1) Mabs will now be open 24 hours.

2) They will start serving a breakfast buffet at 4 AM for 20 R.

Elephant in the room: Be careful when selecting your companion for the evening from Mabs, there are a number of trannies working the spot. Some have spent some serious money on their surgery and can fool you if you are in an altered state.

What are some proven techniques at tranny detection? My wingman beat the shit out one here is Sao Paulo last year. Couldn't tell it was a tranny until it got undressed in the room.

I don't think that is true in the absolute sense. I have stood next to an available driver and I had to wait for another driver.

In the case of Uber. Governments getting paid to favor taxis and exclude Uber. Talk to Londoners. Will government look for a way to take away one of their key advantages -- Uber claims drivers are independent contractors and should be treated and taxed as such. This was an advantage Amazon once had in not collecting sales tax. The period when government has not caught up to a disruptive business model is when you can make money. So, instead of arguing with the Uber driver about a few dollars, I ask him how it is going?

That is not entirely true, I think Uber is subsidized by VC and they can operate in lost which can be considered an unfair advantage.

I invest in businesses and go to great pains to understand how they work and in particular how they make money. For Uber, one of the key advantages is that the passenger will be serviced and quickly. I have used Uber and Lyft everywhere and the longest I have waited for a ride is 10 minutes.

I had a disagreement with a driver after making a deal for 3 trips when baggage would not fit in the car, after we agreed the price he was complaining that the price he agreed was too cheap, after 10 minutes of this rubbish I said fine drop me at the destination & I will pay you what the fare was going to be for a single trip, he made a point of saying "I have a nice car I refuse short journeys" he was saying to me in the time it would take him to complete my trip he could be missing a trip to Barra etc or he could earn better money.

You always are going to have a few who think they can game the system. In the old days when we called for taxis, they would not show up unless the trip resulted in a decent fare. If they were in route to you and a better offer came in, you would get stuck. Happened to me a lot until I hired a private driver. That was a passenger pain point Uber sought to solve. I originally thought they had a multi-cast system. You use the app to request a ride and several of the closest drivers are notified. The first one to accept gets the fare. However, the system actually contacts the closest driver and they can accept or decline. Decline too many and you get naughty marks against you. As a side note, if you are going to invest in a business, talk to the people who do the actual work. Most everyone knows about SWOT. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats. What you want to know is if the guy the business depends on is going to make enough money to want to stick around. What risks will affect his income. In the case of Uber. To make sure there are drivers to service that demand, Uber raises the price. The whole Uber business model is quite fascinating. Simplifying, a driver is assigned to your call but does not know where you are going until you are in the car. That way, drivers will not turn down all the short-ride fares. If there is an event which raises demand, lets say a concert just ended, the prices can surge.

I agree with this, I have been to Thailand, Brazil and Philippines, Philippines is the easiest place for BBFS, followed by Thailand, I was in Brazil 4 years ago and it was not easy to find bareback / BBFS, eventually I did but it required a lot of hustle, where as in Philippines, it was normal expected from most encounters.

I travel a lot and bareback all the time, 12 years never caught anything.

I was standing in front of the Hilton hotel and requested an uber to take me to my hotel in Centro, I was shocked when it showed 38 R. (That is much higher than I am normally quoted). I walked across the street and down to Nossa Senhora. (The walk took about 3 minutes total.) When I requested a car from Uber, now the price was 21 Reais. Maybe Uber will quote a higher price when it sees your location in front of an expensive hotel, I honestly don't know how it works, I can only wonder if walking a block or two can change the price.

That is how it works. Sometimes the app will tell you (in the US anyway) if you walk 3 minutes to so and so, you will save whatever amount.
