First time in Rio, for a couple of days. I've been to Colombia about 8-10 times now, but wanted a different scenery. Stayed at an upscale hotel in Copacabana, right across the beach (posto 5). FYI, I was able to bring up a girl the first night, but when I tried 2 days later, the front desk enforced their no visitors policy (plenty of motels in Copa, about are are 120 BRL for a few hours).

I'm looking at hotels at the moment, best I see in centro is Hotel Atlantico business center. From the reviews it seems a good choice on trip advisor, My only questions are will I have to walk ages to find public transport? And more importantly is it chica friendly? It's a huge hotel so I'd assume so, but the fact it states business in the hotel title gives the impression that they may be strict.

Where would you guys suggest to stay in rio for a first timer? Not interested in the beach, just looking to pull from Brazilcupid and go to prives, so wouldn't centro be ideal?

IHMO avoid a hotel in Centro, it is dead after 7:00 pm (I never had any problem, but theses empty avenues look scary). You will be much better in Copacabana.

In areas between Zona Sul Copa and Centro there are viable options that do not at night "look scary". Catete, for example.
