It's called Dolce Vita's. The awesome DJ from Help (I forget his name now), some of the staff, and most of the quality Help girls took over the joint right after Help closed. I was there the whole month of Janeiro and Fevereiro and saw it all transpire before my eyes

The place is small, no doubt, and nothing gets started until midnight so don't even try to go earlier. But it's open 'til 4-5am so adjust your schedule accordingly! Once it kicks in it's like Help concentrated into 40 square meters. I love it, girls will grind and dance with you everywhere, there are naked strippers in cages, and a little roped in VIP section in the back if you want to get a table and chill out with friends. This past February, just before Carnaval, they had some outrageously beautiful Samba girls dancing some nights between 2-3am and the place went nuts. I love the fact the old DJ from help spins there because he really gets the girls going. And the ladies are TOP QUALITY (in my opinion, and I am picky). You'll see a lot of high-end Terma girls show up, as well as 'amateur' talent.

The next "super club" that is supposedly in the works is 'La Meridian' but I haven't heard anything new about it since my last trip. The good news is, I'm leaving in 5 days for Rio and spending the entire Winter (their Summer) this trip so I'll know first hand in a week or two where all the action is at. This will be my 5th trip in 2 years (2. 5 when I'm done). I've been to almost every Terma in Rio (my favorites are 4x4 and L'Uomo, hands down) but I prefer to pick up girls at the clubs and bring them back to my apartment for the night. And I've never, knock wood (pun intended), had a single problem at my apartment w/a girl. Wait, that's not true, Bianca tried to burn the place down my 2nd trip, but that's just Bianca. She's a lot of fun if you give her EXACTLY what she asks for. No negotiating. LOL. She's worth it though, at least once.

I was reading O Dia today and came across a very interesting article. Google today added the "street view" feature to some major Brasilian cities. Rio and Sao Paulo are there for sure. I read the article at work and had to test it immediately, I wanted to see the time period of the pics. I put the "yellow man" on Atlantica Ave right between MP and where Help was. I panned around and yes they show Help in the pics, so I know the pics are at least 2 years old, but for us mongers its now good to have a visual of what we are looking for. I am going to use this feature a lot in Centro and Sao Paulo, check it out on your Google Maps or Earth and Happy Mongering.

I second all your motions, that place was legendary! There have been talks of a replacement, but they are just talk. Add to that the current goverment does not look like they want that atmosphere on Copa or anywhere else again.

Do they have the highest percentage of white brazilian beauties here compared to other clubs. Are there any pictures of these girls anywhere on the net? On a seperate note are there are any discrimination on entrance to foreigners at centaurus as I am of middleeastern parents, but grew up in england? Finally regarding escort agencies can anyone give some names of agencies with the most beautiful brazilian girls especially brazilian white?

Centaurus management are strictly cold business when it comes to the tourist trade. I'm a Brit but speak Portuguese, they think I am Brazilian. I pay less for entrance and only pay when leaving. I have never understood why Gringos use this place when there are similar places that treat you with more respect and charge less.

Centaurus is my least favourite place in Rio, hence I am biased. It could be argued that the look that is dominant at Cent is that of white brazilian. They have less darker skinned girls than other places. Hence if you are into that it would be worth checking out. However it is the most expensive terma in Rio. There is no website with pictures of the girls that are up to date. Just go there. The last time I was there there was one hot chick, the rest were very ordinary, never seen it as bad, however that talent comes and goes.

Total without drinks is going to be R$450 minimum.

It is located in Ipanema ( rua canning rua = street) on the border with Copacabana. Google maps is great.

They descriminate against all foreigners, just not middle eastern dudes. In fact being of middle eastern appearance you will look more Brazilian than your average foreigner, hence this could be to your advantage. They descriminate by charging foreigners R$20 more than locals. They also try and charge you the full R$450 up front, but you can just pay the R$120, but need to ask. All the staff at the reception speak excellent Englsih, probably better English than mine. The guy that has been there forever also speaks Spanish and passable French & Italian

General cent info: The girls are very very aggressive as instructed by management, they will bug you like flys on shit.

