Regarding overpaying, as below, my view is it is up to the individual and don't think it drives up prices per se. Best that people post what they really pay. Try to take apartment which is in building without reception and problem solved.

I also found that being reasonably straightforward works better for me. And sure thing, sometimes there is a firm no, but more often I get a consent.
