Learning a language is much more than just learning words.

It would be easy if it was just learning words.

It's the grammar, mechanics, pronunciation, etc that make it a challenge.

Today, Friday I had my first visit back to Vila Mimosa in two years. It hasn't changed much. Pretty raucous and grubby. Went looking for the "gems". Depends on your budget and your taste.

Gringos go to Monte Carlo-rua hilario. Less than Centaurus and Solarium but still expensive by Rio standards.

Anyone can learn some words and phrases here and there, but to get to a good conversational level, you have to actually work at it, LOL.

I speak french and despite French sharing latin verb roots w portuguese, it is a trickier language to learn-grammar is unnecessarily complicated but hey the girls are worth it!.

Without it I would be nowhere near at the level I'm at with girls in Brazil. Nowhere. Its one thing charming a GDP and getting her to hang for expenses only with minimal to none portuguese but.

Its an entirely different proposition having to score with someone on skype speaking only portuguese.

Well Yes I like how the Brazilian men train there women. Its nothing like the USA or the Western tradition where you have to go on dates, If you like a girl you can be direct and have sex the same night. I know a few veterans that put me on to Brazil, told me to learn Portuguese and my world will open up especially with Non-Pros and even Pros will love you a lot more. I can understand there frustration as its boring to be with a English Speaking Gringo. Communication is Key. I remember when I went to the Philippines, It was one of the best mongering trips because the Girls Speak English, Its does make a huge difference as you can have a more connection on a human level. Unlike When you go to Columbia, DR or Brazil where after the sex, Its boring when you cannot communicate. But anyway.

I would say my first Brasil non-pro mini relationship / fuck fest through Cupid came after 9 months of learning and 11 months after visiting for the first time.

Monday night is the worst night during the week for mongering in terms of termas / boates. The garotas stay at home after Sunday chillin. They come to work Tuesday-so Tues. To Thursday rocks.

Friday but only up to a certain time of evening because they want to go out.

Saturday its zona sul or Florida or other late night centro places. Sub solo too.

Sunday its only Villa Mimosa but can be a bit dead Sunday for sure.

Not saying you can't find something on a Monday-it is possible but I have found 25 x more Tues.-Thur.

MC and Centaurus and Solarium are exceptions as they cater to gringos and charge more.

Since I learnt portugues I have stopped going to the Zona Sul termas completely. Haven't been for a year.

Going off the beaten path! Try as I might, I'm unable to get an early start. Arrived in Centro at 4p. Objective was Carla, A legend in the local boards. She's at Av 13 de Maio, 33, it's an interesting building full of Prives and Massagems. Two entrance are located on it's side, not facing the street. Entrance nearest Av 13 de Maio, is Bloco A. The other entrance is closer to Rua Sen Dantas. After figuring out how to get to the Massagem, got the dreaded, "Sorry, she not here today. "

Plan B was Bel Prazer, at Ave Rio Branco, 185, walking distance. It's another interesting Building full of Prives and Massagems. The guide books don't tell you about the circular ramp to access the elevator banks. Nor do they tell you that the elevators only go to the 20th floor, and in order to reach the 21st Floor and your objective, a flight of stairs near the elevators is used. (Who the Hell designed this Building?) Located Bel and got buzzed in.

Plan B was Tania. Tania gets rave reviews on the local boards and was available. She looks thinner on Bel's website. Tania is a Par 3 course, if you're not too big. Tania was Ok, but did NOT rise to the GFE+, PSE+ level of Raquel at Delirio in Copa. Damage of $R190, with the R$50 A+ surcharge, was close to Delirio rate of $R200. Prior to leaving I saw the available line up. Only one stood out. http://www.belprazer.com/taina/.

Afterwards went to checkout the Free Picasso exhibit at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, (it's not all about Mongering.)

Next stop was the 4x4 Whiskeria. All the years I've visited Rio, I never set foot in there. $R40 cover, 1 Bohemia and done, (it was Dead and I only wanted a quick drink.) Got a quick bite nearby and as I didn't want to return to Copa, figured I'd recon the area.

At close to 7p, Rua Uruguaiana 24 was closed. So Love 119 at Rua Da Alfandega 119, was open. $R9 for an Antarctica 473ML can. Only saw one acceptable garota: young, hard body, thin waist Mulatta, with a hard ass, and full of tatts. She got scooped twice while I nursed my beer. I'd go back for her. At this point I was still looking for So Lazer and found two boates on Rua Leondro Martins, (around the corner from So Lazer,) 03 was dead, 05 was lively. It's called Vanessa Rio 05. $R8 Antartica 473ML can, no cover. Closes at 11p, so I had a little over an hour to kill. Decent lineup of Garotas, I'd go back to inspect further. Had 2 beers as I was enjoying myself. Got out of there just before 11p.

While heading towards Uruguaiana Station, found another Boate: Bar 210, on Rua Uruguaiana, (210, I'm guessing.) It was crowded and Lively, with a DJ. It's a very small bar. Closes at 3a I was told. 473ML can of Antarctica is $R9. Garotas were arriving. Good place to hang after the other nearby places close, just to see what shows up.

I found it interesting that all these places, except for 31 Nightclub, had the same rates: $R45 for 15min, $R55 for 20min, $R70 for 30min, $R80 40min and $R135 for an hour. (Same owner, I was told. And Yes, those rates make no sense.) Except for 4x4, all these places had steep staircase to get to the bar. I had a good time killing an otherwise dead Monday night.

Caveat: The Garotas in these Trash places are not for everyone. If you think going to Vila Mimosa is hairy, then walking around Centro at night is not for you. Most of these streets are deserted. Proceed with caution, be able to spreak Porto and don't be flashy
