My questions for the board are, have you ever had to pay a girl for her time? I wonder what the police would have done when they arrived. Can they force a tourist to pay a working girl for her time? How in the hell would they calculate how much her time is worth?

Dude the other day my boy just told me a crazy story of something that happened to him back in the day. Some guy in Copacabana with dreadlocks befriended him. The guy owed like $7000 or he would lose his place. The guy hooked my boy up with two chicks. The chicks somehow got the cops to do a swat raid on the apartment he was staying in. They held him at gunpoint and ransacked the place looking for money. That time his place just happened to have a safe that was in the floor and he had some dirty clothes on top of it, so they never saw it.

After not finding money, they kidnapped him and took him to the station and demanded money. It just so happened to be exactly 2 times the amount that the dreadlock guy needed not to lose his place. He put 2 and 2 together. For some reason they let him keep his phone (Blackberry at the time) when they put him in the cell. He called the dreadlock guy telling him about what happened and the guy said just pay the ransom, my boy never telling him there was anything to pay. My boy bargained with the cops and told them he would give them the only money he had in his bank account which was $300. (he keeps a normal account and a travel account.) They took him to the ATM to get the money and they let him go. He said he hightailed it out of Brazil. Could not get any money back from the apartment because the door was busted down and the place was a mess. He went back to Brazil like 2 months later. I said shit all this time I thought those chicks were just making empty threats.

You were lucky. Getting a prepaid sim card in Rio seems to be a real pain these days. I spent hours yesterday in Riosul buying a sim card and having it registered. I was sent from Claro to Vivo and from Vivo to Tim. Nobody was prepared to help although the stores were almost empty. The staff was just sitting there on their hands looking bored. With much asking around in my very limited Portuguese, I finally found a store where they sold sim cards of Tim. But they told me that I should register myself by calling a number. I did so, but the menu was all in Portuguese. No press X for English. I went back to the Tim store but there they refused to help me and were quite rude about it as well. Service levels really have declined in Rio since my last visit 6 years ago. Back then, it was no problem at all to get a registered sim card. Finally, the people at my Airbnb were able to help me with the Portuguese menu and I got registered.

If you don't care about the carrier, I suggest next time just head to the Claro in the small shopping center just two blocks behind the JW Marriot (Nossa Sra. De Copacabana, 664 - loja 12). No problems whatsoever. You don't have to travel that far to be redirected to 6 lojas and be treated with terrible customer service.

Earlier today, I checked out some of the prives in Copacabana. I first went to Copa Massagem in the Rua Tonelero, only a few steps from the Siqueira Campos metro station. There were 5 girls available but I didn't like any of them. Prices quoted were are 100 Reais for 30 minutes and 150 Reais for 60 min.

Next stop was the well-known Eden Spa on the NS de Copacabana street. I had been there before, years ago. The house looked exactly the same as I remembered. There was a line-up of 11 or 12 girls, most of them doable. Prices quoted were 150 Reais for half an hour and 200 Reais for an hour. If you mean GIG airport, then yes there is wifi inside the airport. It will ask you to login with your Facebook or Twiiter account though. I bought a Claro SIM card from the store "Americanas Express". There are other places too. Once you install the SIM, you receive a message showing the phone number. Here is the interesting part. After purchasing the SIM, I went to the Claro store in Leblon Shopping Mall and asked to activate it. The store was very busy. The customer Rep. Wrote the phone on a sheet of paper and asked me to wait for few minutes. While waiting I saw him working on a computer and activated the SIM. He did not ask for ID, Passport or CPF. Whether this is a new policy or he was new and did not know enough, I do not know. He then asked me to go to a pharmacy which is across from the Claro Store to get an Internet package. I bought a 30 day, 12 GB data for 30 Real from the Raia Pharmacy. I also paid 10 Real for the SIM card. So for 40 Real and NO ID or CPF I got a local phone.

Ha! Always a good debate. I'd put Argentina behind Brasil, Venezuela, and Colombia. Unless Argentina has improved in the 15 years since my last (and only) visit.

Yes really. It's based on my experience from 2000's, I don't remember exactly. The way I do remember it, termas and bars were bursting at the seems with both men and women, FLs were asking ridiculous prices, but would go down a bit as the night progressed.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times, on the weekends they have a DJ on the roof bar, I've met working girls there. On Sunday afternoon the rooftop bar attracts locals and I've seen working girls there and I've brought my own. As far as price for the ocean front suite it varies from season to season so check hotels.com or Pestana website.

Are you asking if you bring a girl to the hotel can you take her to the pool yes? If you are asking if working girls are hanging out at the pool, I have not seen any. The price will depend on when you decide to book.

I am not trying to debate which one is better as I like both. I think Lima has far better seafood dishes, like sashimi, ceviche, and also chicharron. Lima has far better Chinese style dishes. I think Lima also has better cafe. Nothing in Sao Paulo I have tried that comes close to places like El Pan de la Chola but Sao Paulo is very good still and it has far more good cafes than I know in Lima.

Last time I was in SP only Claro would sell to me without CPfuckingF. My language skills still arent good enough to feel confident without immediate internet access.

And does anyone recommend any new Termas?

You can get SIM card in front of Uruguaiana station of Centro station from TIM girl like in the picture, Centro station probably is easier. Technically you can get SIM card anywhere in SP without any documents but you need document to register it. You can register TIM SIM by phone with only your passport. Just wait to the end and you will get an option for English language

Last time I was in Rio, I went to a new terma around the corner of 116, you won't miss it if you know where 116 is. But this is not a recommendation.
