Why make it so complicated? You are arriving in Aeroporto Santos Dumont and going to Copacabana, propably with some luggage. Taxi won't be expensive as it's quite a short ride. Uber will be even cheaper. Do you prefer getting a VLT card and head to the metro, getting a metro card, bring your luggage down to the metro platform, go to Copacabana, head up with your luggage and walk to the place where you're going to stay? Also, why should a taxi be cheaper from Carioca than Santos Dumont, when Carioca is further away?

I was talking bringing reals back to America from Brazil. If you bring back 10 k reals, do you have to declare since it only has a value of 2 k.

Just because it isn't illegal doesn't mean the authorities won't find it suspicious. It's dumb but they make the rules and we just bend over and say MORE!

When I went to Berlin and Montreal the guys at the immigration station asked why I wanted to come and I said tourism but they checked my bags because I guess they know how much of a dump their cities are and couldn't believe such lies!

They just found my camera and other touristy stuff and let me go.

Can you guys clarify something. A BM here said if you bring 10 k dollars in currency to the US, you have to claim it, even if it's a foreign currency. 10000 reals is worth 2000 dollars. The immigration website says $10000 or its foreign equivalent, which should mean the foreign currency needs to be worth 10 k in dollars. I shouldn't have to claim 10 k in Reals.

Answers to those direct questions. Do you think telling me to "google it" somehow is helpful and proves how knowledgeable you are?

Do yourself a favor and if you have some helpful answers provide them if not why pipe up?

My advice is study the forum before asking 8 standard questions. The forum search functions works well. "Cocoa cabanna" was a new one.
