This year I stayed in Leme and found it positive in as much as it's quieter than Copacabana. It's a bit of a walk to Help! but I managed to lose half-a-stone (seven pounds) in three weeks from walking back and forth, and besides, I doubt I'll be walking to Help! anymore. Leme is also close to Prado Junior, which is just fun to hang around, day or night as there's always something or someone to watch.

Ken has a partner, Rodrigo, who will pick up and deliver you from and to the airport for R110. He's a safe driver (safe being relative of Rio chauffeurs) and his car is clean.

I was there over Christmas/New Year when prices go up steeply. I paid around £55/$90 per night. I only had a studio but it was on the sea front with a lovely view. Does anyone think this was a good or bad price?

MC also has gone up. It is now 70 + 70 + 170 which is R310! As far as the talent, I would say mixed. Definitely some stunners but a lot of huge bundas. And I mean HUGE.. To each his own. that's just not my thing. If one can't find something they like there, I an sorry for them.

Wow, that's some depressing news about Monte Carlo. When I was there back in November, it seemed to make a comeback as far as getting better talent. I went there more than any of the other Copa termas on my last trip because I liked the new talent and the price had stayed basically the same for the last year.

MC was once under the same ownership as Solarium, but no longer. Solarium had recently raised their prices to R310 for 40 minutes, and now MC follows suit! I am not sure how I can justify going to MC anymore, except Tuesdays for free-cabine day with a coupon. If I'm going to pay R310, I might as well go out of my way to Solarium where there is a guaranteed abundance of talent and more of it than MC.

Seems only a matter of time before Luomo follows suit with this price gouging. Luomo at the present time, at R240 for 40-minutes with an entrance before 7p is definitely the best value in Copa.

I really appreciate the posts concerning the nighttime action (or lack there of) after HELP closed. I searched this forum for information on Meia Pattaca post HELP, and unless I missed it, I don't think anyone has talked about it yet. Anybody have some information to share on this.

Myself and another mongerer kind of made a prediction that some of the nighttime HELP girls may now come out during the daytime and hang out there for less money. Did that happen? Lot more girls at MP / beach or is it the same (prior to the closing)?

I took a look to the apts, they look nice but way too expensive comparing with where I am: 2 bedroom, fast net, close to miguel lemos, sat tv, air condition, totally new, rebuild inside last year and all for 50$! But yes, I had to book about 3 monhts ago, I was introduced from a friend but something one year ago I thought it could be impossible, very nice apt at cheap price, is now true. (just to let you know how the most famous agencies for gringo rip you totally off with the prices.).

My first and second trip to Rio (2009), I went with the wonderfulcity and as mentioned, Frederico is a really cool guy and he did take care of my needs while I was there. First apt I got from them was in May 2009. I thought the room looked really nice. The issues (which could probably happen anywhere) was there were only 2 towels when I arrived on a Saturday and I didn't get any more until the following Tuesday (not cool, but used the Laundry place to help) and the other biggie for me at least was that I couldn't plug in any of my US electronics (laptop, radio, etc) in the wall socket, because of the difference between the US and Brazilian wall socket. Fred took care of that after I called him, whereas he brought me an adapter. Internet no problem. Just something to be aware of and ask about, before you arrive. Saw a few ants crawling out of the kitchen garbage can, but that didn't bother me. Got a can of spray and moved on. As long as I don't see roaches, I'm cool.

Oh yeah, this apt was like 4 blocks from Meia Pattaca and about $70 bucks per night. He rents out cell phone for $5 per day and I believe the maid service was like $20 per day.

On their website, you also have to pay upfront like (I believe) a third of the total bill, before they will hold the room. So, when you sign up, you state what room you want, how many days of maid service, how many days of cell phone rental, airport pickup, perhaps a couple of other options I can't remember, then a total bill is drawn up, and then it states how much of that total you'll need to pay now in order for them to hold the room. I paid through paypal.

