The World Cup is a joke. The officiating is criminal, the play is horrendous and the hype is unbearable. And FIFA is full of itself and won't change a thing. Those idiots love the controversy because it makes headlines. This is why the US has not embraced "soccer" as a major sport (which is actually an English term, not American).

Saw the match here in a cafe in Europe (not that I care a lot, just too much time on my hands this afternoon). What REALLY cracks me up is the unbelievable number of people (gringos and gringas) who fall for the "Brasilmania" BS (flagged teeshirts, girls with yellow and green nails, batucada drums, ect, ect). That's totally silly. And all this from people who probably never spent more than a few weeks in Rio or Salvador (for the minority that has actually travelled to Brasil). Really silly. Many gringos are often more into the pure folkloristic BS than - educated - brasilian people ; kind of reminds me the twirps that inevitably promotion and propone the so-called "brasilian culture" here.

1). I hope Kaka quit soccer and becomes a priest, because obviously he got serious mental problems in his head. And he can't play for his life.

2). For the last month, hundreds of Brazilians on the Globo wesbite have been warning that Felipe Melo (# 5) will score a goal against his team, then get expulsed from a game. That's what he always does in his Italian club. And guess what? Today, Felipe Melo scored a goal against his team, then get thrown out from the game. I couldn't stop laughing while watching the game.

I went to get a haircut today, and as I walk in the salon, two brothers ( I would estimate ages 8 - 10 yrs old ) were crying their heads off about the loss. For God's sake, it was an hour after the game.

I was pulling for Brasil, but two positives came out of this result.....1) I get to rag on my Brasilero amigos e amigas ( Pay back for the USA loss ), 2) I don't have to listen to those friggin horns any longer or listen to the artificial fireworks that are almost causing my ear's to ooze blood out.
