Based on advice on here I've decided to stay in Cococabana but my best off staying close to the beach or is there a better area? I plan on spending quite a bit of time on the beach so what do I do with my stuff when I'm by myself and In the water so it doesn't get stolen any suggestions? In other countries I just left my belongings unattended and never had an issue however I have read on here that there's a high chance my stuff could be stolen doing that.

Also is there a map that somebody can link to you with all the different mongering locations around Rio? Thanks!

Like Mr. E implies don't bring any stuff with you but your money and key. If you do leave any stuff unattended and go swimming yes there is a good chance they will run off with it. Sometimes people ask me to watch their stuff and I say sure or you can go ask the guy who rented you the chairs to keep it secure in his stand the barraca.

What stuff do you plan on bringing to the beach with you? I have never heard of anyone stealing things off the sand near the water. The stealing usually occurs on the sidewalk between the beach and the street. I have a zip up pocket on my swim trunks so I can keep the room key and money in that and leave my shirt on top of my shoes on the sand. If I am renting a chair and umbrella and have my bag with me, my bag has a clip that I rig to the chair or underside of the umbrella.

Got to VM about 9:30 PM. Dead. Counted 30 girls in the whole horseshoe part of VM. Some clubs closed, some no girls, max three girls in any club. Maybe 15 girls in the clubs across the street. Never seen it so dead.

Average prive quality girls. Two peeled off but never made any effort to engage with me, although no great loss since they were so-so at best. Hung around an hour hoping it would improve but it actually got worse as the girls went to do programas and no new girls showed up. When I left there were three girls and maybe 6 guys.

Conclusion: I either have the knack for finding the worst days to go clubbing or the scene is really as bad as it seems. Maybe the only good nights are Friday and Saturday. May check it out again then but no reason to go again before then.

116 Rua de Conceicao: No entry fee. Too loud and too dark. Maybe 8-9 women, a little more men. To the extent I could see the women in the dark, none looked fuckable, so I left.

114 Rua de Conceicao: 10 Real entry (don't know if consumable). Could see from reception desk that it was empty, so left without going in.

31 Rua Alcantara Machado: 15 Real entry (consumable). Asked how many girls present. Was told three. Left without entering.

210 Uruguaiana: No entry fee. Enough light to see the women. Maybe 8-10 there, double that in men. Nobody fuckable so left.

119 Rua de Alfandega: No entry fee. No women, no customers. Completely empty. Left.

Club 502 (65 Rua de Alfandega): 10 Real entry (not consumable). Asked doorman how many women present. Was told 8. Equal number of customers. No one fuckable. Left.

Whiskeria 65 (65 Rua do Rosario): Entry now 70 Real (consumable. Caipirinhas and beers 20 Real). One hour now 325 Real. Monday two-girl special for 525 (545?) Real. Robe optional. Very dark and deafening music. Almost impossible to hear anyone. Maybe 20 women, lots of horse asses. Two women with nice faces but no tits or ass: a brunette who was guzzling down some old guy's vodka and spent the whole time I was there with him, and a tall tanned white girl with blonde dreadlocks, who was usually being felt up by a guy in a robe. Two other OK looking girls but not any better than prive girls at less than half the price. Tried to get some relief from the deafening noise so went to the other salon but it was closed: apparently there are not enough customers on Mondays so they shut the quiet lounge. Was feeling pretty buzzed after 3 caipirinhas and didn't want to probably waste another 50 Real entry so didn't try 4 x4, since I will be going there Wednesday.

I was at 4 X4 on Monday and it looks like they are attempting to change their entry fee policy. In the past, if you took a girl before 6 PM, the entry fee was waived. It seems like that will not be the case any longer. They placed tape over the bottom of the price listing sheet explaining entry fee waiver.

When I went to pay my bill on Monday, I saw the entry fee and asked why it was included when I took a girl at 5:30 PM. The clerk yelled out the manager that she was giving me the promotion discount and then took it off my bill. Quietly, she whispered to me that they are trying to do away with that waiver because business is so slow.