Escort agencies are a lottery in any country.

Fortaleza has a nice troika of places where most of the action takes place - Forro Mambo, Cafe del Mar, Club Europa (with 11pm-1am pregame at Zipi Bar) - that, to me, was even better for "feel" than Help. So much so that I'm working Fortaleza back into my itinerary for a trip in Nov/Dec.

With Help closed, everyone is asking where the action is. But as many already know, there are dozens of little casas all over the place, often in those office buildings all through Copacabana.

Unfortunately, they can be hard to find, but often when walking on Atlantica you'll encounter a tout who will offer to show you the places. While I usually recommend avoiding touts, it may be worth it to throw some Reals his way, as he'll talk you to places you didn't know existed, and where the girls are WAAAAY cheaper than the old Help girls.

It sounds like we agree that it has not been heavy in Copacabana in the past. Of course there is a market, but mostly in Gloria from my experience. But maybe that is changing. Maybe they have overrun Balcony. I've gotta go check that out. That would be a sight to see.

Believe it or not but for the last two nights there appeared to be a tupperware party being held in MP!!!! Well not a party strictly speaking, they weren't selling the stuff but were having some sort of meeting.
There were more couples and families than garotas, even the street vendors appear to have disappeared.

I finally got by there last night to check out the scene. It seems to keep changing because when I got there around 10:30 at what should be the peak time, the place was jammed with mongers, but had a shortage of garotas. Usually there are crowds of them on the sidewalk, inside, outside, etc. I stayed for an hour or so and it didn't change much. So not just a lack of talent which has been bemoaned on this board, but just a shortage of females, period.

An old friend who is always offering me massages and more than willing to call in reinforcements was thumbing through her book and making calls, but not able to bring in more garotas. It was a strange scene. But, it is low season and I guess many are taking time off. I didn't see any of the storied TVs but she told me they had been coming, but later, after midnight or 1:00.

So, from what I saw, mongers would not be threatened by the 35% figure reported except perhaps later. Don't know about that first hand, past my bedtime. However, I think people would have been disappointed last night with the selection. I expect this will change when the weather gets better. I managed to find something for 200 without any bargaining so probably could have gotten it for 150. Didn't feel like making the effort.

Meanwhile, the selection in Centaurus remains astounding. Some of the most beautiful and nice girls, not just in Rio, but in the world, are there. There is just about every type you could want there. IMHO. This is the big leagues, and no doubt you will pay for it. Still 450 -- thank god they haven't gone up again. And as ET said there is a nice crop of fresh faces at Luomo, not to mention a lot of familiar ones.

I have to report a major disappointment at one of my centro favorites -- RB 156, 3320. I got there early one day last week and was only introduced to 3 garotas. I picked the first, Tailita (or something like that) because she smiled a lot, talked and had bright eyes. In the sack she turned into one of those control freaks. You know the kind, they would be doing it in body armor if they could get away with it. Always blocking you with arms and legs, constantly grabbing the condom to check that it is still on, etc. I really hate that. Somewhat less than giving herself with total abandon. So watch out for that one.

Best value all around recently was Toneleros 173. However, I went by early yesterday and that was a real disappointment. They say they are open 10-10, but at 3:00 there was only one garota, not to my liking. So, I guess the advice is to go after 5:00 and before 9:00. Even though open until 10, at 9 some were already taking off it they didn't have something going. Small place, but if you catch it at the right time, it is great.

I will be making my third trip to brasil in three years. Will arrive in Rio a day before u. Speaking porto is not needed to have a good time in brasil unless you are trying to pick up non-pros. However, I do advise you to learn simple greeting phrases and numbers.

I usually go solo but if you need someone to show you around the centro area of Rio I have no problem helping you out.

I myself is looking for a partner to go to VM with me. Ideally one who has been there and know the ropes. But if you are also interested in VM, maybe we can find someone willing to take us there.

Three days is not enough to experience what Rio has to offer but you will definitely get a taste of the good life. Don't waste your time in copacabana, instead, go straight for the casas and termas in centro (my recommendation: Av. Rio Branco 185/2114 and Termas 4x4 and Cancun).
