Hi brothers,

I will be travelling solo in Rio from mid December to Early January.
Any kind folk, please help me out to plan better and I will pass the goodness around.

I have just returned from a very long trip using a lot of FF miles. I was in Rio for the Olympics and then using the great options United has for flying to Asia via Europe I went to Germany then Thailand.

Thanks to Sperto I became a Centro Prive devotee. They are great.

My favorite is Vital Space Therapise on Pres Vargas 482 Room 1514. The girls there are all great and I did them all. Not one bad experience. My personal favorite is Gisele.

• R$50 entrance - unchanged. Waived if sessioning before 6 pm.

I really want to visit the low tier Termas in Centro and the Trash areas. Any safety precautions I should keep in mind or should I just stick to the costlier termas. I am not rich BTW.

Also, I have tracked few GP from gparena. Is it safe to have them over at one's hotel or is it an invitation to be being scammed?

Those of you who arrived in Galeo the last 1-2 months, when you passed the customs with your bags, did all the passengers have their bags x-rayed?

I know they used to examine random passengers who got a red light when pressing a button. A few times I've seen them x-ray random passengers bags. However the last years I've only seen one custom guy around not checking nobody at all.

I'm curious if they have changed their routines and starting to x-ray all the bags of the arriving passengers ( a rumour I heard)? I'm not bringing anything illegally, just too much of some stuff that's being limited to a low amount.

When they were remodeling the airport I was given a behind the scenes tour. The plan was that all the bags would be x-ray as they came off the planes and passengers with suspicious bags identified. They actually tested this and found it unworkable. What would happen is you would be waiting for your bag and an agent would come up to you and tell you your bag was in another area. Customs deemed it more trouble that it was worth and went back to the you seem to have a lot of stuff method.

BTW, there is a separate location off the airport where they take commercial cargo that did not pass inspection as well as items confiscated from passengers. There they post the legal notices and it is auctioned or stolen as the case may be.

Need the advice of Rio experts.

I had a good friend (not a working girl) who wanted to get her tourist visa to visit America. She owns a home and has a job. She asked if she could use my name when she went to the embassy and I agreed. I told her that she should probably go to Rio because it was much easier to get a visa in rio than it is in sao paolo. You can forget about getting a tourist visa now.

Is there any one from the board who knows if that is the case? CCn you still get a tourist visa after you have been denied?

Customs is looking to up their revenue stream by taxing the electronics Brazilians typically purchase abroad. If you're bringing electronics or "gifts" into the country, just make sure everything is out of the box.

Last week, almost 500 military police in the state of Rio were assigned to traffic duty with the mandate to issue fines for all traffic violations. The state and municipality are broke; they are doing everything in their power to generate revenues, even though their solutions generate pretty paltry sums relative to the current fiscal needs.

I think BackDoorD might be correct. I just came through customs on Tuesday with two large suitcases. I was sent to the X-ray machine. It did appear that all the people at the X-ray machine had many bags.

Also, people in front of me with little luggage were waved on through.

I had many electronics in my luggage but I was not questioned. They X-rayed my luggage and sent me on through.

If you do have a lot of electronics or cell phones (for your favorite girls) - book a connection via Sao Paulo. The last few times I entered Brazil in Sao Paulo (GRU Airport) there was no customs control whatsoever. No X-ray machines, no button to push, no-one in uniform to even stand there to scan the crowds.

The girls might speak more English in the places you identified but in general its low level. Go where ever you want to go. Some lower tiers will have no gringos so it depends on you as a person. Some are fine, some are intimidated.

Trash areas with no portugues will guarantee some inflated prices and getting hustled at times but its all a learning curve.You know VM for 1 hour shdnt be more than 130...half hour 50/60 etc roughly.
Prices are listed in T31 etc and MC,4 x4 etc u can see prices......dont tip everybody..maybe cloakroom lady in MC! shes great. f the rest

Check your hotel is GF. Got to book for 2 upfront. Etc. Bring them over. Lock your shit in the safe. Usual safety precautions.

My flight out of Rio departs at 21:45 on United. So basically the day to get my final rounds in. In past trips 4 x4 was always my last stop before heading home and today the plan was no different. Hit a prive, mv30 then 4 x4 to end it. Again, nothing goes as planned. First stop, Local Zen, Av 13 De Mayo #2414, I had a list of two girls to see. The presentation was given and I didn't like any of them. So I asked if Bia or Gaby were working, the receptionist said no, so I said I might be back and left. She asked which one, I told her the one in the next room near reception but I don't know her name. About 10 minutes later, this girls has the girl I want with her. She asked me, is this the one?