Another "oh yeah", when I got in the apt, I paid the remaining monies due, and then Fred said to me that he forgot to tell me that he was supposed to get an additional refundable deposit from me, which will be returned to me at the end of my stay, pending of course that I don't destroy the apt. I told him I have no more money to give him and wasn't comfortable with that. No argument ensured and he quickly acknowledged that he shoudl have told me that upfront and let it go. Yet, another thing for you to be aware of.

Second stay with them was in July 2009 (my official second trip to Rio). I told Fred I wanted something closer to the action and that's where they got me an apt on Miguel Lemos. Perfect location, but room seemed to be like half the size of the apt in May which was 4 blocks away. Bathroom was like a little closet and with me being 6'4, 270, you know I wasn't very comfortable getting in and out of there. NOT Fred's fault that I'm a McDonalds fan. Again, just telling my experience. This time, Fred had an adapter waiting for me, so that I would be able to plug in my electronics. Great! More than double the amount of towels! Outstanding! Again, internet, no problem. View from my window: Spectacular. I was also right between Meia Pattaca and HELP. Can't get no better. Price was like 5 bucks cheaper than May. I did the same deal with renting the phone, getting a couple days of maid service, and paying that deposit up front online, which again, I believe is a third of the total cost.

Third trip to Rio: November. Talked to veterans who were down in Rio in May and July. Realized that I could do better, in terms of cost, location, and room size. Also found that I wouldn't have to give up a deposit either. All of that panned out, as I did take the advice of another mongerer and got in touch with this gentleman named Franco.

Franco got me the best looking apt yet. Looked outstanding. It was two blocks from HELP/Meia Pattaca, charged me $55 per night, didn't charge me extra for cell phone rental, didn't charge me extra for maid service (although I left a nice tip regardless), and I also didn't have to give him a deposit before arrival. Could it be that he went the extra mile because I was recommended to him by a regular customer of his? I don't know. All I know is that in November, it saved me a lot of dough and I got a nicer place. Franco is now in my Rolodex.

Well, that was my experience. I believe that Fred and his mother are great people and they did take care of me. Can't say nothing bad about them personally. For me though, working with Franco was a better and money saving experience. I believe that Franco may have been mentioned in this forum before or in another topic concerning apartments/hotels.

4 terma in 5 days and I took only one girl and having everytime 600 reais, to be sure I could take her for one hour, and been horny as a dog with 3 balls.....yes, you guess right, something is wrong here !

4x4: I already wrote about it, on monday I was shocked to find it with not much people, some good ones, the same of january 2009, no new girls nice for my eyes.(possible to smoke in bar upstairs)

Luomo:the entrance worth it just to see Bia dancing, but even her, was more lazy than usual, she is great, but I did not want to repeat with her, 2 new girls talking all the time together. About 22h we were in 6 men....
No possible to smoke.

Solarium: friday night they dress normal clothes, not good to see what you are buying, too horny to resist, I took a good one, but nothing special, I was too weak and stay with her 1 hour in cabine the bill was about 500 reais, it means about 192 euro or 277$, sorry but too fucking expensive for me ! ( only couple of beers and coca cola, not Dom Perignon !!).

Montecarlo: about 40 girls, but only 2 were good. The terma were I was approached most of times of girls asking if directly and immediately if I want a massage, or to fuck or a good bj, almost neither curious to know my name or where I am from or too lazy to lie fake interest in short conversation.Smoking only in whyskeria where for 2 hours there were 5 guys watching the television caring nothing about the girls in the bar area.

Another thing, I did not see men that party there, I mean, men with for some time drinking,having fun with the same girls. It looks to me a sort of factory sex, everybody looking around until sometime some decide to bring a girl upstairs.

I have to say, for me there is not much fun to go to terma now, all my previous times to rio, terma was a great place where to spend time, looking girls smiling,dancing, nice conversation and most of times I ended to cabine, even with not super wonderful girls, but cause I HAD FUN !

My feeling is.....with price higher, ( entrance and couple of beers and you are higher than 100 reais----38 euro----55$ !!!), it means you think twice before to go to terma just to kill the time after the beach and before late dinner, so a bit less customers, means less money for girls, that instead to try better to convince man to have sex, they try harder ( in a colder and faster way, sometime in almost unpolite way and they get pissed off when you deny their approach ).

