It is just the days on end, like 4 days a week with a 20 or 21 year old where she wants to listen to only brazilian music or watch a brazilian novella series all fkn day long that I have to put the headset on and rock some springsteen or listen to english youtube.

1300 days and still have a language barrier? I've been to Brazil 6 times and only for 2 weeks at a time on average and I can speak with the local brazilians pretty well. I use duolingo and pimselur to improve my porto. When they use slang I have a bit of a trouble but that's the same for any language.
