I went to Puerta Plata, DR once, and stayed at Blackbeards resort. Thumbs Up on the beaches and the warm Caribbean waters. Thumbs down on the women. I found them too transactional and clinical. Other friends went to Souza and had similar experiences. That trip turned me off to the DR. That said, I have a friend who's been going there for years. He's got a good collection of ladies. He finds them online. I need to vet the them in person, get a feel for them.
Well, if your friend is willing to share, you can have a great time in Sosua. Not having to dig for a rare gem can be a huge differentiator.
This is a really helpful analysis and comparison. Much appreciated! I'm definitely second guessing myself (primarily due to language. I speak zero Porto) but I'm probably booking Rio tomorrow. Your info and comparison was the exact confirmation I needed.
The part that the other guys failed to mention is that nobody cares about that shit. In Brazil people are people and they do not have the hangups that some other countries may have. Go and let loose.
Who remembers the guy that used to work on Copacabana Beach back in the day that wore the sunga (Speedo) and had some big ass tumor in his nutsack? If that guy could walk around like that everyday then I assure you they will have no problem with you wearing a robe in a private fuck club. You will cheat the fuck out of yourself by going to DR instead of Brazil.
Valuable info, thanks, Mr. E. Not sure I needed to know about a nutsack tumor! LOL. But point well taken.
Not only does Sosua has a beach (more than one, by the way), but it's a much nicer beach, too, along with the ocean where you can actually enjoy swimming -- unlike Rio beaches with their extremely strong currents where the waves will throw your around like a metal can.
The reason to go to Rio over Sosua is that a) it's a huge and fascinating city, b) mongering in Rio is WAY better and cheaper than Sosua. You're practically guaranteed to have a great time in Rio even as a newcomer. Sosua is a good place in terms of proximity to the US. Plus you'll do great if you cultivate your own harem over the years, but that takes time and patience that I lack. That's why there is a never-ending debate in the Sosua thread between veterans and expats on one side and everyone else.

Weird ass story. What does her being a hooker have to do with anything? She said she was sitting in the car with a friend when the guy (a stranger) came up. Seems he may have been one of those youtube prank guys or something. He used deodorant spray and a lighter to make a flamethrower and her hair was burned. He sent her a message on whatsapp later offering her money not to say anything. How the hell did he get her phone number to send her a message?
But if and when he does go to 4 x4 guess what? He's going to see that virtually every one there will be in agreement with those of us who say it's best to wear a robe to have "the full experience" versus staying in street clothes because they too will be in robes. To wear a robe is the clear majority view, not only here but within the broader termas culture itself.
Reminds me of one of these kids is doing his own thing. When in Rome FUCK what the Romans are doing.
I don't believe that on this subject anyone here has acted as if there's only one way to do things. Plenty here have said before that there's no one "right way" to monger. The man asked a question seeking feedback and people weighed in giving him their honest opinion on the matter. Take it or leave it. But if and when he does go to 4 x4 guess what? It's just that some of us strongly believe that you're missing out on an enjoyable aspect of being there if you don't. Somebody here mentioned that one of the places would want you to wear a robe over your clothes. Didn't someone say that? Now that in my view would look pretty absurd (and make it harder for a hottie to get at your dick)!
A few posts below yours, someone posted 'you got to wear the robe. '.

I agree, if you want to just wear a robe, great, if not, great too. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. I don't understand why people on here seem to think their preference is the only way to do things.

I have never taken my clothes off in any of the top 5 RJ Termas and I don't think I missed anything. Look, I get it. If you want to go along with the custom and it makes you happy, stow your clothes in a locker and wear the robe. But for me it is no big deal,
Blasphemy! Next you will be telling us that you do not pee on the wall when you get off the bus at the underpass and walk to Vila Mimosa.
As I've said on more than one occasion, I'm a robe guy. If you don't want it, that's fine, but if you're debating it -- get a robe. It really does enhance the whole experience, LOL. Not only would they be able to rich all parts of your body easily, but you can also visit a sauna and take shower before and after the main course. I just don't see the downside.
I think bringing your own robe is an overkill. Despite my large size, the attendants have never failed to deliver a robe that would fit me perfectly (sometimes it would take them a few minutes to find).
If you dislike the robe they hand you for whatever reason, you can ask for another one. They do want appreciate a tip from an occasional gringo.
Still want to bring your own robe? Go ahead if it tickles your fancy. This can be a nice conversation starter if you actually need one in a hoarhouse, LOL.
Just to throw my 2 real into the robe discussion: I have never taken my clothes off in any of the top 5 RJ Termas and I don't think I missed anything. The girls will still grope you under the table, you can still make out and fool around with them as well. In a couple of Termas like Solarium, my favorite BTW, they want you to wear a robe over your t-shirt and jeans, but in other joints like Perola Negra customers can just wear their street clothes.
Look, I get it. If you want to go along with the custom and it makes you happy, stow your clothes in a locker and wear the robe. But for me it is no big deal, It is not like the RJ Termas are in any way comparable to Macau Saunas where stripping down and wearing a robe is required. I enjoy wearing a robe in Macau Saunas because it is an integral part the sauna experience. I mean if you go to one of these bordellos, you owe it to yourself to have a thigh massage and a Japanese bath performed by a pretty Vietnamese girl before you get to the main course and select a show quality girl for boom boom.

Not just Scandallo. SP is a better place in general than Rio to find an English-speaking girl.
What I like about SP is that you can lay girls who are not tutes in the true sense of the word. I have banged a not so successful journalist and a dental technician in Abboboro.

The 4 x4 robes are White, short, thin terry cloth / cotton robes like the approx sizing (of the first image) way above the knee. Now bringing your own robe ..... Well, if its full length (second image) or wearing a silk or Hugh Hefner style (third Image) or with you initials monogramed robe you may get some stares.....LOL.
Just keep it simple, if brining your own robe, Knee to slightly above Knee white cotton / terrycloth that you're comfortable in or just ask for a larger size robe.
LMAO at the Hugh Heffner robe. Not quite my style. LOL But that would be funny as shit to watch. Thanks for the advice. I hadn't really thought about length. And yeah, I searched the forum. That's what leads me to believe that I'd miss out if I didn't wear the robe. I guess I'll be buying a simple white robe. Thank you to all for the advice.
