I recommend that you try to NEVER use your credit card in Rio either!! Not even using it at your hotel is safe, I know a couple of people who had issue and they only used it to book their rooms.

Seriously? Just go stick your card in a machine and get money out. Why even worry about an exchange rate 8 weeks out? But if it helps any, I recently withdrew 1000 reais from Bradesco and $265.87 came out the other end. That is 3.76 reais to the USD to save you some math.
