Don't slam me guys. I know the forum is aggressive of late, and I have far fewer than a gargantuan 13 reports to offer. But I have been "on the ground" for 18+ months and I'm confused about the open / shut / prices at t22. Anyone prepared to help without making me feel like a bullied freshman?

Posts: 2Nicely done, for a guy who's never been to Brazil.
Thanks for your insightful point of view.
I just want to add a few more observations. Not only did this girl shun the prospect of dating Brazilian men, but she seemed obsessed with American culture (maybe as obsessed as I am with Brazilian culture, but in a different way). It's as if she wanted to divest herself of her poor Brazilian past and and "decorate" her self anew with American culture. I found it amazing how somehow from such humble beginnings could become so fixated on material things. Always having to dress up no matter where we would go. Always buying the most expensive cloths / shoes / appliances etc etc. As if her worth was now determined by what she surrounded herself with. I once spilled something on this girl's expensive table and I thought she was going to take my head off, LOL. I realize that this IS the negative aspect of American consumer culture that affects many women, but the difference I noted with this Brazilian girl was how she "lusted" after material items, the same way she almost lusted after me, and how she lusted after the "image" of a that perfect dream life. It's as if that sexually frenzied nature of Brazilian women that we all love, doesn't stop in the bedroom. They become frenzied over everything.
This made me wonder if this is a serious issue with Brazilian girls still in Brazil or if American culture "ruins" Brazilian girls when they get here. I. E. These girls realize that they become a much hotter commodity once they get into this country. Guys aren't used to girls like this like they are in Brazil. I heard that the only two groups that enjoy life in Brazil are the rich and beautiful. And I'm beginning to see how that might be the truth.
There's a documentary about black Americans going to Brazil to find love and / or sex called "Frustrated." After watching the documentary (after being with my Brazilian girl) , I became "frustrated" seeing how naive "some" (not all) of the black guys in the film seemed to be regarding Brazilian girls. They were just like me before my relationship, looking at Brazilian women like the holy grail of women. I mean, they still are the holy grail of women to me, but I realize how crucial it is now to be realistic regarding these women.
This all brings me back to the difference in education levels. For a lot of these girls, especially the poor, their hot body and pretty face is their meal ticket to a better life, the easy life. And they will take advantage of this card to the fullest extent possible. They'll even fake love. The thing is, I feel (and I might be wrong and correct me if I am) that even these type of women still cling to a Brazilian culture of love, community and family. It's as if, even in the "piranhas" of Copacabana, there lingers a warmth that is especially Brazilian. This was always the feeling I got in my stint with my Brazilian stripper GF and her friends. To put it another way, their "Brazilian sensuality" isn't purely an expression of a desire for material wealth, but also a reflection of a more sincere and loving Brazilian culture that they grew up in. And THIS is what makes things so frustrating for Americans and why I think a lot of American guys are duped by these Brazilian girls. It's hard to "source" a girl's true intentions because everything seems to be sublimated to a raw, all consuming sensuality (a sensuality that is more powerful it would seem, than any another Latin American people (who are known for their sensuality. I know Brazilians are not considered Latin, but just to make a point.). We, as Americans, are not prepared for such rawness. We're used to structure, especially in relationships. To be with a Brazilian girl is to be consumed. So you have to meet these women with an equal amount of passion without losing yourself in the process. Either by losing yourself to the beautiful "ideal / dream" of Brazil or by losing yourself in the "energy" of Brazil. The raw sexuality.
It's funny, there's actually a movie (I forgot the name) about how foreigners and Brazilian alike, idealize Brazil in such a way to create the most incredible false expectations. Anyways, I just want to end this rant by recommending a really great Brazilian movie called "A VIA LÁCTEA" with the beautiful Brazilian actress, Alice Braga. It's a really great love story set in Sao Paulo. It represents a more cerebral, natural and tranquil Brazilian love. Whereas a movie like "City of God" represents that unstoppable Brazilian lust, a fever dream of exploding sexuality and overwhelming vibrant colors. If anyone if interested in seeing this movie. PM me. It's a really hard movie to find.

Gentlemen,
It's official, Rio as we have known is going. There has been a spirited debate here recently on the demise of mongering venues especially in copa. This article basically confirms that recent events in monger land in Rio are concerted and officially sanctioned. New York mongers will remember that new York has not always been a mongering desert it is now. Heck, you could get laid in times square in the 80s. Enter Guliani and gentrification and the rest is history. What this says is enjoy the marvelous city while you can for it may not be there for long.
Happy mongering!

Posts: 173I just canceled my trip at the last min because it doesn't make sense to me anymore. I'm makin my next trip to Rio by Jan 5th. I just quit because the trip I made in May cost me almost $400 expense when I averaged the whole trip. Why not stay home similar chiks 1/4 the price. To be honest, Brazil is not longer cheap spot and I would luv to spend money there as long as there is serial nice talent out there.

I have to submit a proposal by next week for a study abroad program in economics for a community college. Would like to find an educational institution in Rio close enough to monger but far enough and safe enough to pass the smell test, does anyone have connections or know of Universities / Educational institutions. Where we could rent class rooms dorms ect. Does anyone have connections with the central bank, economic development, oil and gas industry, in Brazil that could give my students tours or speak to my students (in English). We are from Houston so the economic development of Brazil because of the oil and gas industry will be a good fit. I would go down the first year by myself to set it up, the school pays for my airfare hotel meals etc. Then I would have to go down with the students for three consecutive summers after that. Once the students go back I can stay for a few days and monger.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Chris
