Thanks Java Man. I will be leaving from the US on Tuesday night and arrriving in Rio on Wednesday morning around 10am. I will be leaving Rio on Sunday night around 10pm and arriving back to the US Monday morning. Since I'm a newbie I was hoping that someone could giv me a little advice on whether or not Copa would be good to visit during the Good Friday holiday. I would hate to come all the way to Rio and not get to experience any of the great action that I have been hearing about.

Is it safe to assume, you are flying in from the US of A? If so, are you aware that it requires a day of travel to and from the US? Leaving you only 3 days on the ground in Rio. You'll only be able to get a room at a hotel for that short a stay. Also the cheaper Centro termas are closed on weekends.

If you want quality sessions with GFE, BBBJ, CIM, etc focus on the mid-range termas, bars and apartments. Last time, I wasted a lot of time in BA85, U210, VM etc with nothing to show but blue balls, a stack of spitty condoms, and a high score. This time, I didn't even stop by.

Staying in Centro is more of a hassle than it is worth. The price is a little cheaper, it's close to the good spots, but it's way too much walking and way too hard to find food at night. This said after 2 times staying here. I'd rather pay +40 USD per night hotel, stay in Copa, and ride the metro to Centro like I used to do.

If you want to go out at night, and in Copa, yes. Now if you are willing to f. Ck yourself silly starting at 9 am till 8pm, you are very well served downtown. Do 3 girls for 60, 3 girls for 20, total of 240. Add another 100 for tips and drinks. The price of one girl in a termas.

Have dinner at 5 or pm, or take a sandwich home for later.

First I want to say that I am impressed with how little by little they are improving the infrastructure around the city. Good to see that at least some of the increased costs are going towards making things better. Love the workout stations along the beach; hope that they open up a "Muscle Beach" type of place somewhere in Copa or Ipa.

There is a free muscle beach in changing places. Lost track of it right now, after it left Ipanema. A real gym, sponsored by Amil health insurance. Other then that there are some exercise areas with cheap concrete weights, the best in Arpoador, at the very end, where the rocks are, in front of "Praia do diabo".

I don't waste my time with the low-end termas / bordellos. I'm rather picky and have enough trouble finding the type of woman that I like (skinny with a nice little butt) at the mid-range Termas. The only Termas I really consider high-range is Centaurus and they annoy me too much, plus the quality of gals aren't any better than at the mid-range places. As an aside I will admit that I've had good times there in the past but the last time I visited the place was perhaps two years ago. Anyway.

I also happened to pass by Lovely Rio massage and check out the talent. Only a couple of women there at 8PM on a Saturday night. But they were both attractive? How did this happen? Termas is a bath house. You missed the entire floor of showers and saunas. The girls have their own showers, too.

So sure it is nice to have a shower in the room, but everyone can and is supposed to get their showers.

Interestingly, there are lots of cheap places with showers in the room. 22 in Copacabana, some places downtown and in Tijuca for under R$ 80, .

Never been to Rio, but I've heard many stories. And to say the least, I'm trying to go as soon as I can. I have a few days off from work the weekend of Good Friday, so I figured that I would take a couple of extra days and it would give me 5 days in Rio. Only problem is that I'm not sure if this is a good time to visit Rio. Has anyone ever visited Rio during this time. If so, I would like some feedback. Will the party areas and termas be really slow around this time due to the holiday?

Bubba. I have the same problem with Sampa like you. I like the bundas and the "tone" of the skin, I like the bach and the termas, I like the good restaurants all in a relative closed space. I like the sight of the "beach-girls" with their "fios-de-dentes". Their friendlyness and their joy of life.

Sampa is simply too big, to spread out, you have to drive too long distances and the traffice is a chaos. The metro in Rio made it much easier to travel nowadays (remember 10 years back?). Anyhow, I have relatives in Sampa and when I am there, I have to pass by. They love it and they think it is the best town in Brasil.. Each to his own!

I do not like to overpay and the prices in Sampa for the same services as in Rio are at least 50 % higher. That is why many girls from Rio are travelling to Sampa for work. They simply get there more money. Also the industry is around Sampa, the salaries in Sampa are almost twice as high as they are in Rio. (living-expenses are also considerably higher)

That reminds me to the old saying here in Portugal: You work in Porto and you enjoy yourself in Lisbon. The same applies to Sampa and Rio.

I think the summary of our posts are that we have both found our niche to where we can get the services that we want in the respective cities. I personally have just never felt comfortable in Sampa, probably because I can't get into the "white euro" look that dominates in Sampa and the further south you get.

As far as your comments go as me being an "expert" on Rio. There probably is no such thing. I struggle from time to time like an amateur. This weekend was a real pain in the ass, It looks like I have lost my 2 best freebies on the same day. 1 was so crazy I just can't see her anymore. I had to go cold turkey on her or end up in a mental institution. The second one, who is super cool, no hassle, turns up on time to the minute, has just disappeared. Thanks for the kind words. I would like to add that there are very few members posting on the Brazil boards who serves as such a big inspiration as you. Your guide to Rio is unvaluable to a lot of people.

Secondly you certainly are right about the touristic aspects of the two cities. Rio must be one of the most beautiful cities in the world whereas Sampa probably must rank at the other end of the scale. Rio also has its beaches. Sampa can not compete when it comes to tourist activities although Sampa quickly is rising as one of the most interesting cities on the planet in terms of regular nightlife (restaurants, bars and nightclubs).

