I was actually thinking of going to Rio from the Feb 25th to the 5th of March to experience carnival. I heard the bloco parties really spice up the whole city but looks like it'll be sort of mild this time around huh. Haven't booked anything yet but wondering if it's worth it to go or not? Feels like it might be a lite carnival which could be a good thing and a bad thing. The last thing I want is to book my flight and reservations and then have everything cancel, still plenty of things to do in Rio granted but I want to get the authentic Rio energy that only carnival brings out. I have an SP girl I'll be flying out to party with so the low number of girls in the termas and such won't be an issue for me.

Same here, I don't know if it will be worth it to stay in Rio for Carnaval, maybe much will be canceled and public parties shut down.

I am bringing a Thai lady with me, which is a little different, but Omicron is surging in Thailand and the bars are closing. I have been to Brazil many times, since the days of the Help Discoteca, so I won't really be interested in Brazilian garotas, the Thai lady will be sufficient. I just don't know how much fun will be on hand for Carnaval.

I don't know what happened with your experience but I have been to the same Pacheco (534 Nossa Senhora) like 5 times last year and it always worked the same. Walk to the back and the guy at the computer gives you a slip with the test you want. You take the slip to the front cashier and pay. Take the receipt to the back again and the guy puts you in the computer. You wait in line in front of the door on the right. The lady comes to get you, you sit down, then she swabs your nose. She tells you to go wait outside. After 10 minutes the guy calls you back to the desk to give you the printout and it is also emailed. 15 to 20 minute process depending on how many others are in front of you in the line in front of the door.

But it is only select Pachecos. All of them do not do tests. It appears they now have an oral test that is R89.90 instead of the nasal swab that I have been taking for R110.

This is exactly the same one I went to. About a week and a half out, I started doing a little recon on what Pacheco I needed to go to and what time etc. When I stopped at the first one, the lady pointed to the wall and said not here, but these locations are my three choices _See attached photo_. So I made my way onto 534 NS Copa which was the closest to my apt and I made an appointment. Turns out, I'm glad I did because when I arrived at my appointed time, there was a long line of Americans and Euros who were there for walk ins. Maybe it was the timing (tourist trying to leave after the New Year) or maybe it was coincidence. Another good thing about making an appointment is the guy who does the tests is not there everyday, and they'll let you know what days work / don't work so you can plan ahead.

For all mongers from the USA. Please do not worry about the 24 HR timeline. The USA does not use hours as a timeline. It uses days and it has from the start.

So, you can take a test more than 24 hrs in advance. For example, my flight usually leaves SP around 10 pm on Sunday which means I have to do my test ONE day before my flight which is Saturday and I can do it at any time on Saturday. I used to take the test on Thursday afternoon in So Paulo back when the requirement was THREE days and not 72 hours.

Similar experience for me, I left just before Christmas. I got sick in the middle of my stay and went to a Droga Raia in Ipanema for a rapid test, results were in Portuguese and emailed approx 5 hours later, cost was $28.73 on my credit card. For my return flight to the US, I paid for a mobile service to come to my hotel room the day before I flew out (the day before, more than 24 hours as the rule stipulates). The hotel arranged the service in my room, the results were in English and emailed within about 6 hours later, cost was $56.18 on my credit card. The email address which sent me the results: biomedcarelaboratorio@gmail.com . Convenience vs cost can always be debated and the test was only scrutinized once when I checked in with the airline, but this is not something I'd want to cut corners on. Mobile testing will continue to be a viable business in 2022 tourist areas, so costs should come down. The one downside is the service came an hour early and I was balls deep in a cutie, made for a comical 5 minutes in the room during the test. The 2 nurses weren't hot but very professional and low key.

I don't know if this is the right thread but any suggestions (besides Viagra, Cialis, etc) on shorting the waiting period between sessions? I'm in fairly good shape, workout all the time. 46yrs old. It takes me a while to get back up and running after that first release. Would like to get 2 sessions in at the Casa's / Prives / My place with escort / in that hour.

Maybe taking the Viagra / etc right after the first session may help.

For me, consistent strength training keeps me feeling more horny and likely to release again. Natural testosterone or something like that. Harder to keep this routine on vacation for me especially with drinking, which I don't do at home. But even a modified / shorter workout in the mornings may help. I definitely put it in my notes for the next trip.

Reading the paper. Gringos fight in Hilton. A Brazilian woman got irritated when she thought the American passed the line at the reception. The woman grabbed the American and he knocked out her German boyfriend. It seems the American was asked to leave the hotel.

I'm back in the states so a little advice about getting a rapid antigen for return to the USA. PCR tests will not work because all tests must be within 24 hrs of your flight and rapid PCR is very hard to find in Brazil.

Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recent recovery for all passengers prior to boarding. ​Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery.

Enter covid test in Google map and it will show the list. I think the original poster was lucky and also posted incorrect information because he said PCR test, instead of antigen.

BM who are saying things like "oh its super easy, just walk into any Pacheco" are spreading disinformation, this is not true. Maybe one Pacheco somewhere in the vast expanse of Pachecos does this, but even then might not be a rapid. Figure this out ahead of time so you're not stressed out.

So I hit darkroom today. I picked a girl who shall go unnamed, and since she would not DFK, I canceled, and the casa refunded the $140. So overall it is a positive for Darkroom.
