I'm not a Rio expert at all but have been there before and will be there next week for a couple weeks. Leaving a couple days before you arrive. Most hotels either don't allow girls or charge a large joiners fee if you bring a girl in. The way to go in Rio is to rent an apartment for your time there. That way you can bring who you want. Rio has no central location where all the girls can be found but the places are spread out through out the city. I would not rent a car and drive instead you need to look up the subway system on line and learn the lines. That in my opinion is the best way to get around. Most people stay in Copacabana area which is the tourist area. I don't mind paying. I don't think it's out of the norm. I read on Brazilian boards where guys are paying girls 1500 or 2000 reais for a weekend at Buzios.

The problem for me was two fold:

1. It's a reflection of the economics. "Brazil is the country of the future and it always will be" it is said. But, the reason that Brazil is the country of the future and it always will be is that the Brazilian way is to get even more selfish and insular, caught up in all the niceties of being Brazilian, the differences in pronunciation between Cariocas and Paulistanas, as if anyone really gives a shit, and all the rest, until the only people admiring their problem is a bunch of broke Brazilians.

So, therefore, turn the tables. Play the game. Pay the 50 at 4 x 4, or 100 at solarium, get numbers. It is sales 101 men. 10 numbers, 2 pernoites, 1 mini relationship. Beat the lazy, stupid, selfish Brazilians at their own game by being more lazy, selfish, and stupid; race to bottom, and win!

I would recommend Casa Behar or PM Turismo on Av Rio Branco in Centro. In Copacabana your best options would be one of the cambios at Xavier the Silveira (there are three of them at least on that street).

I changed up to R200 in the US as US Bank. Once I was Senna Rosa Avenue (parallel road to Av. Atlantica), there are tons of travel / forex places. Just window shopped the first 1 - 2 days. Later when I went to MC, their exchange rate (believe it or not) was the best. So every night at the end of my business, I just changed my required dollars for the next day and used them. Yes, it sounds crazy though. At that time in Feb, they offered me good rates, check with Ivan or Alessandra0.
