Absolutely most GDP's are from D & E groups. Any westerner is automatically assumed to be Class A, hence most GDP's will do whatever it takes be jump up into this group. This is why any Western guy that lives in Rio should have no problem having as many GDP's as he can bang come over and bang for free.

i agree if you live in brazil for any amount of time the need to go to termas 3-5 times a week spending a avg. of 400 reals a pop should have gone away after the 1st month of you living them, at least with the guys i know that live there they haven't been inside of a terma for months if not years the only time they go to them is when they have horny ass monger friends that have came from the states and want some brazilian ass. hell most have at least 14 girls on speed dial that can be at their place in a hour lol and with a investment of some pizza and beer and a dvd they can have a chick for the night.

well, i can only speak for me. so i'll try to explain and answer your points, and at least you'll have cartman's perspective. i will say that i don't think it is "bragging about living in rio." i try to write accurate reports, since i'm on the ground here, and i report prices. when i go to tijuca, i report prices there. when i do something crazy (for me) like a dupla at mc, i laughingly (at myself) report the price. it's information, not bragging. i basically order agua com gas so it's definitely not a drinks thing.

i opened a business here along with an american and a braisilan and some other partners. we have, now, nearly 20 employees. and we are a start-up. typically these days i work from 8.30am until 8:30pm or recently even 9. 30pm each day during the week. sometimes i can sneak out "early" at 7. 30pm or 8pm. and even then i am dead tired. part of it is the exhaustion of dealing with stupid brazilian bureacracy, and / or stupid brazilian service. every day. on friday i spent 3 hours dealing with the fact that our ex-accountants assigned the same pis number (kind of a tax # like cpf) to one of our employees that actually already was held by some other chick at some other company in rio. and for the last 9 months, she's been getting levied his taxes (he makes probably 3x her salary). and now our new accountants want us to pay her r$500 in exchange for her signing a release that she won't sue us. which will be easier than trying to file the paperwork to explain the mistake to the tax authority. you can't make this up. the stuff is just unbelievable and makes you exhausted. let me tell you how many documents are needed to register with the city of sao paulo to convince them you are an actual business located in rio and not just some shell company trying to dodge the 5% tax they levy on companies outside sp: 6 months of phone bills. 6 months of electric bills, photos showing the outside of your office building and the interior (with clearly marked numbers) , certified copies (cartorio) of your legal rep's rg (i. d.) and cpf, your estatuto social (kind of bylaws) , an online application that requires you to hand-enter all the information in these documents, and probably 6 other things. i mean, i take 30 minutes for lunch, but when i get home at 10pm or whatever, i need 3+ hours to chillax so i'm going to bed at 1am and getting up before 8 = not sleeping enough and being tired. and i'm an intj so when i do leave the office, i want to go home and recharge with music, a drink, some internet time, and not have to deal with trying to cram a club or bar in where i'm "on" trying to chat up brazilian chicks.

consequently, i don't really have time to meet "normal" chicks and honestly wouldn't know where to meet them. we have 4 girls in our office, and not a single one of them has ever asked to intro me to her friends. i don't really hang out or socialize with them. i'm the "boss." most of our employees make between r5k-7. 5k, some are on the lower side 3k. they are smart, class b or lower-class a type folks. college, decent families.

i don't go to clubs. never been my scene. and while there are some ok bars in copa / ipanema / botafogo, often i prefer to hang out on my roof deck with a better beer (for 50% of the cost) and relax at home. i went to lapa once and was so annoyed by the scene i haven't been back.

About academic system in Brazilian universities. Non pro scene in Brazil is not impossible and might work for someone who has a lot of time on his hands with serious dedication.