As for your opinions regarding service, I can see your point that my opinion about Sampa could be distorted by not sampling the less priced services as much. However the last few years I have spent more time with some Sampa locals I know who prefer the midpriced services better. At these trips there has always been a lot of girls (pros) just hanging out with us without any preasure to pay them anything unless of course I have decided to take them to bed. I think the Sampa girls are less used to non-Portuguese speaking men and are reserved towards these men because they are afraid og language problems. Their carioca sisters are much more used to tourists and because of that unafraid of language barrieres because they are used to handle that issue every day. I think that might be the reason why you have found the carioca garotas more open to just spending time with you.

Having said that your experience in these matters outgun mine by the size of John Holmes dick so I will also leave the door open for the fact that you simply might be right and I might be wrong concerning the service issue.

Got to spend a few days in Rio a little while ago, did a little reading on sites like this for education, and dove in.

Stayed in an apartment I found on line, and understand that I saved myself a lot of hassle in getting girls up to my room. Apartment was a dive though, and I was embarrassed bringing girls there, but they did not seem to mind at all.

Lesson learned.

Night 2 trolled Balcony again, but found a lovely young Amazonian. Talked and drank a bit, then we took off to Lapa for some clubs and dancing, finally got back to my apartment for 2ish. Lovely sex after, and then morning too. Gave ger R$400 for the night, she seemed happy with that.

Night 3 at Balcony's. I was getting bored of the place and same faces, and none of them were looking upscale, mostly trollers and fast deals. A big Hi to Genghis for venturing on the Rio board. Firstly just let me say how much I enjoyed your posts on São Paulo over the years. My 2 cents on this subject based on visiting São Paulo probably 20 times over the years and of course staying in Rio a number of years is as follows.

I think the biggest difference is the type of clubs, that is São Paulo has more boate type clubs, Barabarellas being Rio's poor equivalent. While Rio has more Termas. São Paulo also has more "Clinicas", while Rio has more "prives", this being the 1hr type deals.

The 2 cities differ enormously. São Paulo is a huge spread out city with not much for tourists to do. One could say it is an ugly city. Rio on the other hand has beautiful beaches, a stunningly dramatic backdrop of Granite peaks and lots of tourist things to do. As far as a tourist staying for a week, Rio really is the much better choice.

Variety of women. Totally agree with GK here. São Paulo has a more mixed bunch of GDP's. There are a lot more "white" skinned GDP's than your typical Rio Morena / Mulatta. If you like the "white euro" look São Paulo could be an option for you. If you like the Morena look probably best to stay in Rio.

Service. This is where I disagree with GK. Now for those of you who don't know GK's posts, he has no problem spending R$500+++ on a date. Some of the São Paulo club can be up to R$1000. Hence what GK thinks as a "normal" kind of service, ie dinner, all night Ultra GFE etc is probably not the norm. In my experience the service in São Paulo for a normal budget ie grabbing a girl from Kilt for the night, is about the same as Rio. What I rarely find in São Paulo is girls that come over after work to hang out for free. In Rio this is very very common and this is where you get the Ultra GFE, any girl that comes over for free will do anything and I do mean anything. As I said in Rio, the girls just like to party and gladly bug you to come over for free or go to some club afterwards.

Final summary: They say in Brazil São Paulo is where you go to work, Rio is where you go to have fun. For a first time visitor you would really want to start in Rio unless of course you have a business type reason to be in São Paulo. I will of course qualify my opinion, I never could really find what I was looking for in São Paulo because I like the mixed color way more than the predominant "white" look of Sampa.

Well, I think that depends on entirely what you are looking for.

Rio is a big tourist sex magnet. I think it is more catered to the guys looking for what I would call a porn star experience. Great looking girls, lower prices, magnificent performances but more by-the-hour non-GFE kind of service. Of course there are exceptions but the escort agencies and the termas which is what most Rio fans prefer provides this kind of service. Because Rio is more catered towards tourists there are also more girls speaking English and other non-Porto languages.

Sao Paulo certainly has a much wider selection of choices than Rio. There are no termas (maybe except one) but the boate (nightclub) scene is very good as opposed to similar boates in Rio like Barbarella. The girls in Sao Paulo are more of a mixed type than Rio with a lot more choices of looks and race to choose from. The girls here are just as great looking with the same magnificent performance but their looks are more mixed than the typical morena garota from Rio. On general Sao Paulo is more expensive but since the selection is so large there are also a lot to sample on the less expensive side. Basicly though my observation is that the girls in SP are more catered towards the GFE, all-night experience unless you call someone from a website or escort agency which is also by the hour.

So it all comes down to what you are looking for. Pornstar experience or girlfriend experience. As I said this is what I consider the general situation. There are of course a lot of exceptions. You also need to take into consideration the higher prices and wider selection in Sao Paulo and also the sheer size of the city. The trafic is crazy especially during rush hour. I would also like to add that I have not been to either SP nor Rio in a year but have traveled extensively to SP before that and a few times to Rio too.

PS! To avoid confusing here is my definition of girl friend esperience (GFE) and pornstar experience (PSE):
GFE - a longer date maybe including dinner where the girl puts more of herself into your time together which most of the time ends by the girl staying the night with sex without a lot of rules of what she will not do or allow you to do.
