I don't mind paying money when the payment requested is reasonable. Paying $1000 per night for some dinky Rio hotel makes me feel used.

I wouldn't call Copacabana Palace a "dinky" hotel.

Paying $1000 per night for some dinky Rio hotel makes me feel used. As long as I find clean, safe, reasonably priced place near the beach and the action. I am fine. Any advice?

Try Miramar hotel. The rooms are bit old and with some mold odor but it is affordable ($ 150 / night) with a prestigious open buffet breakfast in the morning. It is a 4 star hotel located on the beach (posto 5).

I think you already found the cheap ones! Seriously, good luck in your quest. Even with the exchange rate improvement, Rio hotels (other than hostels) are far from cheap. More and more people are going to Colombia.

I agree, those sites are good. My approach has been: A) positive reviews on gpguia or hotforum, be) good pictures on the website, if the web link is listed in the brazilian review. Very good girls from hotside and riosexsite. Some of the hottest became mini relationships, BBFS.

As a rule of thumb I'd distrust any website that doesn't include the direct phone number of the freelance. Avoid agencies.

And you'll need some good communication skills. Cause you'll be calling directly the girl and not many of them speak english.

But the truth is that some of the best girls from RJ are found on these sites.
