Yeah I was about to say. You won't be the only one wearing a mask. I'll be taking precautions as well.

During my recent trip down there, I noticed that in general the mask compliance rate was 50/50. It was a lot better in Copa than say Centro, where you wouldn't even know there was such thing as a pandemic. You can forget seeing any one with a mask at the termas, bars, prives etc. The few places I visited, I was the only one wearing a mask and if the place was crowded like those trash termas and such, I just immediately left. When it came to the garotas at any of the places I visited, like Duda's, Eden, MC, 502 etc, it was business as usual (No fist or elbow bumps, LOL).

I kept this trip very short and tried to limit my activities, but still could not resist. But definitely stayed away from any place that was crowded with a bunch of people without masks. Places like MC and 502 had very low volume of people inside, which was why I ended up staying at those spots. I wanted to peep out 65 and Cancun to see how they looked since 4 x4 was still closed, but I didn't want to get changed into a robe and all that, just to discover that the place was packed with the non mask wearing crowd that was typical in Centro and pay the entrada just to leave after arriving.

If you're still wary about being exposed to possible COVID-19, Rio may not be a good option right now. The exchange rate is the best I've ever seen and might consider another trip in a few months if the price of the flights are still low. In the meantime, I need to get another test done soon to make sure I'm good.

ET, I've got your point, but not everyone can present themselves like a hedge fund manager. I for one wouldn't want to stress every time I walk in my hotel door whether they're kicking us out or not. So if bringing girls was important to me (it isn't) I would want to know for sure that my hotel or apartment rental wouldn't give me a hard time. But that's just me. Other folks might enjoy the "adrenalin rush" not knowing, yet others enjoy that no hotel clerk would dare say no to them.

As to Japan, I know exactly what he meant. I once found an ad for a place in Tokyo and wanted to check it out, but my local buddy said he couldn't take me since it was for Japanese only. When I researched further I found that yes, it is a thing for many clubs all over Japan, not just in Tokyo.

I recently stayed at the Hilton in Leme and asked about their guest policy. I was told that since I registered for 2, I could register a guest with ID etc, and that would be the only best allowed during my stay. She said that this was due to new COVID protocols. Since it was a very short stay and I generally don't have "guest" anyways, it didn't affect me much.

Never a problem at the Hilton or Marriott. Drunk, which I have mentioned many times never to be, is the issue, not the girls. Have brought girls to both locations without issue. Have no idea what you are talking about with reference to Japan. Girls galore everywhere. Hop a train, get off at a stop and there they are. BTW, women, especially the non-pros, like men who can perform without artificial stimulants. Drunks can't. They just behave like jerks.

Good to hear, I do plan on trying some of the agencies, from previous posts it sounds like girls from barravip and riosexsite will probably be presentable enough to not cause issues. Might end up splitting time between those two and a rental for future reference.

I would plan on checking out the major termas Solarium, 65, Monte Carlo and perhaps Centaurus. Poke your head into prives as well. You get to check out the girls first and if the girl is working in a termas or a prive you can be reasonably assured she will deliver.

Ipanema is fine. The Eastern half of Ipanema is a very short walk to the heart of Copa. As always, the trick is to find a hotel or rental where bringing back guests is not an issue. There's the rub. Ipanema doesn't have as many hotels and probably less rentals available. It is more affluent and more residential than Copacabana. It does have its share of nice bars and restaurants though.

First-time mongers to Rio should probably focus on Copacabana. You can always go to Ipanema Beach and have a drink in Ipanema.

Accessibility: I'm Asian and will probably stick out like a sore thumb in Brazil. I assume big cities and Rio and SA should be easily accessible but wondering if hobbying will be difficult, like in other places such as Japan and Korea, where either being a native, or being fluent in the language is a prereq to getting into some establishments.

Timing: Currently planning on around New Years, or just after New Years. I'm assuming Christmas will be a bad time given the country's religion, but would New Years or after New Years be a bad time as well?

I don't know if you know, but there was some sizable Japanese migration to Brazil before WW2. You won't stick out as much as you think. Lima, Peru, while not as crazy of mongering destination as Brazil, also has much Japanese influence. (Lima has great Japanese and fusion restaurants.).

Hotel and AirBnB rates generally spike over New Years (called areéveillon in Rio). Not all the girls will be back and working after Christmas, but there should be enough talent in the city. Unless you were intrigued by being in Rio for the NYE celebration, your best bet is after the NYE holiday. While Rio is going to try to have a celebration, it appears it will be dampened down some from previous years.

A lot of joints in Japan will turn you away if you're a foreigner even if you speak Japanese, and those who don't usually charge a massive foreigner tax. This isn't limited to just hobbying either. Same with Korea and China. I've been turned away even when with native friends.

Further to the thoughts below.

1. Wearing a mask in a prive also defeats their facial recognition; you are being filmed; you are the customer, like a fb member logging into fb (watching the excellent social dilemma on netflix).

2. Nota bene: (If you want to find down to fuck brazilian women, or women anywhere in the world, join a fb group with your favorite GDP (garota do programa, not gross domestic product) under the heading, "Smoke Buddies" -- there must be dozens. That is a great correlation with girls who will bang. It helps too to provide ganga, which you can pick up at VM (just ask your girl) or any boate probably. Just don't have any more than a small amount (100-200 r) so you are not a trafficker. I stayed at Hilton and visited buddy at JW. Both are upscale places, so bringing talent will be difficult. Some folks on this board have managed, but my friend and his girl got kicked out at Hilton, although, to be fair, he was drunk like fuck. If you're not planning on bringing girls, then both hotels are perfectly fine, although Marriott's location is better IMHO. Also all Hilton rooms are oceanfront, and if you're gold or diamond, you'll enjoy free breakfast and happy hour.

And no, hobbying will not be difficult for you. Rio is a cosmopolitan city, and girls will be happy to take your money. It's nothing like Japan.

I think you're talking about 2 different Sheraton hotels, there's one in Barra de Tijuca which I believe you are referring to and there's one in Leblon where there is no tunnel around.

I was probably thinking about my trip to Barra Shopping where it took us forever to get through the tunnel. Loved the hotel, BTW. Did NOT like the commute.

Considering a trip to Brazil this year since it doesn't look like Thailand will be open anytime soon. Have been doing research and am looking for some advice.

Hotels: This will be my first time in Brazil (SA in fact). I know zero Portuguese, will be learning some basics but I figured a hotel would save me some headache compared to a rental. Based on recent reports I've got Porto Bay, Hilton, and Marriott on the list while Windsor group is out. Pestana seems to be another commonly recommended choice but I'm not a huge fan of the reviews and would prefer a better maintained place. I would also get some perks with the bigger chains. Wanted to see if any members have additional suggestions to widen the pool a bit.

Are people wearing their masks in Rio? Inside of the termas or Dolce Vita? I plan on wearing mine while I am there but I wonder if I will stand out like a sore thumb in the night clubs in Lapa and the termas.
