This is Rio market tactics. If you get less customers due to the economy, then get as much as possible from the ones you do get. The Brazilian currency is weak, so it doesn't take genius for them to work out the price you paid in dollars two or three years ago and convert it to Rs. Add to that that there are many wealthy Brazilians. Add to that, things generally have increased in price in Brazil, not decreased. The big change is the exchange rate and these girls are not planning to go abroad unless someone takes them. Rio is an amazing fun city: just not the cheapo place of South America.

I agree totally, in Sao Paulo started raise of prices!

Lets get as much as possible of the customers is in their mind. After all mongering is still cheap in Brazil compared to other places they think the owners.

I finally got a chance to check out to this club last night with 3 other friends. The club is a lot smaller than what I imagined. When you walk in, there is a bar area on the right and then straight ahead is a lounge room with black leather sofas. This lounge is pretty small, with 3 or 4 separate sofa areas that can hold about 6 or 8 people in each sofa section. There are 3 floors. There is another bar / lounge area on the 2nd floor but the waiter said it was closed due to lack of customers. The 3rd floor has the rooms.

We brought the flyers from 4 x4 and got in for free. The 4x4 owner also has "complimentary entrance for 2" little business cards that he will give to you if you ask him. Here's how the pricing structure works:

- R$50 entrance which include food and drink consumption. To give some perspective - a bottled water cost R$9.50 and Vodka/Redbull drink costs R$42

- R$140 - R$160 for room fee depending on which room you get. The higher cost room has ensuite shower. I believe all programs are for one hour

- R$200 - R$300 girl fee - negotiable with the girl

We got to the club at 2 am. There were about 10 total girls that we saw, and we had seen 2 of them at 4 x4 earlier this night. LOL. Our first thought was - "Is this 4 x4 after hours?" I had spoken to the 4 x4 owner earlier in the night and he said that there are usually about 20 girls each night. I asked the girls at the actual club while I was there and they said usually 15 girls max working. The place has been open for only 15 days. There were about 12 guys in the club, including the 4 of us. So the ratio seemed to be less than 1:1.

As for the looks of the girls. There was an attractive petite blonde (about an 8) and then a slim mulatta (poor man's Jessica Alba), and then the rest were in the 5-6 range. We didn't really like any of the other girls out of the 10 that we saw walking around. My friend did like the poor man's Jessica Alba so he negotiated that she meet him outside after work at his apartment. She agreed to see him for R$500 for 4 hours and was getting off work at 4 am so he stayed and planned to take a cab with her to his apartment in Copacabana. The rest of us didn't want to wait around so we left at 3 am empty handed.

The trouble Rio Antigo had, despite great facilities, was that it was so difficult to get to -- and then, when you did, there was no guarantee the girls were going to be that hot.

I think this is a problem (not that hot girls) that is really hurting 65 right now, last few years, despite it having a *great* location 1 block from 4 x4 in Centro.

The way you describe it, I don't see any reason to go here except curiosity, given the necessity of cabbing it.

Maybe it will get better.

The general layout that you describe certainly sounds like that of the old Rio Antigo Termas that I remember. Like Cartman, I really liked Rio Antigo and found a couple of real gems there. I remember the rooms being pretty nice too. I have some good memories (and photos) of the place LOL!

I really used to like Rio Antigo even though it was a little tough to get to and you had to walk the gauntlet of street TS to get there LOL. They used to let girls dance on the bar. BubbaBoy thought they had the best chopp, if I remember correctly.

I had some good sessions there.

So now they are trying to make it a Cafe Foto like experience? If anyone goes to check it out, please post back. AZN and Vagabundo, maybe we can consider a visit one night during the week.

That's the old Passion Lounge. It is run by the son of the owner / manager of 4 x 4. Lots of GDPs used to go there judging by fb. Maybe a small change to put in rooms to session.
