I'm new to the forum and have been reading it for the past few weeks. I'm planning a trip next year to Rio but can't decide whether or not I should stay in Copa or Barra. This would be my second trip to Rio. It's been about 10 years since I've gone so a lot has changed I'm sure.

What is the attraction of staying at the Transamerica hotel? Are there girls lined up at the pool and in the elevator willing to give out their numbers and hookup with hotel guests? Vagabundo1 makes it sound like some kind of Shangri-La, yet he's busing girls from some place 3 hours away back to Barra? And to all the other recent new travelers to Rio, how has your experience been at Transamerica? You're staying there but taking an Uber all the way to Copa and back all the time? Is there no fresh local talent in Barra?

You should read all of vagabundos posts to understand his situation and reasoning behind living in Transamerica but importing from elsewhere. First of all I want to thank vagabundo for the wealth of information shared, it has been extremely helpful.

I am not disagreeing with him but want to provide a contrast to his approach, as it is not for everyone and for example wouldn't be 100% my cup of tea.

The reason Transamerica is good is you have zero issue taking girls to your room. Reason number two is that there is an insane amount of working girls living in that building. So you can just run into them and ask for numbers. The reason Vagabundo decides to bus in girls from other locations I believe is because he is staying in Brazil for months and is able to agree super cheap rates for 2-3 days at a time with a girl. Don't want to put words in his mouth but I am doubtful some of the more high end girls that charge 400-500 per hour and post on barravips would be open to such an agreement. Still the option is there.

Now for the reason to actually stay at barra de Tijuca vs Rio / Copa. From my experience being here for a week and having been here once before in the last 12 months is that all the hottest girls live in barra so you are actually closer to them (either for them coming to you or you coming to them).

I am in Rio for 1-2 months and prefer seeing a high end girl for 2-3 hours every other day over marathon 3 day sessions. That also leads me to be picky. I am currently staying in copa and using photo acompañantes has been a complete fail. It's basically just catfish / bait and switch even if you search for more expensive options. If you go on the more trustworthy sites like riovips, barravips, private55 - all of the girls located in copa / centro hide their face and there aren't a lot of options. All the hotties that also provide face pics and videos live in barra. I will be splitting my time living in both copa and barra and I thought it wouldn't be worth it picking up girls from barra while in copa as I will be in Rio eventually anyway. However the fails with photoacomponhantes I decided to go to solarium (have read that centaurus has recently changed to worse but can not confirm). When I was at solarium, price for one hour was 795, there were about 7-9 girls. No stunners, some cuties. Considering how high the price is this is a disappointment, but having been empty handed for several days I decided to take the plunge anyway and chose a girl of my preference. The rooms there are tiny, so not all positions are comfortable to do. Girl was very hard working and did a good job so at least there it's top notch service. Got her number but didn't follow up.

To also comment on Michaels comment about him not being able to source on Sunday, I do believe that the girls are lazy and they are more reluctant to travel from barra to copa for a one hour session. I was able to get a girl for 2 hours yesterday from barra however, 400 per hour and absolute stunner that also performed excellently, didn't negotiate it but she also let me film everything, with her face included in the vid.

So there is your reason for staying in barra, you're closer to the best girls in the region. Reason for Transamerica is you're surrounded by them and you have no issue taking girls back.

Now for me personally there are negatives to Transamerica that make me reluctant to stay there. First of all, again, you're surrounded by working girls and not all of them high end. I don't think it's a safety concern but I'm just not a fan of sharing walls with 100's or working girls as I sleep. During my previous trip I visited a girl there and they rent two adjacent apartments, one for living, another for banging. As I knocked on the door she came from the other apartment and her roommate was crying. My girl and I go to the room to do the session and at the end she tells me her friend gets beaten by her BF and asked me if I can help. No fucking way am I getting into some family drama in Rio even if it is a tragic set of events. Reason I mention this story is again in this building you have the boyfriends and pimps of these chicks. I would prefer to be in and out of such a building and not stay there for a long time, but I'm not knocking anyone who thinks otherwise. The rooms are also not the best quality but to offset this they are super cheap. It all depends if you want cheap and convenient or more high end with a bit more risk of locating a building that will allow you to let in girls. I didn't have issues with this in copa so far.

I hope this is helpful, trying to give back for all the useful info I read on here. My plan now is to only focus on chicks living in barra as they are the hottest and also independent and more free with their schedule (my experience is if you click they don't keep track of time and just overall provide GFE).

Anyone know where to buy the huge condom packs? I went to a normal pharmacy and they sell 4 packs, and pretty expensive too. Would like to buy a bulk pack. Thanks.

WhatsApp calls are free and can be done via Wi-Fi and with a cellular data / internet plan. So, when you get any SIM card ensure you have Voice / text / data plan included so you can use WhatsApp or any social media app when out of range of Wi-Fi.

Went to the Rio Sul today (doesn't open until 3 on Sunday for reference). My Portuguese isn't good but generally I can understand enough to get by so I can't say for sure if I misunderstood something. Started at Vivo store on 1st floor told to go to store on 4th floor. 4th floor store couldn't help, but not sure why and he directed me to another store outside the mall I believe. Tried Claro on 4, told to go to 3. At store on 3, store on 3 from what I understood could do it but they had no sim cards (I think this was maybe the problem at vivo on 4). She pointed me to Tim and I finally succeeded. It took the guy a long time but he worked really hard and was apologetic for it taking so long. I think I got 4 gb and 50 min for be $45.

Sundays in general are slow retail days. Acquiring a Sim Card at Rio Sul Mall one can (as reported) be successful. I do not try to speak Portuguese; I just ask who speaks English (always at least one rep will) and someone helps me. Like I said before they engage tourist all the time.

I am not 100% sure but I do think there is a difference in SIM cards for Brazilians since they must produce CPF# versus SIM cards for Tourist who need to just show Passports.

This may be why you experienced.

In GRU, there is a pharmacy in the domestic terminal that sells TIM SIM cards.

First timer on the ground reporting. Got into Rio yesterday and staying at the Marriott in copa, no problem bringing girls, least not the first one I had today they even called up to tell me she was here. I was exhausted from travel so didn't venture far and started at Monte Carlo. Reminds me a lot of a Macau sauna but not as luxurious. Got up to the lounge level and was seriously concerned about the selection, only 3 girls and none of which were interesting. 3 other guys (around 6 pm) and they didn't seem interested either. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile because of problems while international. Verizon would have terrible service even in places like Paris and Rome.

So it was yesterday, Friday I guess.

She fucked up cooking -- distracted by facebook, and taking her own picture and posting it etc, etc (see the social dilemma).

How often over a lifetime have we encountered someone who said you can't do that. Most of the time they should have said, I didn't know you could do that.

We need to separate this forum into those who speak Portuguese and know how things really work and those who don't and have years of the same one week Rio visiting experience.

If you are only going to be in Rio a week, what matters most is getting as quickly and effortlessly to why you are there in the first place. (Hint, it is not spending a day getting a SIM card).

Sperto is correct. It is just his advice does not apply to 99% of the forum members because you will encounter an employee who says you cannot do that. You don't speak Portuguese and can't argue so follow the path of least resistance.
