downtown and seeing and ONLY dealing with hookers and going to Termas and putting your clothes in those small ass lockers then there is no need to dress up and ruin your Sunday Best LOL and it won't matter how well you dress or how you look the ONLY thing they care about his your money in your wallet. BUT to have a chance of going to nice nightclubs and bars and meeting girls other then hookers or getting some free pussy many girls love to show off guys from other countries to their girlfriends at least that been the case with me BUT if you don't have anything to wear but bum looking clothes forget it and stay with going to the Termas no matter what level the Termas are Tier 5 to Tier 1 LOL.

IF you are a tall guy like me 6'5 or so the chances of buying off the rack clothes in Rio are really small or if you are a fat guy I guess there are some BIG boys stores around town because I have seen obese guys in Rio wearing ok looking clothes.

No matter how you dress or where you go you STILL have to have some street smarts and having a dummy wallet is always smart and good to have when you go overseas or even in some of your major cities here in the USA you have to have good street sense and by all means DON'T get drunk or wonder off in some dark street or be cheap and don't take a Taxi and try to walk at 4:00am. Or take back two hood rats to your apt. Or any hood rat for that matter and watch your drink at all times.

I have to be honest I have done some things over the years looking back in my younger days I shouldn't have done like walking around at all times of the night by myself ( I felt since I was tall and knowing how to fight and thinking I was a bad ass that no one could fuck with me) BUT I have a different background then many guys some of you guys know about my Navy background that I won't go into BUT as I get older I try to make smarter choices now in life...

But eventually the odds caught up with me, I guess. The key is to minimize the damage and not get hurt. In my case the thieves got away with very little cash, but more importantly no credit cards. I had always been prepared for the mugging to happen and had taken precautions; no big deal, really. I was out and about again the following night, hunting for pussy.
I was in the same area and some trannies cam after me. I told in portuguese that I only fuck the ass of a woman and not a bitchman. Talking about stirring the pot. I always carry 2 Papermate pens in my cargo pockets. One on each side. They make great stabbing tools and either one of my hands has access for protection. Most of the thugs really don't want a confrontation, so a dummy wallet is always good. Toss the dummy wallet at them and their off and running to their favela. Maybe walking around Copa, Ipanema isn't safe, but watch you going to do, stay locked up while on vacation. Just stay where the public is and wear your old causal clothes to Rio. And even buy a few clothes in Brasil that you don't look like you brought your things from Park Ave. NYC.

Don't walk where there are no people and look to see if you are being followed.

Red Light used to be a puteiro, then it turned into a regular discotheque and now it has turned into a puteiro again.

    Red Light (Mosaico Part Deux)

Last night I went to the grand opening of a new club called Red Light. It is under the same ownership as that of Mosaico. I was invited to this club by a couple of my local Brazilian friends, ie there is no way I would have discovered this place on my own. Like Mosaico, this club is also located in the Praca Bandeira area. The address is Rua Pereira de Almeida 73. Praca Bandeira. Rio, RJ.

We arrived at the club at around 11 pm. The club has 2 floors, which are just rectangular shaped boites with a stripper pole in each boite. The first floor was empty so we proceeded upstairs to the 2nd floor. There were about 25 guys and only 6 girls when we arrived! I am not sure where the talent pool is coming from, probably Mosaico. They had a standard strip show every 20 minutes or so. I stayed at this club until 1 am and by then, there were about 15 girls and 30 guys. I couldn't find any girl worth sessioning and I would say only 2 of them were above an 8. One of my friends sessioned with a girl with a gigantic ass. He said she was an ex-pornstar but I don't remember the name he told me. It wasn't anyone famous like Fabiane Thompson, Monica Santhiago, etc. It cost him R$150 for one hour but he was up there for over 90 minutes. I guess on opening night, they weren't strict on time. He said the facilities were a little nicer than Mosaico and there was an ensuite shower in his room. I didn't like the environment here at all. It was soooo dark in there and the music was just incredibly LOUD. There was no way you could have a conversation with any girl! It reminded me of a darker, louder Termas 502. Ha. We thought about going to Mosaico afterwards, but then I asked him if it was just as dark at Mosaico and he said yes. So I said forget it, let's go to Lapa and have a beer which we did.

I'm not sure how much the entrance fee was, but I had one beer and left there paying R$8. So maybe it's R$8 and includes one free drink. I had a flyer that gave me 50% discount on consumption, but I forgot to use it. Then again, I didn't really consume much. Ha. I reckon over time this club will have more new girls working there. Either that or it is going to cannibalize the pool of girls at Mosaico resulting in fewer girls over there.

I attached an image of the club flyer.

The venu of Rio+20 is the Riocentro Convention Center in Baja Tijuca. The current event at Ft. Copacabana is a photograph exposition.
