I think it's okay if young guys go to a club or flirt with retail workers. But again, don't be a jerk and think every Brasileira is craving your first world awesomeness. Try to be subtle. They will appreciate some subtlety. Like every place in the world, if they are okay with your advances they will smile and send obvious cues. If not, move on.

Awhile back, wasn't there a member here who got kicked out of a mall for chatting up countless women? If the member is here still, I'm not trying to be a jerk. It's just an reminder to not be uncouth in the pursuit of Brazilian women.

By the way has anyone ever gotten the presidential suite in Panda Motel? My god! I had my own swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, small gym, cinema sized screen! It was amazing.

Well, being this out-of-shape gringo, I don't think it's insulting to them as much as it's laughable. I'm pretty sure these fit Brazilian dudes are having a good laugh at our expense.

Anyway, I took a top suite at Bambina also in Botafogo, Cubertura something. It's a duplex suite, very smartly designed, but no gym or screen AFAIK. Now that I think of it, it would be fun working out with your girl on that treadmill (don't know about safety issue), LOL. It was slightly less pricey than Panda, but 3 hours instead of 6. Better take 6, trust me.

These suites are a lot of fun, but I couldn't help but think how often they clean that pool and hot tub. And how many naked asses have graced all those seating surfaces before me. LOL.

It has been about 8 years since I was last in Rio for some fun. Decided it might be time to relive some old times. Back then Help disco and the surrounding bars was where I use to spend my evenings. Definitely a target rich environment. Sorry to hear that Help has closed. Is there any bars or areas that has taken its place? It seems like most of the discussion on here deals with the Termas. Never tried them but don't think they're my thing. Kinda prefer the slower pace of a bar to evaluate prospects.

I also remember in Ipanema a bar called Emporio that was good for non-pros and semi-pros. Is it still there? Garota de Ipanema was always my favorite restaurant. I'm just wondering how much has changed. Is there still the ability to relax on the beach during the day and then hit a bar in Ipanema for semi-pro talent or hit somewhere else for a drink and evaluate what you want to take back to the hotel? 200,000 use to be the going rate for short time. Seems like it's gone up a bit.

I have been traveling to Brasil for 26 years and have lived there for years. The truth is experiences with civilians can be different for each individual. It's not cookie cutter, it varies for each man seeking a non-working girl.

I have seen countless guys strike out trying to pull civilians either because they don't have the language skills or they think all brasilians are sex craved vixens who desire gringos. I have had tremendous luck with the civilians because I speak the language, I have family that live in Rio and my company has a huge office in SP. I am blessed to be introduce to women by friends and family and I have a great reason why I visit the country so frequently. Not all men are as fortunate..

Why do you guys think that? I have been coming to Copacabana and meeting normal chicks and their families for over 20 years. Same thing with Sosua. Mongers say you can not let people know you are going there. I have stayed there plenty of times and had normal chicks come from other cities to stay with me there. Nobody is paranoid about this except mongers that see themselves as doing something wrong or think that other people suspect them of being up to debauchery.

While I would say Rio doesn't have the same reputation as Thailand, I think most mongers would do well with some discretion. If you go to Rio once, perhaps you can tell all your family, friends and colleagues. If you are going a second, a third or a fourth time, keep it under your hat as they say in English.

Mr. E if you are a Continental European, there is less sensitivity to the world's oldest profession within Europe. In North American, there is certainly a strong stigma attached to mongering except in certain small groups of like-minded gentlemen.

I would not recommend Brazil for a pursuit of strictly non-pros especially with limited language skills. I became chummy with a crew of cool American twentysomethings in my hotel on a Rio trip. They were committed to the pursuit of non-pros. By day two or three with the abundance of pay for play options, they were like "I'm done trying to pick-up girls. I'm going to throw down some cash and get laid."

Most guys, especially Americans have a hard time understanding that the average civilian does not view you as the "Golden Ring". In fact, there is a stigma attached to dating gringos because the family / friends want to hear a good reason why you are in brasil. IE (You are working or have family). If a single man says he is vacationing in Rio de Janeiro and is staying in Copa, no way in hell she can she present you to her parents.

Ah okay, but some places it is easier to make that first move. Is Brazil pretty chill like that?

It's very easy to make the first move in Brazil, but without Portuguese you are likely going to have a more difficult time. I don't think anyone should get the impression that civilian girls in Brazil are all looking to jump into bed with foreign men. From my experience, Brazil is not as easy as Southeast Asia for making civilian connections.

There are a lot of obvious factors that will impact the probability of success. How young, how attractive and how much game you have will all be factors. Also, the longer you are in Brazil the easier it will be to make civilian connections. From my experience I saw in rio Brazil is very chill especially on the beaches of ipanema and copacabana.

Girls are very keen on partying and having a good time.

Very friendly and if you got a decent knowledge of porto it can help a long way.

Everyone in rio just seem to want to have a good time.

It's very bohemian that way.
