However, I can personally attest to the fact that economic meltdown will push women into prostitution, even traveling to foreign countries to have sex with foreign men. That has happened before in recent history but most recently we have seen an influx of girls from Venezuela in the casas of Colombia. I ran across a number of them last month when I was in Bogota. The priv scene in centro in Rio should give a fairly good view of the current situation in Rio. Many prives have closed down because the lack of clients. The prives live on the locals coming in for a daytime f*ck. As Brazil is in a crisis right now there are less customers who can afford to visit prives. I've spoken with several puteiro gerentes who all told me how business has gone down because of the crisis. Even Vila Mimosa who charges R$60 have much less girls and customers because of the crisis.

The subject of Brazilian economics and prostitution are shades of gray. Without trying to be diplomatic, everyone has made good points that don't necessarily conflict. I think Bwana made the point about girls advertising on websites or the UTR girls on social media. Is that optimal for tourists? Obviously, no.

I'm beyond my pick-up days, but I would presume the lousy economy makes more opportunities with non-pros. The know-it-all about Rio think they know it all about Rio, and I doubt they really know it all about Rio. Just because they see some shops close down and have a talk with some people, they think they get the big picture and are absolutely correct. And obviously, they think Mabs is the same as the "poorest countries" where women have sex for food.
