If you have something interesting to talk and enthuse about it makes you a better catch for the GDP. (How do you like it if her life consists solely of screwing people?? - exactly.) Prado has been talked about a lot recently. I did a bars guide about a year ago which hasn´t changed much (although Hta d.Prado and Estacio dos doces didn´t seem as busy as usual). I thought some people might like to try some stuff, even in the narrow confines of Prado. Here´s some starters

Padaria VIP Rio
Have a decent non-botequim lunch of lasagne for 3 or 4 reals.

Decios
Get a haircut, including fresh naked blade trimming of sides and eyebrows for R10

Copa Fish
Amaze your chica and demanding the biggest prawns ever seen. Take them home, cook them fast and serve with lime.

Copa Avico
Can´t resist roast chicken? Buy a whole one and take it home. R13

Ciclovia
Rent a bike and do the carioca thing along Atlantica or round Lagoa. 1hr R9, 3hrs R20, 12hrs R50, 24hrs R70.

Cervantes
Not forgetting the stand up bar where the rich and famous drive up for a ´filet complet´

Received a report that Balcony has made some space for a dance floor, and is overun by unattractive GDPs.

No, it´s still got the tiny square at the back that it has always had. There is a proper dance floor next door and upstairs in Dolce Vita, though not that big. It also has a show of sorts. Charging entry occasionally. The attractiveness/attractiveness of the GDPs is hit and miss. I only took one from Balcony this time (I´m now in Belem) but she was quite a player and I booked her twice again by phone.

agree with you. those who are comparing prices and looks of helpee girls wiht other venues are missing the point about why some mongers frequented helpee.

Wal-mart of Sex - good one. Sadly, that's actually pretty accurate. But I can say that I have dragged both the 'best' and the 'worst' I ever had in Rio out of HELP.

It's hard not to be a little nostalgic about the place.

Well I just returned from a great trip to Rio, so I don't know what everyone is complaining about. The thing with me is that I never went to HELP anyway, I speak passable Portuguese, and I would often spend around R$500 during a night on the town anyway. One night during this trip I managed to spend R$1,050 at T-65. Pricy? Yes, but I had a mighty good time.

Granted, a thousand Reais doesn't go as far as it used to but the quality in Brazil is still quite good and not hard to find. As stated by another poster, if a Termas lady likes you then there is a good chance she will offer to meet you before or after she gets off shift. I received several offers but I'm more of a short-time sort of guy.

I think the only folks noticing a huge difference are those that went to HELP practically every night. Now that the "Wal-Mart of Sex" is gone it will take a while for people to readjust to the new scene. But if everyone wants to believe that Rio is overpriced and not worth it anymore I'm not going to complain. It only means more garotas available to me when I return in May.

Time to shift my focus back to Europe for now; return to London & Berlin in a couple of months.

As I look at some of his videos I think to myself that I really will miss Help. I know a lot of you will disagree, but being on the tables on the stage with my friends with bottles of champagne and surrounded by beautiful women was like living the rockstar life but at a much more reasonable price. I still like the club scene and the music and it seems like that kind of thing is gone now. I agree the girls got lazy and much more expensive the last 2 years but it was still a lot of fun. Maybe it's time to move on, as much as brazilian women are by far my favorite....

Thanks to all the responses that I got from everyone. One last question. What is the current fees at 4x4 and Luomo? These are usually my 2 favorites. Fortunately it looks as though the dollar is finally back on the rise and I might see 2.00 to 1 by March 1st. I investigated Sao Paolo and that even looks more expensive then Rio. I thought of trying Rio for a few days then maybe doing Buenos Aires for the first time. I hear it's a pretty decent mongering scene. thanks again for the input...

Early December 2009 I remember paying 100 euros for a 40min session including entrance and a drink at 4x4. That was about 250-260 reais

No Termas at Buenos Ayres but many private brothels (privados) and boliches (bars) with ladies to take out.
