Ipanema, bars. Some notes from a visit yesterday.

* Shenanigan's Irish Pub, Ipanema: IMO only worth a visit because of the food. The majority of the girls are white, overweight middleclass-girls. Almost no colored girls at all. I could only note two GPs.

* Garota de Ipanema: Only couples and families. No GPs at all.

* Emporio: This rock bar has changed a lot the last years. Half the bar is gone. It's no longer popular among the young crowd. A shame as it used to be a good spot to pick up regular girls. I saw five gringos with old GPs.

Had very little time. Few days only. Didn't feel like going to multiple places without prior experience or without friends. So kept it low key, simple, relaxing and wanted luxury. So this is different than the experts in Rio. So this is not for experts but for brand new first time mongers who are willing to spend extra but want simple relaxed fun.

1. MonteCarlo: went 3 days in a row. Same line up. Excellent service. Very very convenient from copa beach. I walked 3 minutes and was right there. Safe neighborhood. Fairly clean place. Walked in. Got a key. Friendly English speaking receptionist. Went up, nice shower places. Then went up. Around 20-30 girls. Very friendly. Was right around the carnival period. Absolutely no foreigners / English speaking guys. Just locals. Made friends with 2-3 Brazilian guys. Drinks are relatively cheap. Picked a total of 10 girls in 3 nights and 13 programs. 1 included with Completa, and 2 girls doubles. Are $220 for girl + are $90 for room for 40 minutes gets you smaller room without bathroom attached. $330 for girl +are $120 for room gets you 1 hour which has bathroom. Few girls speak good English. Mostly no English. Decent selection. Very good experience. No issues. The support staff were above and beyond good.

2. Centauraus: went 2nd day for a change. But was just a poor experience. Get in the door and the girls pushing on you, and won't even let you get a drink. Had more girls than MC. But I would not rate any girl better than MC. Spent less than 20 minutes and the girls put too much pressure on you. Just overwhelming in a negative fashion. Was not attracted to any girl may be because of the pressure. Just came out and literally every one wanted tips. Was very happy to get out and take a taxi straight to MC. Spent every night till 2 am. The support manager was so good, when I had picked 2 girls for 1 hour at 1:10 am, who came and warned me that I won't get the full 1 hour as they close at 2 am, and recommended me to just take 40 minutes to save money.

So I have a fantastic experience at MC, more relaxed, no pressure, happy to drink beers, and chat with the girls etc. , they also had a costume night around carnival. Was a lot of fun.

I had more expectations of Centauraus. But was very disappointed. I like MC. So if some one wants a good time, just go there. Ivan is the mid-manager their. Speaks good English and reach out to him and he will take care of everything you need. (he got me everything I asked him. I lost my US phone in the taxi. He was kind enough to call from his office phone a US international call, the taxi guy picked the phone and made him come back. While this was happening, he simply said enjoy your drinks, just don't get into a room with a girl and wait for me till you get your phone back. So I am super thrilled I went to this place.).
