The thesis is there will be some volatility during the US elections, followed in the short term by weakening of the USD. When vaccines become widely available and normalcy comes back expect the real to weaken. As for inflation in the country it acts as a tax on middle class. Lower real is good for the exporting country to meet its budget demands as always. The only way forward is to support the rich and then convince them to share their wealth one way or another, and only in this particular order. The alternative is a socialist chaos, which by the way is not good for this p4 p hobby.

This post will not be as informative, centaurus brought an interesting turn of events. Chose a spinner at the end of the session she asked for my whatsapp, ended up hooking up all day Sunday and Monday. Went to christ the redeemer. No lines no waits which was great. What's up fellas. Arrived Sat afternoon around 11 am. Arrived to Pestana. Booked the ocean front room that at Riobob suggested. And the view is definitely worth it.

Saturday after exchanging money. Hitting the pharmacy for Xans and viagra hit some beach bars until 5 pm.

1st stop. Monte carlo. TD with sexy 27 yo Laura.

Then headed to a 3rd room in that building forgot name. But about 6 girls. I passed, but buddy scored a hot lady. I used whatsapp and hooked up with another barravip lady.

5 pm took uber to centro. Went to terma 65 nothing in there we liked, went to terma New York. Again nothing. Then went to terma aquaris? But didn't exist.

So now it's 7 pm in uber heading to Centaurus.

Learning a lot. Still wish I knew more info on prives and office buildings.

But 2 full days in and having a blast!

We periodically have these F / X (economic) discussions. There are some generalizations one can make, but they won't help you much trading (or accumulating) Reais. A vaccine announcement should make the Real stronger. Are we going to 6:1 before 5:1? Who knows?

As was mentioned, because of higher inflation the currency tends to weaken vis-a-vis the Dollar and Euro over the long-run. That doesn't help a foreigner planning to buy Brazilian real estate or any other investment. The price for such investment will likely be higher down the road.

I'm not a financial guru but will chime in. Bolsonaro's purpose as leader of Brazil is for the rich (himself included) to get richer. Even though the Brazilian economy is headed downhill the rich are getting even wealthier. The people who stay at upscale hotels and who buy the things that tourists will buy are the Brazilians of means. The middle class and poor Brazilians do not consume the things that American tourists partake of.

Sounds just like the USA! A faltering economy has been propped up by government intervention. Meanwhile, the rich get richer. Eventually the government support will end, and then there will be hell to pay. Protect your investments! Because we will at some point go from the CARES Act to who cares? And then you're screwed!

The BRL will continue to weaken as the years go on for the foreseeable future. The country is extremely corrupt, and the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer.

I was in Brazil when the BRL to USD was 2 to 1, and I still thought Brazil was expensive.

I lived there when it was 4 to 1, and I still thought Brazil was expensive.

Today, even though the exchange rate is almost 6 to 1, the country is still expensive. Inflation over the last 2 decades makes it harder for Brazilians to have a decent quality of life.

Oddly enough, I do a search for hotels in So Paulo (the higher end ones) and they are super expensive in USD terms.

If we have some finance gurus or economists here, please chime in and help me understand what I'm missing.

Just wanted to give some updates. Staying at Pestana, ok so far have not brought girl back yet (2nd day). Went to Monte Carlo first due to location. Decent lineup. All in was 650 reais. 1 hour in suite drink for me and drink for lady. Went to Marrakesh club, no Bueno. Only 1 doable, had an old lady with fake ones tell me $100 is going rate, I told her I would not pay 100 reais and left. Today went to copa 583 club. Best lineup so far went with 24 yo Negra. She was hot asf but stopped half way through second go round and complained I would not DATY. I played it off but not my thing on high mileage girls. Was worth the 130 reais for sure. The price is nice experience. Will return Monday to try second choice. Sexy ass brunette, it was a hard choice. Probably should have taken both. Heading to centaurus now. I will do more detailed report once I get home. Staying in barra the tijuca next week. Thanks for info vagabondo. Interesting post below. Overall so far I have felt very safe, most have been courteous and friendly even. Biggest headache so far is cell phone. Paying $10 a day for roaming package is not as ideal as tourist plan you would get in SEA. So far I still prefer Thailand or Philippines but I will make that decision a while after I have time to process everything. You can feel the "lockdown" has been very very hard on people here as at home (US), it is nice to feel appreciated though. I have been tipping in occasions I normally wouldn't and tipping more than I usually would because tourism numbers are clearly not strong. I have only talked to one group of gringos so far. Masks are worn by most 90% at least in copa. I will keep those interested updated.

I am about 9-10 weeks into my first 90 days. The two forms listed below are required. One Caveat, I do not have my arrival / departure card, hope this does not cause any issues.
