Just wanted to let you guys know I am back after several year hiatus. Was in Rio the first week of December and wanted to rate termas for you guys. The termas were fairly empty with fellow mongers. For some odd reason I like it crowded cause then I am less of a focus for the girls.

This time I preferred:

Solarium.

Monte Carlo.

4 x4.

Centaurus.

Then again I loved them all.

Some notes regarding the GP scene during the carnival.

* Most privées are closed.
* Ho-beach. I went to ho-beach in front of Othon a few times during the carnival. I noticed about 20 GPs/day. Half of them were propably doable, but very few sexy ones. I chatted with a bunch of them. The prices they asked for was everything between R$200-500. I had no intention of buying their services so I didn't negotiate. Some girls had travelled from other cites, like Brasilia. They told me they expected they could charge R$500/short-time when sessioning with gringos. They were not even good-looking. Dreamers.
* Orla. Along the avenida in Copacabana there were strolling GPs looking for customers. They could just as well had "Puta" written on their foreheads. Some of them looked great. They were very flirty even though you were accompanied by a GF.
* The best quiosque to meet GPs is the large yellow Skol quiosque, open 24/7.
* Mabs. I would never think about sitting down at Mabs, but I passed by several times the last week. It seems like the carnival attracted some more GPs to Mabs. Awful quality.
* Regular girls. Carnival is a great time to meet regular girls. The blocos had hords of beautiful partying girls.

I recognize that transexual Bruno from the article. Funny how this he she was hustling next to Balcony looking all innocent and capable of stealing your credit card to buy an Iphone. I learned my lesson from Copa night scene that if you are not careful enough and acting like a pray its almost as simple as your asking for it. I do admit that some of them are nice but some these late night spoiled Copacabana night stalkers working girls will follow you and eat you like a piranha. They wise ugly chicks from Rio are hustling here in London, UK because they are making per hour higher than the programa fee in Centaurus.

Goodnight cinderella is an age old type memory-wiping drug and very popular with GDPS in Rio.

Precisely because of activities like this I have never picked up any puta off the streets in Copa or anywhere.

I will always prefer a terma or even VM which at least has a casa where the girl has an affiliation / pimp / mamasan. You are at the mercy of the unknown on the streets.

Help is never coming back. Cheap marketing tricks luring gringos back into a spot the size of Hotel IBIS' toilet. Let go of the past. Roll with the times and the changing opportunities.

Recent article (yesterday) shows police busting 2 trans and 1 woman -- all GDPs in profession if not practice -- for doping clients and stealing their money. In Copacabana, of course. Making this worse is the fact that the "blonde" is actually kind of hot, all dolled up.

Yes thank you for this reminder, this has been a problem for many years. Never leave your drink unattended, if you're staying in a hotel hopefully they have taken a copy of her identification. If you are staying in an apartment keep all of your valuables locked up and after you enter the apartment lock your door from the inside, remove the key and hide it in a good safe place so if you do get knocked out she ain't leaving with your stuff while you're out cold, she will have to wait until you snap out of it. Then when you wake up if you suspect you were doped before you let her out make sure you have all your valuables.

Totally agree.

Privates, clubs with rooms included and termas are the safest option. You can always invite a girl in your place, but girls you already met in another place if you really liked her.

Mabs and other Copacabana clubs are known to be problematic, many girls steal if they have the opportunity, I've never picked any girl from Mabs. Help is a total joke, many transsexuals.

P.S: good luck for people that chose to monger in Rio de Janeiro in the carnaval. Some places will close, more girls on vacation.

Hi all,

I am back from Rio, would love to share my experience of the mongering scene. Hope it helps non Portuguese speaking first time solo travelers (Gringos) to the city.

You will need to set up the following things to start your exploration:

1) Cash.

2) Mobile Sim.

3) Translator.

4) Transportation around the city.

5) Homework.

Cash:

Dollars are not accepted. Make sure you exchange your dollars at any of the available "Caixa". If coming in through Santos Dumont airport, there is one in the basement of the Bossa Nova mall that offers decent exchange rate. Try not to exchange at the hotel reception as they charge exorbitantly.

If using the ATM beware of the withdrawal limits. I believe Itau has a 750 Real limit (at least I was not allowed to withdraw more). Bradesco has a 2500 limit so that should suffice.

You will find many ATM's across Centro. Just beware of your surroundings while withdrawing cash particularly during desolate hours.

Try not to use your card at the Termas as I heard a old British geezer arguing at the counter that fraudulent transactions have been done from his card.

Mobile Sim.

There are many cellular operators store across the city. There is a "Vivo" store between the Candelaria and Sete de Setembre stations of VLT in the centro area. You will need your original Passport while applying for the SIM. Folks at the store were really helpful and got my SIM activated as well. I got the 600 MB + xx talk time for 37 real including all charges. Maybe you can get a better deal, but I didn't search for any.

