Went to 4 x4 yesterday and they raised the prices another R$10 just for the heck of it. New prices:
    • R$50 entrance - unchanged. Waived if sessioning before 6 pm.
    • R$340 for 40 minutes
    • R$360 for 60 minutes
I haven't been to 4 x 4 for a long time, the only termas with robe that are still good for me are Cancun and Mv30, it is more relaxed.

4 por 4 is not as good as in the past, it is too stressful, there are many other cheap termas, they have rooms with bathroom the only inconvenience there is no sauna or robe.

Taxes are now bad in Brazil, they increased price by 10 reais to be able to pay their facility. That is why Brazil will never be stable.

My favorite is Vital Space Therapise on Pres Vargas 482 Room 1514. The girls there are all great and I did them all. Not one bad experience. My personal favorite is Gisele..
Really good info especially for guys looking to make their first trip. Thanks!

About Thailand, a little travel tip. It is one of the top destinations in the world, especially from Europe, but it is not the final destination. In talking with a number of hotel operators in Bangkok, I found out many people stay only one night because the fares connecting through Bangkok were cheap. If you are planning a trip to another SE Asia destination always check the routing through Bangkok.

Just looking up some regular clubs, has anyone been to Club Six (hip hop music) or Fosfobox if so what the setup and atmosphere in these spots, dance floor, seating, vip sections, ladies, etc.

Like I said we find a spot, we go on there on the regular and the ladies will come.
I've been to Club Six it was some years ago. It was OK. There were, if I remember correctly, three floors, different music on each one. Some pretty girls, mostly in their early twenties. My friends didn't really like the place, said it was too much work trying to pick up a girl. Expect long lines outside, but interestingly enough when they found out we were American security let us in first!

Why do you say that? Not to start a debate, but I don't see those as being a reason not to go. Although I can speak passable Portuguese, all of the times I have been there, I almost never need to speak to anybody. Just get out of the taxi, bus or train, walk around, choose what you like, ask how much, pay it and go upstairs (although it took me years to finally session with a chick there, but that's another subject, LOL). Not much Portuguese needed for that IMHO. As far as going solo, if you follow the route and take normal precautions, you should be good (always a possibility of something going wrong). I would suggest that a newbie go during daylight (if you're not comfortable traveling at night) so you can see where you are going better and get acclimated to the area.

It took me a few years (sometime in the mid to late 2000's) to finally make the trek to VM, due to the negative things that was said about the place. My buddies who checked it out before me made it sound like the worst place ever (just mentioning it made them cringe, LOL), took me a while mostly because I was busy with other things, but I finally said screw it, took a train (following instructions from these sites) and went solo. I've been going solo since and never saw anything to cause me any concern about returning.

Of course speaking Portuguese and having a road dog is always better, but don't let the lack of those things stop you. Do your research of how to get in and out of there and you should be fine IMHO. I'm sure Backdoor and other vets have better experience than me, but I'm just basing this on my experience and observations over the years.

Visting Rio In January around the 11th

    Hello all,

I will be visiting Rio around January 11th for a week. I have been to Rio 5 times but. Not in the past 7 years. I was thinking about staying in South Beach (hotel) in Copacabana. I want to visit Centaurus. (Was my favorite term in Rio).

Is anyone going to be there during that week that would like to hang out?

Is there any recommendations for a Hotel similar to South Beach in Ipanema?

Is the WhatsUp used a lot in Rio. Can you connect with them in the States? Wanted to know so that I could set something up before I got there.

I will start with Hotside and see if I can set up something up before I get there.

Any recommendations for places to go while I am there or how to set something up with a girl before I get there?

I really want to visit the low tier Termas in Centro and the Trash areas. Any safety precautions I should keep in mind or should I just stick to the costlier termas. I am not rich BTW.

Also, I have tracked few GP from gparena. Is it safe to have them over at one's hotel or is it an invitation to be being scammed?

Any kind folk, please help me out to plan better and I will pass the goodness around.
The girls on hotside and all those who have a fair number of reviews (rather than GP arena, I would recommend forumx.com.br as it is especially reliable, especially for girls in the BRL 150-250 price range). As long as your apartment / hotel is girl friendly, you should be OK with the girls. The worst thing a Brazilian can be is a thief; it's considered extremely low class. More of a risk when getting take out from somewhere like Mabs.

You'll be fine in any of the 2nd tier termas in centro (MV 30 and the like) as well as the prives anywhere in the city. VM is probably not the best idea if you're solo and don't speak any portuguese.

Another place returned many times was.

    www.espacomentecorpo.com/

    All great performers.

If you find yourself down in Barra the Tijuca where the Olympic venues were (take the new metro) about 100 yards from the metro station is a building that houses two Prives I liked:

    www.clinicaeuroriospa.com.br/

Use this website to read great TDs.

    https://translate.google.com/transla...r/&prev=search

Don't worry about speaking Portuguese. They don't care. I used google translate everywhere. Great thing about having Tmobile here in US is they give you unlimited data in Rio with 4 g in many places 3 G the rest.

The best thing to do is finding a wingman who knows Rio.

    X-Ray

I'm curious if they have changed their routines and starting to x-ray all the bags of the arriving passengers ( a rumour I heard)? I'm not bringing anything illegally, just too much of some stuff that's being limited to a low amount.
When they were remodeling the airport I was given a behind the scenes tour. The plan was that all the bags would be x-ray as they came off the planes and passengers with suspicious bags identified. They actually tested this and found it unworkable. What would happen is you would be waiting for your bag and an agent would come up to you and tell you your bag was in another area. Customs deemed it more trouble that it was worth and went back to the you seem to have a lot of stuff method.

BTW, there is a separate location off the airport where they take commercial cargo that did not pass inspection as well as items confiscated from passengers. There they post the legal notices and it is auctioned or stolen as the case may be.

    One and Done?

Need the advice of Rio experts.

I had a good friend (not a working girl) who wanted to get her tourist visa to visit America. She owns a home and has a job. She asked if she could use my name when she went to the embassy and I agreed. I told her that she should probably go to Rio because it was much easier to get a visa in rio than it is in sao paolo. (I know former help girls who never had a regular job in their lives and they all got visas in rio.) Meanwhile, I know a few professionals, one even being a emergency room doctor who all got denied in Sao Paolo.

Well, in typical brasilian women fashion, she ignored my advice and went to SP for her interview. She just called me in tears because she was denied. They didn't give her a reason, they just denied her. Now she wants to know what she can do, if she should try going to rio now. I told her I was pretty sure that once you get denied, you are fucked. You can forget about getting a tourist visa now.

Is there any one from the board who knows if that is the case? CCn you still get a tourist visa after you have been denied?

If you're bringing electronics or "gifts" into the country, just make sure everything is out of the box.

Last week, almost 500 military police in the state of Rio were assigned to traffic duty with the mandate to issue fines for all traffic violations. The state and municipality are broke; they are doing everything in their power to generate revenues, even though their solutions generate pretty paltry sums relative to the current fiscal needs.
I think BackDoorD might be correct. I just came through customs on Tuesday with two large suitcases. I was sent to the X-ray machine. It did appear that all the people at the X-ray machine had many bags.

Also, people in front of me with little luggage were waved on through.

I had many electronics in my luggage but I was not questioned. They X-rayed my luggage and sent me on through.

If you do have a lot of electronics or cell phones (for your favorite girls) - book a connection via Sao Paulo. The last few times I entered Brazil in Sao Paulo (GRU Airport) there was no customs control whatsoever. No X-ray machines, no button to push, no-one in uniform to even stand there to scan the crowds.
