Yes. I just got to Brazil today. They were doing random spot checks at GIG Airport this morning. Tourist activities
On day 2 (Sunday), since everything was closed, I decided to tour the Christ the Redeemer statue. I had a good time and it was a great way to pass the time. Astoria Palace still blows. May be good for bringing girls in. But if you're a light sleeper like me, avoid at all costs. Walls are super thing. When I complained about the noise, they moved me up to the 13th floor (top floor, except for the pools). I was initially on floor 6, but you can literally hear all the noise from the ground floor. The problem with the 13th floor is that the walls are still super thing and the elevators make a huge thud sound every time it moves. It sounds like large weights being dropped, metal on metal. The only redeeming features are excellent service (people are super friendly) and the included breakfast, which is slightly better than I'd imagined. Although it pales in comparison to Thailand. Since I first used them 5 years ago I book my pickup and return rides from and to the Airport on all my Int'l trips. They'll be right there at the front of the entrance waiting on you holding a sign with your name on it soon as you clear customs. They have been professional and always on time. From GIG to Copa its about 20.00 each way.

Your transfer costs you about $25 US. The Uber Black I booked cost me about $6 US. I'm not saying what you did is wrong. But once you know where to go and how to book (Uber Black), why pay 4 x the amount? The only reason it was such a headache for me was because I didn't know where the Uber lounge was.