Translator.

Once you have an internet pack enabled on your cell, you can roam the city like a boss. Most of the girls can barely speak English let alone understand a thick accent. So Google translator is there to rescue.

Transportation.

- Well that depends on where you are staying to begin with. Now though I have a conservative bias towards safety I stayed at hotel Atlantico Copacabana. Advantage is that it is very well connected. The Rua Siqueira Campos metro station is right across the street. Also it is a girl friendly hotel, just ensure you book a room for two and the girl has an ID card. The breakfast is also very good and gives you all the energy you would need for the hard work **wink wink** during the day.

Cons is that the hotel needs a revamp badly. I guess it is still running because of some iconic status maybe. I found it to be very popular with the locals. Also, the walls were very thin and you could practically hear someone fart in the next room.

Pro tip: Get a Rio Unico Carioca card at any of the VLT stations that will allow you access to both VLT network as well as Metro.

Most of the places of interest is in Centro so here is how to get there.

If staying at Atlantico Copacabana, take a metro from Siqueira Campos to the Carioca station. Exit on the side of Av. Rio Branco and you will find it easy to navigate there.

Well, US do really have some big changes ahead. This Scandinavian airline Norwegian will change the industry as you know it. The changes have already started, but this is just the begging. I would recommend you to follow the upcoming airlines like Norwegian and get the changes first hand. If you look in the media (specially in US) you will see that the US airlines and the trade unions use every chance to stop those changes (and as you guys have experienced) for a reason. They are way to expensive.

Unfortunately you can't do that, you have to show up for every flight, as I said I travel physically, I show up for every flight I never missed or canceled a flight.

I've only traveled to Brazil from Canada or Europe to Rio de Janeiro. I've only used Canada airlines, TAP Portugal, KLM, Delta airlines, and American airlines for this destination.

The tickets keep rising in the USA.

Today I checked out Angels, Danys, Stellas and a bunch of other privées. I ended up again at Espaço Mente Corpo today. Good selection. Today I went for chocolate. Paloma, morena escura, 23 years, small nice firm tits (even though one kid), strong academia legs and a medium-sized superfirm round bubblebutt. Posed happily for photos. Sorry. But this ploy doesn't work anymore. While one would think that it is my right to use whichever part of an airline ticket, in whatever order, the airlines prohibit this. And they always win.

No way can you buy a cheap ticket from Europe with a stopover in the US, and then just get on in the US, using only the second part.

If you are a no-show on the first flight. You will find that the remainder of your trip is canceled.

If you think you are smart and cancel that first part. The airline will charge you extra for the privilege of only using the second part.extra

I am a travel agent for 30 years and have been following the airlines turning into fare Nazis and control Nazis this entire time. And they are getting away with it (high donations to members of Congress, maybe?

Unfortunately you can't do that, you have to show up for every flight, as I said I travel physically, I show up for every flight I never missed or canceled a flight.

I've only traveled to Brazil from Canada or Europe to Rio de Janeiro. I've only used Canada airlines, TAP Portugal, KLM, Delta airlines, and American airlines for this destination.

The problem is from the USA, I often buy return tickets via Delta Airlines or American Airlines from Europe (Holland) to Rio de Janeiro, with one stopover or two stopovers (Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Houston) From Houston or Atlanta direct flight to Rio de Janeiro. I don't pay over 500 dollars. It is very crazy many people that are on the same plane that travel from an american destination pay three times as much as I do.

Tickets are not expensive, the taxes make tickets expensive. Every country has different prices when you travel.

I now understand why European people travel a lot because it is so cheap to buy their tickets ex I bought a return ticket from Amsterdam to Rio de Janeiro (480 dollars) and then bought another return ticket via Turkish Airlines from Amsterdam to Tokyo (430 dollars) and bought another return ticket (450 dollars from Amsterdam to Rio de Janeiro for my next trip to Rio de Janeiro).

P.S: I am now in Tokyo, I will use my return ticket.

I have been checking flights often but prices continue high. I paid $760 last time I went and that's what I'm looking for again. But they're mostly over $1400. It was a daily flight from toronto to rio. Air Canada canceled it a few months after.

I think an additional problem is crazy airline pricing (at least on American).

A roundtrip from JFK to GIG from March 27 - April 18 is $1757 on AA Flight 973.

A roundtrip from DCA to JFK to GIG (via Flight 973) on the same dates is $1096. Three weeks ago when I bought my ticket the price was $844.

In other words, the same flight from JFK to GIG is $700 cheaper if you add another flight! Crazy!

That is because one is direct and one makes stops. You can always get a cheaper flight if your willing to make stops.
