I have been to Rio for 3 New years Eve celebrations, its fun, but it isn't worth the high costs that you have to pay. After the fireworks, everyone just wanders around the beach drinking and eating, nothing to write home about.

I am really suprised there isn't any big name American acts performing this year for NYE. Does the meridien hotel have its own seperate fireworks display anymore? (I know the hotel has a new name, but I can't remember what it is)

Sperto: The Tijuca addresses are correct, except Mix Massagem is located in #506. There was a note on #402 announcing they have moved & to call a phone number but I believe they moved to Rua Conde de Bonfim, #246 cobertura 03. I took the elevator to the top floor then walked up a flight of stairs. The pricing was 50R / 60R / 80R but the talent (4 girls) was not to my liking. Let me know if my recommendation of Alice & Raissa at Anne's meets your standards. During my recent trip, Anne's was the only place in Tijuca that I sessioned in.

Never tried going to the Largo do Machado places especially since I was told that you can't just visit Ju Panteras and see the lineup.

The day before yesterday I headed to Tijuca. First I passed Mix Massagem (sala 506, not 402, my mistake). I came before 11 AM. Only two girls present. In my opinion January or February is the best cause its hot as hell down there and plenty of garotas on the beach. I just booked my tickets through BACC and got a pretty good deal 1180 roundtrip compared to booking straight from the airlines which was like 1600+. As far as the prices for the garotas goes, since you haven't been there in 3 years I'm sure its more expensive now. I go every year and if you go to a high end terma, be ready to spend anywhere from 350-480 reals. Also, if you book your flight, try to be flexible cause for some reason if you fly on a Tuesday or wednsday, its like $200 or more cheaper then any other days.

Today I wanted to see one of the famous termas, so I headed to one basically at random, Termas 181.

I would hardly consider Club 181 a famous Termas. For the best known Termas in Rio I would suggest you try 4X4, Monte Carlo, Solarium, Centaurus (if it's still open) , or even Termas 65. These are the the better places and generally more expensive, except for 4X4. THEN you will see the best that Rio has to offer. Places like Club 181 are low-end affairs. Fine for getting your rocks off but that's about it.

Jamie, I commend you for being adventurous and going to these off the beaten path places. I can highly recommend the following places as their talent pool was pretty good only a couple of weeks ago when I visited.

Rio Branco. 185 #2114 (Bel Prazer) 100R=40mins / 120R=60mins.

RB 185/2114 is always busy. Wait times can sometimes be up to 30 mins. However, they have a lot of nice looking girls with good attitude. My advice would be to avoid lunch time (12 noon to 1:30pm). Fridays are very bad also.
