Here is my experience in Rio de Janeiro. The stories from other members of the ISG helped me a lot of finding my way and not wasting whole lot time finding the garotas.

I took the trip from December 10, 2008 to Rio de Janeiro on my way to Campo Grande, MS, Brazil then coming back to US. I found the $698 round trip fare from cheaptickets.com from JFK New York to Washington, DC then to Rio de Janeiro. I left Rio on December 15 on my way to Campo Grande. On December 31, 2008 I left Campo Grande and returned to New York on next day.

On December 10, I lost the 11pm flight from the Washington, DC to Rio due to the delay of the incoming flight from JFK. So I had to wait another day and arrived next morning at International Airport in Rio on Friday, December 12, 2008.

Clearing for immigration and custom was a breeze as I only had carried on luggage. Instead of taking taxi, I ventured into taking Real Bus into Copacabana. The trip cost me 7 Real (about 2 dollars) and the bus dropped me off in front of Rio Othon Palace Hotel. I checked in as two guests. I told the hotel receptionist I will provide the name of other guest later on. The room price was $145 per night. I was booked on 24th floor overlooking Sugar Loaf and Copacabana beach. It was a paradise and I was ready for action.

About 4pm, I walked over the City Bank ATM on Ave. Copacabana and drew some cash out. Somehow it was the only bank that accepted by BofA card. After that I walked over to L’uomo MP on Siqueira Campos street. I didn’t know exactly where it was so I asked for the direction. Many Brazilians did not know where it was and one guy told me to go up the stairs on blue fenced gate about a block away. I found the gate and went upstairs and the guy at the reception desk gave me the locker key and a towel. The atmosphere was funny. So I asked the clerk that before changing clothes I wanted to check out the place. He said fine so I went into the club and saw loads of naked men wrapped around with towel in their waist but did not see a single female. I said "where’s the girls? " and the clerk told me that it was a gay club and L’uomo is on the second floor crossed the street. I ran like a hell out of this place.

I went into the building crossed the street and found the escalator to second floor. A woman at the L’uomo reception told me the entrance fee and one hour session were 60 and 260 Reals respectively. I took the key and changed into bath robe at the locker and went for action. There were about 15 garotas at the lounge and about 5 guys. I ordered a shot of Jack Daniel and Coke. A hot garota (8) came over and started chit chat. She was 23 but I don’t remember her name. My little Portuguese skill helped in conversation. start worrying about the weather only. It was bloody raining almost every day during last November that I was there.

This is the main upgrade I've made to my plans recently. Rain in Rio can be anything from inconvenient to a bloody pain.

2 main areas for me:

1) Transport.
Have had this one figured for a while now, since a time when I bought expensive concert tickets and wound up with not a hope in hell of using them. When it rains in Rio, the city slips from it's '3rd world pretending to be a 1st world' kinda fast - like a water-slide ending up in a six inch flood. The one stopping you from even crossing the road to the supermarket. Traffic on major routes has the function of keeping you less wet rather than getting you any place at all. Everything's gridlocked.

Ways round this are:
i) for pussy and most everything else, get home deliveries. I try to have the phone numbers of some local good-value girls I've seen once already, that live walking distance, will make staying indoors a joy, and won't charge the earth. If she's travelling by any means other than Metro or on foot, bear in mind the weather can occasion up to several hours delay. If you don't know how to order pizza, ask her when she arrives.
ii) for planning purposes, have fall-back options in your diary in case the weather hits bad. If you have to travel to a venue at a certain time, get there very early and go for a meal or something while you wait. Because of Rio's almost inbuilt unreliability, I tend to have at least one or two fallback options for every day. This is also important if you've arranged to meet a buddy in a different area - things won't always go to plan.

2) Clothing
This is a biggie for me. I like to have the freedom to get around. Rio cannot afaik sell you trainers that are lightweight, waterproof and won't make your feet hot. The mucky option says wear havaianas and let the mud wash off the way it washed on, but I don't always wanna do that. Likewise light, packable waterproof jacket and trousers that don't look totally geekish. You can now get all of these items from a good technical-clothing store, the sort of places that cater to adventurers and serious outdoor sport enthusiasts. I tried my latest outfit in monsoon conditions in Asia and was pretty comfy while everyone else did their drowned hamster impressions.

Good luck. There's more to Rio than good weather (but grab the beach sun days when they come!!)

I had heard L'uomo was supposed to be catering more to the Brazilians and I did see more for awhile, but now it is mostly tourists and the music reflects that. MC felt like I had walked into an upscale Brazilian termas, without the Centaurus attitude and without the frat party atmosphere of 4x4 (though there was one Brazilian guy sporting the towel around the waist, bare chest look).

If anything, there were too many girls. For my part, if they got rid of the girls with the really huge butts (sorry if that is your type), the place would be perfect. The recepionists are nice, the change room woman (Nina, I believe) is sweet and the shower room facilities exceptional.

Unlike in times past where I almost had the feeling that I am in a Rio termas and must go with someone, there were a lot of very good options.

When I was at Monte Carlo in December, it was better than my trip in March. As you described those girls were of great quality in looks. After my session, I stayed to closing and was the only guy. There girls, about 15, were all either 10s or close. Outside of Ingrid, Luomo was no where close.

In copacabana today and did the MC thing and it was great, yeah about 50-60 nice looking chicas, all shapes sizes and hues. Something for everyone. And believe me prices were much better than Southern Brazil!

Thought I would give L'uomo another chance tonight. Again about 12 guys and only 20 girls. Good news was Ingrid is back and looking as fine as ever. Bad news is, she was pretty much it.

They must have made some kind of off season trade with MC, because when I arrived there I could not believe my eyes. In November/December I did not even bother with the place, now it is the place to be. There were 50-60 girls working and yes, some of the girls with huge butts remain, but there are a number of very fine new girls working. Extremely impressive was the variety.
