You would be surprised at how many sad individuals come down for a few weeks every year and start spouting of about the special relationship they have with such and such ******house. The way they talk you would think Phillipe was a saint and Sandra was mother Theresa rescuing these poor girls from a life of poverty. Pimping is against the law in Brazil.

I have seen some of those guys when I was going to termas more often. Those are the 2 week cowboys and life is the big party and everyone is their buddy. These are the lazy jokers that give gringos a bad name and make it more expensive for everyone. I am American and I am ashamed to say we have our share of those loud-mouthed jokers.

I think many of the guys on this forum have got it right. Handle everything as business, be on guard, be street smart, and don't let emotions get in involved in your dealings with the ladies. I see some post about their obsession over finding one lady they saw online or in a porno and I shake my head. Or flying in a "porn star" for 3 days. (I can tell you that there is no porn star that can do things any better than the lady I spent 2 full nights with in Centro last week for a total of R$250, 2 bottles of VS lotion, some beers and a cheap meal. Hell she even took me dancing and bought some beers and snacks.) My best experiences here have just occurred, some with pros that really are great people, and some with non-pros once I was able to communicate with them. If I was obsessing over chasing down a lady I would have missed these great experiences. I learned a great deal from the senior guys here and it helped me shape the basis of my thought processes here. So I don't think anyone here needs to be constantly reminded they are dealing with "hookers".

Like you, I live in Brazil (currently about half the year) and been developing businesses in partnerships here. Contrary to some, I have found the business environment very open. I guess I have been lucky in my partnership choices. I don't really monger much anymore as I have a regular lady in my town here. She and I have been exploring together. I am very lucky in that she brings a small group of her friends around often. I have set up a very nice comfortable home with many furnishings and touches from the states and we entertain. I cook often and they all love experiencing new dishes. This is my thing (along with my great music, DVD and video game collection.) And it works.

I live very inexpensively here (either though Brazil can be expensive). I bought my home almost 9 years ago. I go to the fresh outdoor farmers market every Wed and Sat morning and I spend about R$15 each time for fruits and veggies. I have a great butcher that slaughters his own livestock and I have a good (not great) fish monger. I take buses to most close locations and book my airfare (Azul, WebJet, Gol) weeks in advance to get great rates.

I just made a solo trip to Rio for the first time in a long time. And came back here to post a bit about that and then just read some to see what was going on.

Thanks for the feedback and invite. I do have to work all day Friday until evening visting clients and maybe close a deal. I did find a pdf map in this thread on action in copacabana, so I spend the late afternoon and evening walking around and trying to get some oriention in copa. I did discover that I am in the middle of it staying at avenida princes isabel. Needless to say everything was closed including the termas monte cristo.

I am arriving today in Rio coming from Sao Paulo. I had revieced some quick and nice information in the Sao Paulo thread on how to relax in the evenings after a hard day of work.

It is my first visit to Rio and I am staying until Sunday. I will be staying at the Merlin Hotel on Avenida Princesa Isabel.

I was looking for some action which does not kill my vallet as in Sao Paolo, the Clinicas where I was are not really cheaper then on mainland europe ;-)

If you are a 100% sure that your money was stolen at L'uomo. I would be more inclined to suspect one of the johns. The locks on the lockers are not very secure. I've been in that locker room many times and there's been no attendant.

It always amuses me when I see the regular "sex tourists" treating the termas management like long lost brothers. I think the *****house must play a big part in many of these guys lives.