So less money, less fun, less mood to have sex, higher prices, ALL works to make things become worst !!!

Higher prices, think twice whom to go, they get tired to try, they look boring, they yawn and you think, what the fuck I am doing here ? 100 reais for what ? 120 reais 2 hours 1 girl from karlamodels and I can talk with my buddy even at the beach.....

Very interesting that all the time I played to be surprised and curious about the weak-slow evening and I asked to girl about it.....first they say often, oh, it is only today....then when I said, I was in the other termas and.....they asked me, how is there ? Girls work there ? Many customers ??
They are more than aware of the situation and they hope you suggest them that in that particularly terma it is good business, I am sure, they could have zero problems to leave to another terma, despite the problem the situation is the same in all the terma I visited.

Less than a week here and despite the good weather, the first bad thing was to not have a place where to go after midnight, second thing the different vibe,higher prices, tired girls in terma.
2 bad news, time to try something different, what ? Well...stay tuned, no matter what I will do, for sure I will report step by step as I always did.

After reading this forum for a few days, and getting aware of what to do and what not do while I'm in Rio. Maybe you guys can help me out with one issue.

I just rented an apartment from wonderfulcity from December 30 - January 9. Margareth and Frederico were very nice. In fact, Margareth was so nice that she cut the price by $500 - it should be noted that this apartment was listed with another agency for the same original price that Margareth listed the apartment.

I only talked with Margareth but I met with Frederico - he let me into the apartment and I paid him the balance for the apartment. He is a young guy but a good guy. I had no problems with the apartment so I had no contact with them after the first day.

I had a roommate who left the day after I did. He had no problems at checkout and he checked out at 9:00 p.m. This is an important fact because another person was checking in as soon as my roommate left. In other words, they did not request my roommate to leave early so that another person could occupy the apartment. I think this was extraordinarily generous on their part.

a nice saturday afternoon out in centro. i´ll pop it into sections as i know some members are just interested in p4p and some are interested in the wider brasilian stuff.

there´s always people who are a bit new to centro, so i thought this ´typical´ day out might give some ideas perhaps.

the bus drops me in centro at tiradentes palace, which i like for the music and books shop a few yards away. i have a quick wander along ouvidor towards the bay to see if any of the termas there are open (they´re not) but it´s a nice area anyway – upmarket cafes often with outdoor tables and music. i´m cativated by a blues sax player whose cheeks go in strange directions. i look in at ba25 which is less busy on a saturday, but the atmosphere isn´t as good as it can be – even renata seems peevish, so i stroll over to the nearby uru210 which i mentioned in a previous post the other day. my two recommendations if you come here are a) hang about until a doable appears. the nice ones are possibly busy when you walk in. and b) pay the extra for the nice room. this is 45r for 30mins (as opposed to the ba85 type stalls at 1r a min) but is well worth it. fully aircon, nice décor, total privacy and plenty of room. i hung around for a cold drink till a bubbly creature with a bubbly smile and very enormous breasts (au naturel). just before i put a condom on (i think she was gonna go for bareback, the naughty safada), she grabs me and gives me a very silky cool bj. shortly after penetration, she starts to frigg herself, continuing till she has a very loud, violent orgasm. it´s at this point you´re pleased the room is fairly sound insulated compared to the others. afterwards she is all cat-got-the-cream and curls up in spoon to purr. ignores the mamas an banging on the door twice and eventually asks me lazily, ´are we gonna move?´ a nice start to the day. i took a pic of her v.e.b. to post later. again, if you try this place, do wait for a nice woman. there are uglies there too. but it´s new and they are making a big effort, sweeping and polishing and being extra nice to people.

after i posted about saara before, some people pm´d me for more details. it´s especially nice early saturday afternoon (it shuts mid-afternoon though). there is less pressure and the girls stop to flirt as they try to upsell you on goods. from vargas, just take a right after uruguiana station and keep going. the prices seem to get progressively cheaper the closer you get to the park at the end. i got a couple of t-shirts (hint: anything to do with surf is reasonably ´cool´) for 5r each, and a nice bathmat for 2r. i saw bermudas at 8r and havaianas at 6r.

