Let's me just say I have an American buddy who is tall, blonde, blue-eyed and buff who has traveled with me to Brazil. The Brazilian woman are fascinated by him. He did a good job of dressing up to hit the clubs and that helps.

I (and he) would recommend not wasting time looking to hook-up with civilian girls. If you do, get away from the gringo areas of Copa and Ipanema. Don't use a lot of energy and time. Guys. I remember Club Help as well and my many trips to the country. And the set up was when you went up the stairs to the left was where all the majority of the white guys linger. My experience is young guys who think there going to be irresistible on their short visit to Brazil get into awkward situations. More than a few times, someone in my crew would get it in his head that a girl was really into him and money would not be a part of the equation. Later, they are caught off guard. Well it was a long time ago, I got on the internet about 1994 and started searching for Rio, this site eventually showed up. It later stopped and all posts were frozen by the late 90's. I do remember that the admin of this site back then at least had a link to the WSG archives so I thought they were related in some way. Apparently someone else might have picked up the URL WSG and kept going with it sounds like here but then it died again. I don't know it doesn't really matter it's old, done and forgotten.

Speaking of hookers, I hit VM on Sunday night.

I spent all of December in Europe exploring, and man did I miss Brazil! The girls mainly, of course.

I texted a few of my VM regulars, told them I was heading there.

Hi everyone,

An old-time veteran back in Rio for a few weeks who are trying to use PhotoAcompanhantes (which I'm assuming is the best source for independents) / WhatsApp for the first time, with extremely limited success so far.

When pressing the WhatsApp button on PhotoAcompanhantes about 1/4 the listings go through, the other 3/4 return a message "Phone number shared via URL is invalid. " I don't know why this is (does anyone? And would like advice as to what that means I should do next. Send a plain text to the phone number using my regular texting app, for example? Or is that risky in some way?

Of the few that have gone through so far, three unread, three read, one one of which replied to. I was wondering if anyone might know why that might be, and if there some protocols in messaging that I need to follow that would increase my success. Good looking late middle-aged guy with a profile photo, sending the stock opening message that PhotoAcompanhantes fills in, can't figure out why they would ignore messages.

The final question would be, about what percentage of the photos in the ads are real vs. Fake?
