This entire line of discussion about picking up regular girls whether it be Brazil, Japan, etc. Leaves out the most important variable GAME. Either you have it or you don't. This evening there was a car accident on Av Atlntica, in Copacabana. The car ended up on the beach. 15 people got hurt. One baby died.
I passed by right after the accident happened. Incredible that it took way more than one hour to get ambulances to all the victims.

Barra is south of Copacabana about 30 minutes by taxi and I believe since the Olympics the metro runs out there so you can get to Copa easy and centro too if you want. It's a relatively newer neighborhood than Copa or Ipanema but much more residential but in recent years there are now several good hotels. It's sort of modeled after Miami beach with new high rise condos along the beach and American type shopping malls. Plenty of restaurants and dance clubs and bars packed with middle to upper middle class young women same as the beach praia do Pepe.

Avenida das Americas is a very long avenue stretching From Barra to Recreo, Paris cafe is in Recreo. You can also take BRT buses from the Jardim Oceaanico station. To go to swing clubs you need to have a girl with you.