i sometimes come in here – the park at the far (western) end of buenos aires, for some quiet r&r. there´s a colony of cats, a lake, big mango(?) trees, and small mini-hog -like creatures. usually the odd tramp or two but it is reasonably safe. except today a police car drives through and drives over a guy´s foot. he must have been dozing. it´s spurting blood all over the place and he´s screaming and yelling. the police car eventually stops and backs up and carries him into the back. hopefully they´ll give him more than a band-aid ooer.
free dance lessons
heading back towards rua carioca (along visconde do rio branco) i come across a new(-ish?) dance studio. at least i´ve not seen it here before. it´s on visconde do, just opposite the end of lavadrio (the road from lapa). they are offering a free first lesson. advertised styles include forro, salsa, tango and zouk. carnaval hotel prices
i had hoped to be able to give you better news, but it might help as a guide. this is an excellent area to stay if you are doing carnaval at sambodromo, as well as being near to p4p amenities. these hotels are adjacent to praca tiradentes (no connection to tiradentes palace). the ibis is the closest you´ll find here to recognizable western standards and very reasonable as well as fully gf (you pay for the room, not per person). they have rooms just now at 165r (weekdays) and 145r (weekends). but are sold out over carnaval competition dates. prices vary wildly, but to give you an idea, their rate for 12th feb to 15th feb is 279r. i´ve stayed at the ibis and reckon it´s ok. formule 1 next door is also sold out over carnaval proper though they are usually marginally cheaper. rio hotel opposite (afaiaa you can only book in person, but i may be wrong) is the sort of place that should pay you to stay there. their rate is 50r, but even they are sold out over carnaval.
street carnaval parties / jazz festival
these, as well as practice sessions, are starting to build up all over town as rio gets into gear for carnaval. there´s often a good barbecue on offer and a great community atmosphere. i came across two today – one just before lavadrio (see above) and then a bacteria (percussion) practice just off rua carioca. it was pretty awesome – i love these – and i love exchanging the thrill the drums bring, the shivers up the spine, when exchanging eye-contact with total strangers. i watched one full rehearsal then sat down for some yakisoba (a remarkably spotless asian café just off carioca i´ve never noticed before) and listened to another round. btw i think the jazz festival starts on the 20th.
miami peep
jump the metro back to sq and have a quick look in miami peep for a quick grope. this place is so tacky but even worse if you order the wrong girl for a private session (ie one that had her photo taken 20yrs previously). i change what i think is the last of my tokens for reals. but get caught out when i pull out a pocketful of change in the supermarket that includes a left-over miami peep token. very embarrassing. fortunately the check-out assistant just laughed. asked them when they shut – told me hours are 1pm-9pm. it is too tacky to describe – please do a search for a description of the gymnastical mutual gropes in the private booths.

Yet not been to Montecarlo, I will do it asap, however I was talking in luomo with one girl who said, many were thinking Help girls could end to terma, honestly in 4x4,solarium and luomo none Help girls.

So guys, yesterday after solarium, I'll report later, I went to sleep at 23h, cause really I had no mood to go to Balcony and/or the prado junior boite walking, wasting of money, effort and I am not Tom Cruise for the impossible mission to find a friendly, nice, overnight girl down there.

Honestly I feel a bit "stupid2 to go to sleep so early, I am in holiday right ? But so far as here all changed, so I thought let's try something different.

Well this morning I woke up at 7h and I went, after years, to run-footing on avenida atlantica, I went back, shower breakfast and I feel great.

A couple of months ago Centaurus went up to 450 and they asked for it up front after waving in some loud mouthed gringos. All of these things offended me since I have known this place for many years. I left and won't go there as long as there is such a price difference. I don't expect them to come down.

Wow 450R is expensive. You take a girl with 150R from balconi my friend says but I didn't ask him what the girls look like! I'm going to Rio next week I don't think I am going to centaurus with those hight prices. I will try monte carlo, I did that last year hade some fun with a stunner. You have any other Suggestions?
